It doesn’t look like the black trend in makeup and nail polish is going anywhere and that’s not a bad thing!

MAC Cosmetics has a new line called Style Black and what’s great about it (besides the name) is it offers that dark look that is so pop, but in other intense shades that are almost as dark for those who don’t feel like their complexion can pull of the harsh black.

M.A.C. Style Black has some great mineral eye shadows, nail lacquers, lipsticks and glosses in super deep violet, green, navy and bronze. They’re so great chances are you’ll want to try them before you reach for the staple Style ‘Black’!

The line also has a Volcanic Ash thermal masque and exfoliator (getting great reviews for it’s deep cleaning).

Deepen the drama and give this line a try – it’s worth it.

Wear Else is known to often go by WE which doubles for ‘Woman Empowerment’ – to team with the Dress for Success Vancouver Chapter made perfect sense. Dress for Success is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

NOW – November 18, three Wear Else locations will collect gently used Holiday Wear for Alumni of the Dress for Success program. These women are about to attend their first holiday events at their place of employment and YOU can assist them in looking and feeling confident and beautiful by bringing in a gently worn holiday outfit.

PH8 is the new line to replace Bebe Sport and this month it’s finally in stores. I’ve not been a fan of the original line, but this one looks smart. Casual, but stylish – not all sporty.

PH8 (pronounced “fate”) and the lucky Asian number 8 – speaks to a total lifestyle and is targeted toward a woman who doesn’t want to look like she is trying too hard to be sexy… but has an effortless attraction about her that exudes confidence and a sense of playfulness.

If you grab a copy of People’s StyleWatch – page 22 has a great jacket – it’s fleece, but structured details. Very nice.

For our sisters over the US border there’s a new ‘must do’ before you start sleeping with that new hottie in your life.

Los Angeles County has launched a free service to get tested for STDs. Gals can order an at-home test for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Send the test in and get your results within a week, without the embarrassment of a nasty clinic waiting room. In LA county order at dontthinkknow.org

Mustard Trousers

When I was in London I noticed mustard coloured pants showing up as a trend.

I picked up a pair of cigarette skinny pants – the ones I got are from Zara (love ‘em!), but I’ve also seen some boyfriend cut wide-legs like these ones from H&M.

Mustard isn’t an easy colour to put by most peoples’ faces – most get totally washed out or kind of green looking. But on your legs it’s fair game for anyone. The shade has a vintage, rich quality to it. Wear it with all neutrals, or with the color blocking going on this fall/winter clash it with hot pink, teal, red, or purple.

Another tip for mustard pants is the cleaner-lined the better.
