I use the terms egoism, individualism, and libertarianism almost interchangeably but I have never really taken the time to explain what I think that the mean.  Egoism  Literally meaning “self-ism”, egoism is usually meant to mean a way of life, or social interaction such as hedonism or Ayn Rand’s ethical theory rational &lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

Efficiency and Motive. The typical argument often put forward by conservatives (though they never apply it consistently) is that the government is inefficient. The government has little or no motive to to supply you with your needs and interests, and I will even go a step further and say that its motives in general are entirely opposite to yours. Which sounds quite reasonable (for the capitalist of course) but on further examination it is clear that there is no such thing as a separation of economy and state. Surely these things are "culture" but often a problem we face in language is the ambiguousness of words. There is one aspect of culture that is simply a useful way to optimize social interactions.  This aspect of culture I have no complaints with.
