Is F-1 an insignifacnt sport in India?

I was watching the news lately and was shocked to hear that Formula -1 was declared as an insignificant game in India by our sports ministry. To quote our sports minister, “F1 is not purely sports. It is entertainment and this venture by JKSP is a commercial initiative. The proposed F1 race does not satisfy conditions which focus on human endeavour for excelling in competition with others, keeping in view the whole sports movement from Olympics downwards."

Now this is something neither I nor anyone who is an F-1 fan will agree to, you cannot classify F-1 as a sport even when you know that it is third only to Football and Olympics in TV viewership. On a single race there are more than 600 million fans watching the race all over the world. Also the sport was considered insignificant in India because of lack of audience and fans. I dont think we are short of fans and there is a large fan following that can build up a descent enough number to match other countries where F-1 IS considered a sport.

How does an AntiVirus program work?

An AntiVirus is a software program that detects and removes malicious programs and viruses from a PC. There are two chief ways of the working of an antivirus program. There are two principal ways in which an antivirus works. 

It checks up the names and structure of all executable files in the PC and matches those names against a dictionary or database of already known viruses.
It checks up all executable files before they start execution for any modification in behavior that is expected normally from it.

Let us understand these two procedures in details. The first one is the most common one in use by most antivirus programs. Though it will not be wrong to say that almost all modern antivirus software use both the above procedures. The dictionary approach begins with a database of all known viruses present and this database is created by the author of the antivirus program. The antivirus examines all files for a match in name or code to be executed with all known viruses. If a match is found the user is alerted and necessary action is taken. These actions may include deletion of the file as a whole, removing the virus from the file, or quarantining the file so that it does not effect the performance of other files on the PC.

The second approach does not depend upon already created database of viruses. It observes all executable files before they start execution. If these files relate to some noted or flagged actions such as they start transferring control to many other executable files simultaneously and instantly or they start modifying or start writing on other executable files at once, they are flagged and the user is alerted against them and the user delas with such programs.

There are several other techniques being used but none of them is declared successful yet.

DeFragmentation

If you have been using a PC for sometime, you must have come across this term sometime or the other. DeFragmentation becomes necessary when you have almost filled up a partition on your PC, or you have several small chuks or blocks of data spread all over your hard drive. Before going up to DeFragmentation, let us have a look at what is fragmentation; henceforth we will see how to cope up with fragmentation.

FRAGMENTATION: It is a phenomenon when storage space is used inefficiently, and in many cases it results in loss of space and a degraded overall performance of the PC. There are various types of fragmentation and we will discuss all of them here.

EXTERNAL fragmentation occurs when the free stoage on your disk gets divided into several smaller pieces of memory blocks. This happens due to the inefficiency of various storage algorithms where memory is allocated and freed by applications running on the PC. The problem that arises due to such fragmentation is that even though free space is available on the disk, you cannot store a program on it because the free space available is divided into several smaller blocks. This can be understood simply in the following example. You have to store a program of 100 Mb, but the largest blocks of free data are of 20 Mb each. Now Even if you have 100 blocks free, you will not be able to store the data because of absence of a full large free block of memory.

INTERNAL fragmentation refers to allocation of memory to a cause which does not require memory at all. Sometimes memory is allocated to not-required resources. Examples of this include the ASCII character set where the most significant bit is always zero but still it is allocated memory. Such fragmentation is called internal.

DATA fragmentation is the most complex and most frequently observed fragmentation phenomenon. It occurs when a latge piece of data is broken down into several smaller pieces to adjust it into free storage that has already suffered external fragmentation. Those of you who are familiar with linked lists will understand that when links are created thoroughly, the operation is smooth but when memory is allocated dynamically in a free storage that is suffering from external fragmentation, the operation slows down and the performance degrades.

To cope up with fragmentation on our HDD, we have several tools. An external defragmenting software can be downloaded or we can use the tool provided by Windows. We can find the disk defragmenter in sSystem tools and use it to defragment the disks. Sometimes a performance rise of upto 40% is observed. So, what are you waiting for, isn't it time you defragmented your HDD?

Fisichella to drive a Ferrari in Monza

The biggest news this week has been of Fisichella being transferred to Ferrari. He will drive a Ferrari in the next round Monza and also for the rest of the races this year. Next year, he will remain as the team's reserve driver for the races. Force India have not yet declared who will replace Fisichella but it is almost certain that reserve and test driver Vitantonio Liuzzi will replace Fisichella. Ferrari fans will be pleased to see a better racing driver than Badoer who failed to impress the team and the fans with his bad performance in the F-60 this year in the previous two races. Badoer failed to score any points in the previous two races and since the time Fellipe Massa has been injured due to an accident, Ferrari have emerged strong and Raikonnen has finished on the podium. With Fisichella's confidence very high due to a second place finish in Spa-Francorchamps with only 0.9 seconds between him and Raikonnen, the leader in the race, one and all are expecting Ferrari to emerge strong in the next race at Monza.

This has been a hot topic of discussion in India and is currently in the news as the progress of Force India motor racing Formula-1 team, reached new heights in the last race held at Spa-Francorchamps circuit.Lately, we were informed that the sport will be arriving India in 2011 and all preparations are already being done but recently, sports minister was heard saying that we CANNOT afford such an expensive means of entertainment and denied from classifying it as a sport. Though we do not have much resources to promote F-1 in India, but the number of fans of the sport can be matched with any other country of the world. We will always welcome the advent of this highest class of motor sport racing in India. Now with a team that is owned by an Indian, we must also look forward to promoting it as a port in India. We have excellent drivers already of the sorts of Narain Kartikeyan and Karun Chandok, who have already proven their worth to the world. Without the support of the masses, we will never be able to get F-1 the sort of recognition that it requires to be promoted in India as a sport. I request you all to support me in this genuine cause of forming a consensus in favor of the advent of F-1 in India.

KERS

KERS. This is one term that has been in news all through this Formula -1 season 2009. It is a concept that has not been adopted by many teams though it provides extra bit of energy to the car that can be used in the form of a boost to the car's acceleration. To know what exactly is KERS, we will first have to take a look at Regenerative brakes.

A regenerative brake is not similar to the familiar brakes used in vehicles. Normal brakes will slow down a vehicle by dissipating the vehicles kinetic energy in the form of heat. But a regenerative brake reduces the speed of the car by converting it's kinetic energy into a storeable form of energy which can later be used in a different form.

KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System.The FIA rules governing KERS are fairly simple but very restrictive. From this season teams are allowed to use KERS to draw 60 Kw of energy from the rear axle on the car, which can be stored up to a total of 400kJ (111 watt hour) of energy per lap, to be reused in the form of a 'boost' button.In effect the system uses regeneration to collect and store energy during braking which allows the drivers to use 60 Kw (82 hp) for 6.6 seconds per lap. The teams are free to choose between either mechanical or electric hybrid systems.

Not all teams participating in the 2009 season have expressed interest in KERS. Only the front runners of last year, Ferrari and McLaren, are using KERS to effect till date.
A problem as spotted out by many experts lies in the overall weight of the car i.e., 605 kgs, which also must include the weight of the driver. There were rumours that drivers were found trying to lose weight to give more ballast support to the car. Some teams also wanted to put up an appeal in favour of increasing the total weight of the car in order to support the new KERS system.

A tribute to Schumi

I cannot think of a better introduction to this post than to tell you that The official F-1 website describes Schumacher as the greatest driver the sport has ever seen. The recent reports about Schumacher coming back to the tracks was a much awaited one by me and all Schumi fans all over the world. Those who understand F-1 and have seen Schumacher drive the Ferrari will agree with me on the above two statements.

Michael was born in Germany on 3rd January, 1969. He is a seven time world Champion and is the only German to have done so. In 2006, he was voted as the most famous driver among the fans. He won five consecutive drivers championships for Ferrari from 2000-2004. He holds the maximum number of records in F-1 driving history. His records consist of the most number of victories, pole positions, fastest laps and many others. He is also the only driver to have finished up on podium in every race of a season. He accomplished this in 2002 though this was not possible without the assistance of Ferrari who were excellent throughout the season. Schumacher retired in 2006 but his fans felt that he was a better driver than you can find on the grid now. It was for this reason that when he announced his comeback to F-1 in the Valencia circuit due to an injured Felippe Massa, the fan club that he holds went mad and there were welcome messages all over the world. But due to an injury he suffered in a bike testing session, he could not make a comeback. This has dissapointed his fans and with Badoer performing not so good in races, his fans still hope to see him back on the track.

What is Formula-1?

Formula-1 or better known as F-1 is the highest class of autoracing, as so sanctioned by the FIA, the motorsports governing body. the word formula in the name refers to the set of rules that are necessary to be followed by all auto companies participating in the races.
Broadly speaking, this level of motorsport is a very expensive way of analyzing the performance of cars manufactured by various car manufacturers all over the world. The Formula-1 season consists of various races( generally 17 or 18) which are held over different places throughout the world. various nations hold F-1 races and tracks are specially designed for conducting these races. These tracks are known as circuits and presently the circuits are in various countries. In 2009, the circuits included in races are Australia, Malaysia, China, Bahrain, Spain, Monaco, Turkey, Britain, Germany, Hungry, Europe, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

The races are dated all over the year. Generally, the season begins in March and continues till late October. The races are held with a gap of one, two or three weeks. The race continues all through a week with the teams practising on the regular weekdays, Friday sees the first practice session and the race is held on Sunday. Saturday sees the qualifying session for the driver's position on the grid. People are entertained all through the week with the other FIA races going on like GP2 and other races. The results of the races decide two championships, the Driver's Championship that goes to the driver with the highest number of points won, and the Constructor's championship that goes to the team that collects the most number of drivers' points.

The F-1 races held are extremely high speed races where cars achieve a maximum speed of around 340 km/h or around 215 miles/hour. This is so when the engines are bound by rules to build up a maximum of 18000 rpm. The performance of these cars is handled by extreme electronic gadgets and improvements are made continuously for a safer and faster ride. Sometimes, the cars produce an excess of 5-g force on some curves. The cars have excellent acceleration and pickups.

Formula-1 base is in Europe mainly due to all teams basically originating there. For those who do not believe in motor racing as a sport and plead for audience, F-1 alone brings in a television viewership of more than 600 million fans around the globe which is third only to Football and Olympics. It has been classified as the most expensive sport, and its high costs are covered by Big sponsors for the teams who pay a lot towards the development in the infrastructure of the car.

General vs. Technical Blogging

By a general blog, I mean a blog where you write something very general, like your daily activity routine blog or an informal blog whereas a technical blog will have something important to discuss. It will discuss a technical topic. Technical blogging differs from general blogging in content, in style and approach of presentation, in attitude, in organization, and in language. If you compare a general or literary blog, such as a story and a technical blog text, you will find the striking differences between the two. The first difference is the content itself. Technical writing is a transfer of information related to specialized subjects and various scientific and technical issues. It is a process of communicating a specific message to specific audience with a specific purpose. The repetition of the word specific indicates the special nature of technical blogging. In fact, it is this need-based specific characteristic of technical blogging, which makes it so different from general blogging. The second difference is the style of presentation. While general blogging may use both formal and informal styles of communication, technical blogging will always be better if formal. It may involve certain elements such as formal vocabulary, specialized terminology, graphics aid and non-verbal data such as graphs and spreadsheets. Moreover, technical bloggers generally use certain complex and important exposition techniques such as description, classification, hypothesis, narration, explanation, comparison and contrast. The third important difference is the approach of presentation. Unlike general blogging which may be subjective or objective, technical blogging is always objective and purpose oriented. A technical blogger is not concerned with sentiments or emotions. Technical blogging generally involves a systematic discussion, analysis and interpretation of facts and objects rather than expressions of feelings and emotions. It is, therefore, marked by objectivity, impersonal attitude, clarity and precision.

How to find the sitemap for blog

A Sitemap is a list of the pages of a website or a blog available to the search engine crawlers or the users of the website. It can be either in the form of a document that is further used as a web tool or a webpage that lists down all the webpages of the site generally in a hierarchical manner. This helps the search engines and most importantly the users to find related pages on the website. In my opinion they are the best ways to optimize your website or blog for the search engines.

If you use google's webmaster tools to index your site on google, you must be familiar with the procedure of submitting the sitemap. Its a simple process where you only need to add sitemap.xml as your website's sitemap file and submit it. But in a blog this is not the case. The sitemap.xml file does not exist. Here is the process to find the sitemap for your blog. Type in the address bar the URL of your blog followed by "robots.txt". e.g., If the address of your blog is

http://myindiagoesblogging.blogspot.com

then you must type in your browser's address bar:

http://myindiagoesblogging.blogspot.com/robots.txt.

Once you have done this, you will see some text in your browser. In it you will clearly see the URL of your sitemap. Simply copy this URL and paste in your webmaster tools. The tool will verify your sitemap for sure.

A Profession: Blogging

There are many of us who would not consider Blogging as a profession even when we know about several successful bloggers who earn more than a descent income just by doing something they like most. Yes, of course, in India the revolution in Internet usage has just started to grow and people have started seeing opportunities in Internet Marketing. The best part about Indian masses is that they would love to welcome such a revolutionary method of marketing where without investment you could earn a living. All you need is a computer and an internet connection. You would have to do a lot of hard work as pro bloggers input a lot of time to optimize their blogs and writing out articles. 

Blogging as a profession will seem attractive to most of us and with an year of experience that I have in this field, I tell you that it can be very simple as well. The best part of all is that you could always chose the time when you need to work. In other countries where Internet Marketing is already a happening industry, Blogging is considered an excellent profession for people who know themselves and are thorough with the art of writing articles. People develop their blogs and this leads them to satisfaction of spreading their knowledge and opinions to the people worldwide. In India, you will still find people who will try convincing you against the idea of writing your blogs and suggest it as a waste of time but believe me, since the time I have been blogging, I have come to know more about the world around me. I have come in contact with other bloggers who are very professional in their approach towards a target. I have to keep myself updated about local and global happenings. All this leads to a different lifestyle all over and with the potential earnings you can make from your blogs, you will see that your interest in blogging will keep growing. Let me give you a small example. When I first wrote an article on hubpages (it was about formatting your computer with a USB drive when the CD ROM drive is damaged), I wrote it out just because I was having trouble formatting my computer with a USB. Nothing actually was working. So I went on to write an article so that no one else had to face the problems I faced while performing the format. After a few days I searched for the topic on google and believe me, I was more than surprised and more than pleased to see my article on the top of the results. It was then that I decided to start writing articles. And then I switched to blogging because this is a place where you can gather the trust of readers who visit you blogs. Bloggers have a different community altogether. And writing out Blogs is not all that simple as well. You cannot just sit down to write out anything. You must anticipate the likings and dis likings of the readers and must optimize your blog accordingly. You can easily turn your passion and hobbies into a descent enough profession and join the community of bloggers anytime. Remember there is no joining fee and no initial payment. Its your talent that matters and your zeal that interests your readers and community!!

Before I begin with a description on what is blogging, I will first discuss what exactly is a blog? A BLOG is a word derived from weblog which is a sort of a personal website that serves as a chronicle of information that keeps on growing by and by. Blogs are resources of information that are created by individuals(mostly) and are continuously updated as well. These weblogs may be based on any sort of topic that can run through a person's mind. A weblog may discuss political matters whereas a weblog may also be used to publish one's personal pictures and videos. It depends on the individual who is creating the weblog what exactly he wants from it. They also serve as a medium of propaganda where people advertise their other products or sell other links which serves the purpose of earning some descent revenue from their blogs.
There are two basic classifications done on the type of blogs. The classification is done on what sort of topic has been chosen for the weblog. Blogs maybe concentrated on a particular topic such as sports, technology, printers, cars, automobiles or maybe centered around something very personal from the author like the author writing out a page each day on his everyday life!!
A Blog has various parts. There is a content area that contains the main content or matter of the blog. The newest content or 'POST' is on the top and there is an archive of older posts in the blog. There is a method for the readers to leave comments on the content that studied on the blog. There is an option for categories where you can classify your posts or the content in various posts into different categories depending on the nature and behavior of the content. Also there are links to similar blogs that cover similar topics.
Blogging, is a way of interacting with others for individuals who do not own a website. They update their blogs regularly and the increased content attracts readers to see these posts or weblogs. Blogging, in the past few years has grown rapidly as it helps individuals to express themselves to a large pool of readers and provides a vast platform, the internet, to spread information that they want to share with thier readers.

Tips on Writing a Blog

Whether you have to write a short, informal blog or a long formal one, you need to adopt effective writing strategies. Blogs may be considered as systematic attempts to discuss problems, situations, conditions or discussions and simulate thinking or action among individuals and groups, you should follow a systematic plan of writing. The following steps will help in organizing and presenting the blog systematically:

Analyze the Topic Purpose: The process of writing an effective blog begins with an objective analysis of the topic that is to be discussed and the objective of writing the blog. In other words, you must possess the answers to these two questions. What do you want to discuss or present in the blog and Why do you want to present it.
Determine the scope of the blog: In order to keep the blog precise and to the point, the amount of information gathered should be limited to the moist important and essential facts. This helps in making the blog more effective.
Determine the needs of the audience: When a blog is being written, the author must know who will read it. However most of the authors tend to ignore their readers. A blog will be effective only if the author is able to connect his/her purpose withe the interests of the audience. Again answer a set of questions before writing. Who is the audience. How is the blog relevant to the audience. What is in it for the audience. What does the audience expect from the blog. How much background information will the audience need.
Gather all the information: Once the topic and the purpose has been analyzed, the scope is defined and the audience has been analyzed, the author is ready to gather the information. The information to be presented must be accurate and relevant.
Analyze and Organize the information: Analysis of information involves evaluating the information objective, making comparative analysis of different sets of information for obtaining new ideas, and interpreting facts and figures for their relative importance. Organizing the information involves using an appropriate logical pattern to arrange the information in the blog.
Review and revise: Once you have gathered all information and organized, now write out a draft and review and revise it for errors or replacement by better ideas and information.
Once the rough draft of the blog has been revised, go ahead and publish your blog. If you have sincerely followed the steps I mentioned above, you will see the difference between this blog and the other blogs that you have already written.

There are various things that make up your blog on a whole. You can say that these things are the various parts of your blog. Having a detailed knowledge of these things would help you to know your blog better and you can customize your blog in different ways to bring in more readers of your blog and hence make your blog more and more popular. I will list out some of the important parts of a blog that you must essentially know:

ARCHIVES: They are the list of all articles that are posted on a particular blog. They help to keep track of all the articles that have been written on the blog. There are various sorts of archives available on blogging sites. Articles or posts can be archived by date, by category, by author and many other forms.
FEEDS: A Feed is a function of special software that allows "Feedreaders" to access a site automatically looking for new content and then post updates about that new content to another site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest and hottest information posted on different blogging sites. Some Feeds include RSS (alternately defined as "Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication"), Atom or RDF files.
COMMENTS: These are a very important part of any blog as they allow the readers to substantially put their point of views about the articles that have been written by the author of the article. They allow healthy relationship between the reader and the author. They can help the author to better understand what are the expectations of readers from him.

There are a few starting tips that I would like to give you on your way to bringing up a successful healthy blog. Heeding to these points would help your blog grow.

Post content on your blogs regularly and keep updating your content whenever you feel necessary but refrain from writing out anything just for the sake of writing. Your blog will gain popularity only when you have good content on your blog.
Do not go on writing about just anything you can think of. Stick to fewer topics and build your blog around a theme.
Make your blog readable. Try to be simple and feasible in your approach.
Spend time reading other blogs as well. Comment on blogs and you will see that they would love to return on your blog to pay you a visit and if they like the content you have on your blog, they may start following you on your blog.

Remember readers read blogs because they trust blogs because they are not written by companies but by individuals and readers like them. They will always like your blogs and categorize them as genuine when they know more about you. Me as a blogger will ask you to mention the following in your about me page to make your blogs more authentic to the readers:

Your name and contact details. They will like your blogs when they know you personally.
Tell them your expertise, where do you differ from others in a certain field.

Adwords: in itself the name does not convey any meaning whatsoever about its nature and form. It is another paying program available to all, which lays emphasis on PAY PER CLICK advertising. Those of you who are familiar with the term, will know the risks of entering in such a field. Although this also is claimed to be a free service, I do not understand that it is completely free. You have to pay google first and then you start getting paid. But before getting into that discussion, let us first understand the nature and form of Adwords. For this purpose, let us first understand pay per click advertising.

WHAT IS PAY PER CLICK ADVERTISING ?

Pay per click advertising is simple to understand. When you conduct a search on google, you see search results. But along with those results you also see some advertisements spread in the right hand side of the results page. These are advertisements by product owners and businessmen who want their products advertised over the internet. To publish these advertisements, google takes a small charge for every click that is made on these advertisements. Now these charges are payed by the product owner whose links are clicked.
