I've been against vacation homework- especially those dreaded packets- for years. Whenever people object to the idea of students having homework-free vacation time, I ask, “What would you do if your boss handed you a PACKET of work to do on YOUR vacation?” Check out this video from Race to Nowhere to see how students feel about vacation homework...<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheHomeworkBlog/~4/PvrZaVU_PDU" height="1" width="1"/>

School is out (woo-hoo!) for Thanksgiving, and you and the kids can bake cookies, watch TV and learn those sight words while everyone is happy, relaxed and full. I've made it easy and totally affordable by reducing the price of my sight word ebook to only $4.99!

Unlike the people conducting these ridiculous studies, I have TAUGHT real, actual elementary students in real, actual classrooms. I know how much more difficult it is to find time, supplies, money, books, space, parents, etc. when there are, say, 34 students as opposed to 24. Many times, teachers simply cannot provide those extras (i.e. subscriptions to student news magazines or clipboards for science class) to larger classes, so the students go without. You don't need to be an educator or scientist to figure this out. As the kids say, "Duh!"<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheHomeworkBlog/~4/4S1ZQF5LySg" height="1" width="1"/>
