Laura, our West L.A. Program Director informed us that one of her students who had recently moved to San Diego, really missed her art classes. The student’s mom called and scheduled her daughter for 3 Saturday classes. They got up at 6 am and drove up to our West L.A. studio!

Her student says she tried another oil painting class but it was boring and not as good as our classes here at Mission: Renaissance.  “It is so awesome see how much our classes mean to people and how they will move mountains to come here.” says Laura.  Clare, her student was able to finish an entire painting that day.

Yet another affirmation for Mission: Renaissance and The Gluck Method, two reasons our students have so much fun learning!

California contemporary realism artist

Art Education: I got my foundation of traditional drawing and painting at Mission: Renaissance in Pasadena, CA, and I have continued taking workshops with artists I admire.
Style: Modified realism. I try to use what I’m painting as a source of information, without copying it.
Creative Spark: Museum visits, music, nature, beautiful personalities, and travel.
Second-Choice Career: A musician. Music is one of my biggest loves, so it was a tough choice.
Best Advice Received: To ignore my losses, keep my attention on the good things, and to keep pushing toward my goals, no matter what.
One Thing Most People Don’t Know About You: Very often I want to throw my paintings out the window. The most successful thing I do is to continue painting past this point.
Biggest Fear: Monsters under the bed.
Pet Peeve: The idea that talent is something you’re just born with, when I know how hard artists work to achieve their skills.
Future Goals: Take painting trips all over the world, never stop learning, and reach bigger and bigger audiences.
Price Range: $200 to $2,500.

FastFrame in La Cañada sponsors many community programs that involve education, athletics, children and of course the arts. On July 3, 2012, owners Frank and Beverly hosted a reception for Young Artists from Mission: Renaissance in La Canada. In attendance was Mission: Renaissance’s founders, Larry and Sheila Gluck along with Liz Schoenfeld, Program Director of Mission Renaissance La Cañada. The students’ artwork is fantastic!

Pictures were taken at the presentation and will be featured in the Palisades Post newspaper. We are inviting people to come see her artwork and pictures which will be displayed in the front window of the Palisades Mission: Renaissance Studio and to try a FREE Introductory Class.

Mission: Renaissance in Sherman Oaks/Studio City has put up a new display of student artwork at Chill Frozen Yogurt shop. The clean, modern design of the shop along with the curvature of the walls, make the display as impressive as any gallery or museum. Our student’s artwork done in brilliant pastels, make each piece a masterpiece.

Mission: Renaissance student Riley and her brother Jack entered an art contest in association with the Arbor Day Festival in Santa Clarita. The contest called for them to use recyclable materials to create an art work.  They ended up winning first place for best use of recyclable materials and third place for creativity.  They found all the material for their art at area beaches.

Congratulations to both! Art is a smart and fun investment that everyone young and old deserves and guarantees a return.
