The story kicks off in the smoking ruins of Troy. The Trojan War has finally been won, thanks to the brilliant tactical mind of King Odysseus of Ithaca and his battle-worn army. But their victory is short-lived.

As they attempt to sail home, the gods intervene, testing the men with a gauntlet of mythological monsters and psychological madness. Eventually separated from his remaining crew, the King finds himself stranded, forced to battle a failing memory and unravel a web of illusions just to remember the truth of who he is and find a way back. Meanwhile, back home in Ithaca, the stakes are just as high. His loyal wife, Penelope, and their son, Telemachus, are desperately trying to hold off a vicious, selfish faction of suitors who have occupied the castle, turning it into a frat house in a ruthless bid to force the Queen to remarry.

After being dragged through a complete emotional wringer, I can say with total confidence that the synergy between this cast, the crew, and the editors is nothing short of incredible. Christopher Nolan proves once again that he is a master of suspense, keeping us permanently on our toes with a complex, non-linear psychological edge. The editing is razor-sharp, and the breathtaking visuals perfectly capture the film’s brooding, mythical atmosphere. What really blew me away, though, was the immaculate sound design and Hans Zimmer-level musical score. It doesn’t just complement the imagery; it actively pulls you by the throat into the screen.

In conclusion, this isn’t just a fantasy blockbuster; it’s a film that explores heavy anti-war themes and holds up a mirror to how we treat one another. If you’re into movies that refuse to be boxed into a single genre, THE ODYSSEY is the one for you. It seamlessly juggles high-octane action scenes, dark humor, intense family drama, and genuinely disturbing mythological creatures. It covers absolutely everything, wrapping it all inside a modern cinematic masterpiece. Keep the kids away from this one – its hard R-rating is well-deserved due to some intensely dark, mature themes. I’m giving THE ODYSSEY a rock-solid 9/10 and will definitely be watching it again.

When Connect 3 loses their opening act for a major reunion tour, they return to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing. Beginning Thursday, July 23, Hulu Animayhem: Fandom Fuel Up, FX’s “AHS” 13 Flavors stunt, and the “Percy Jackson” Experience outdoor activations will be open to the public directly outside the San Diego Convention Center, plus eight star-studded panels taking place throughout the weekend.

This year, Hulu Animayhem is taking over the Gaslamp with a food and beverage-driven, fan-first experience inspired by “Futurama” and “King of the Hill.” The iconic Planet Express returns to Comic-Con alongside Bobby Hill’s new Robata Chane venture. Guests can enjoy themed offerings like Fry’s 100 Days of Cold Brew and Robata Chane-inspired yakitori. As guests fuel up, they’ll explore immersive environments, uncover hidden Easter eggs and capture shareable moments inspired by fan-favorite storylines from each series. On the exhibit floor, Hulu Animayhem fans can also shop for new merchandise and SDCC exclusives from their favorite series like “Bob’s Burgers,” “King of the Hill,” “Futurama,” “Family Guy” and more at booth #4229.

In celebration of the upcoming 13th installment of “American Horror Story,” FX is taking over San Diego with fan-favorite characters and sinister sweets inspired by the series. A fleet of four branded ice cream trucks will serve up a total of 12 different flavors, each inspired by a different installment. Fans will also get the chance to see a few iconic “AHS” characters, including Rubber Man (“Murder House”), Twisty the Clown (“Freak Show”), the Witch (“Coven”) and more. A new cast of talented young actresses stars in the movie, including Leah Sava’ Jeffries (“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”) as Galleria’s daughter Faith, Carmen Sanchez (“Electric Bloom”) as Chanel’s sister Dior, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, and Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn. Newcomer Kamogelo Ramashala, a local South African actor discovered during Disney’s global open casting call, is set as Kendi.

The story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Symoné) and Chanel (Bailon), alongside Galleria’s daughter Faith (Jeffries) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Along the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice, and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls.

Debra Martin Chase (“The Princess Diaries”), who executive produced the first three “The Cheetah Girls” films, returns for this latest installment alongside Raven-Symoné as executive producer. Directed and co-produced by Bille Woodruff (“Bridgerton”) and written by Kara Holden, Sarah Watson and Deborah Swisher, the movie is produced by Disney Kids & Family and features choreography by Kyle Hanagami. Hulu Originals earned 22 total nominations. The drama series “Paradise” (20th Television) from Dan Fogelman garnered seven nominations, including a second nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and performance nominations for Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson and Shailene Woodley. Hulu also received three stand-up comedy nominations for “Nikki Glaser: Good Girl,” and “Only Murders in the Building” (20th Television) received its fifth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as a performance nomination for Martin Short. Chase Infiniti received her first-ever nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in “The Testaments.”

National Geographic garners 12 nominations, including Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special for “Tucci in Italy,” the second consecutive nomination for the series over two seasons, as well as Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Narrator for “Ocean with David Attenborough” and Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking for “The Tale of Silyan.”   Sir David Attenborough, who celebrated his 100th Birthday this year, holds the record for the most nominations in the Narrator category.

Disney Television Studios (20th Television & 20th Television Animation) garnered 59 Emmy nominations, including

Illumination has once again proven that no one understands silly, family-friendly entertainment quite like they do. MINIONS & MONSTERS is packed with nonstop slapstick comedy, clever visual gags, and enough hilarious chaos to keep audiences of every age entertained from beginning to end. It’s one of those rare movies where kids are laughing just as hard as the adults sitting beside them.

One of the biggest strengths of this newest Minions adventure is its originality. While so many animated franchises rely on continuing storylines that require viewers to remember what happened in previous films, the Minions movies have never been tied down by that formula. Every installment feels like its own standalone adventure. You don’t have to remember complicated backstories or keep track of a larger universe. Each movie introduces a fresh idea, embraces complete absurdity, and simply focuses on being fun. That’s a huge reason why these films continue to be so popular with families.

The storyline in MINIONS & MONSTERS is creative, lighthearted, and surprisingly charming. It takes a simple concept and runs with it in the most delightfully ridiculous ways imaginable. The pacing rarely slows down, with one funny moment quickly leading into another. Just when you think things can’t possibly get any more outrageous, the movie finds another opportunity for physical comedy that somehow tops the last.

Of course, the real stars remain the Minions themselves.

It’s almost unbelievable that characters who spend nearly 90 percent of the movie speaking complete gibberish can still communicate so much emotion and personality. Their made-up language has become iconic, and somehow audiences instantly understand exactly what’s happening. Whether it’s through expressive animation, exaggerated reactions, or perfectly timed physical comedy, you never feel lost. In fact, their nonsense dialogue somehow makes everything even funnier. It’s a reminder that great visual storytelling doesn’t always require actual words.

The talent behind the scenes deserves just as much credit as the little yellow stars on screen. Director Pierre Coffin, who once again voices the Minions, knows exactly how to balance over-the-top comedy with genuine heart, while the screenplay by Brian Lynch keeps the jokes coming without losing sight of the story. The impressive voice cast—including Jeff Bridges, Christoph Waltz, Allison Janney, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, and Trey Parker—adds plenty of personality to the colorful supporting characters.

And don’t overlook the music. John Powell’s energetic score perfectly complements the nonstop action, while the soundtrack is packed with upbeat, toe-tapping songs that capture the spirit of the film’s Hollywood setting and make the adventure even more entertaining.

The animation is bright, colorful, and bursting with energy. Every scene is filled with little background jokes and visual details that reward observant viewers. Younger children will enjoy the constant action, while adults will appreciate many of the subtle comedic moments sprinkled throughout the film.

What really makes MINIONS & MONSTERS stand out, though, is its ability to make people laugh together. In today’s world, where so much entertainment feels heavy, stressful, or emotionally exhausting, this movie is a refreshing change of pace. It doesn’t try to make a statement or tackle complicated issues. Instead, it embraces pure joy. For just over 90 minutes, families can simply sit back, laugh together, and forget about everything else going on outside the theater.

Honestly, that’s exactly the kind of movie many of us need right now.

Parents can also feel confident bringing younger viewers. The PG rating is well earned, and the humor stays squarely in family-friendly territory. A first look at the special was released, revealing Mickey, Minnie and the gang alongside Lasso Lucy, voiced by guest star Megan Hilty, performing the “Hoedown Throwdown,” a new version of the iconic song and dance performed by Disney Legend Miley Cyrus in “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” The new song will be available as a single this Friday, June 26, on all streaming platforms.

In “Mickey’s Country Farm,” Mickey and friends use their new farm vehicles to build the Fairest Farm Fair ever — hoping Daisy’s cowgirl idol, Lasso Lucy, will stop by for a visit.

Leading up to the premiere, there’s even more good ol’ country fun as Mickey and his pals sing some familiar songs when they visit the farm. Following the release of the single “Hoedown Throwdown,” the soundtrack “Disney Jr. Music: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ – Mickey’s Country Farm” will be available to stream on all platforms beginning July 31. New “Mickey’s Country Farm Songs” shorts will debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+ on July 27.

Main Street is more than a street name; it’s a representation of the heart of the American community. The special looks at one of the country’s oldest family-run small businesses, as well as the rise of the automobile industry and its connection to personal freedom. Next, the legendary Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (now known as the TCL Chinese Theatre) sets the stage to experience the allure of old Hollywood and the singular icon Marilyn Monroe, who shifted the public’s perception of celebrity and fame. The special also pays homage to ABC News’ extraordinary 30 hours of continuous coverage of the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, with a look toward the future.

Now in its second year, the preschool-focused initiative from ESPN’s “Take Back Sports” and “Disney Jr. Let’s Play!” will once again collaborate with national nonprofit Every Kid Sports to provide grants to help income-restricted families cover the cost of youth sports registration fees for children ages 3-7, helping more kids experience the benefits of sports participation early in life.

Last year, more than 1,200 families across eight cities in the U.S. received grants supporting access to 22 different sports, with 50% of participating families noting that it was their child’s first time playing a sport. Additionally, more than 70 preschoolers and kindergarteners participated in the inaugural free “Let’s Play” sports clinic in East Los Angeles last fall.

This year, the program will be expanding to include preschool sports clinics in additional select markets, including Oakland, Chicago, Fresno, Los Angeles/Inland Empire, Philadelphia and more, introducing young children to multiple sports in a fun way and connecting families directly to youth sports resources in their local community.

Registrations for this year’s grants, which will be fulfilled through fall 2026 Every Kid Sports Pass, are now open for qualifying families from Los Angeles, Fresno, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and New York. If conspiracy theories, cover-ups, advanced tech, and funny car chase scenes are your thing, then the Disclosure Day is the movie for you. This sci-fi movie by the great Steven Spielberg gives you a big question to answer: If you have knowledge of something so big and earth-shattering,is society ready to accept it or will society come crashing down?

The film starts fast-paced, giving you no concept of what is going on; you’re just in for the ride. The action in the film can get a bit silly, mainly relying on car chase scenes that get out of control fast. But the pace flows well enough that one can follow where the characters are going.

A star-studded cast with Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, and Josh O’Connor draws you into the story commandingly with deep emotion. Wyatt Russell adds the perfect amount of humor and authenticity to the scenes. Adding empathy and religious aspects to the film were Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson, both with great performances. The emotional intelligence Emily Blunt brought to the character solidified spectators’ suspension of disbelief, with Josh O’Connor supporting her along the way. Several characters made questionable decisions and played on classic tropes such as the protector doing the “right thing,” but in a film with alien technology, it gets a pass.

Cinematography and film score worked well together, telling an interesting story. Spectators could feel the crescendo of emotion as the music builds in tandem. Disclosure Day exhibited a full range of human emotion throughout the film – from profound sadness and disbelief to almost-campy mirth. There are some particular bad car chase scenes that may resemble a Benny Hill moment. Sadly, those scenes were poorly done, and it disrupts the characters’ situation. The climactic ending brings you to the edge of your seat, taking you through the journey and culmination of the entire film.

Overall, the film was very entertaining, bringing up good questions about who should know about the existence of alien life, if anyone should know. Definitely worth seeing, but maybe no need to rush to a theater.
