Some iCloud users experience issues where their daily iPhone and iPad backups fail for no apparent reason.

Normally, when your device is plugged in and connected to WiFi, iCloud automatically does a back up in the backgroud.

You can run a manual back up by plugging into a power outlet while connected to WiFi and going to Settings > General > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Back Up Now.

If you’re affected by this issue, you’ll soon see “the last backup could not be completed” at the bottom.

There are 2 ways to fix this issue:

Fix 1

Hold the Sleep and Home button simultaniously until your iPhone/iPad resets > try again when iOS is back up.

Fix 2

Plug iPhone to USB > in iTunes, turn off “backup to iCloud” by choosing “backup to this computer” > click Sync > Go to iCloud on your iPhone and delete all previous backups > in iTunes, turn on “backup to iCloud” > in iPhone click backup to iCloud

That should fix it! Please let us know in the comments below.

With Malware running rampant online, it is more important than ever to have your PC and software up to date with all the latest security patches. You know, those annoying little prompts that keep bugging you to update? Kiss them goodbye!

The application is called Patch My PC. You basically launch it, check for updates, and install the updates.

Jailbreak your iPhone 4 by launching mobile Safari, and going to http://www.jailbreakme.com > and “Slide to Jailbreak“

Purchase and install My3G through Cydia, or this page ($3.99)

Use FaceTime. That’s all there is to it

WARNING: For those on a tiered data-plan (IE: AT&T in USA), be very careful, as video conferencing and streaming will use up around 3 MB’s per minute (test conducted by 9to5 Mac).

The long awaited iPhone 4 jailbreak is ready! Big props to @Comex for this elegant method- you are amazing!. It’s the return of Jailbreakme.com from the old 1.0 days.

This Jailbreak not only does the iPhone 4- but all iOS devices on 3.1.2 firmware, or newer.

So basically iOS devices running anything from 3.1.2 to 4.0.1 are supported.

Just go to jailbreakme.com from mobile Safari and “Slide to Jailbreak”.

Haven’t been able to do it yet since everyone’s hitting the servers at once, but I’ll report back soon!

NOTE: Not all jailbreak apps will work on iOS 4. Most of them are still being ported over from iOS 3 so check this chart before installing any apps from Cydia!

UPDATE 1: I finally got through to the site, and was able to Jailbreak flawlessly.

UPDATE 2: My MMS functionality seems to have gone away- no camera button in Messages.app.

Update 3: Looks like my FaceTime button is gone as well, and replaced with “Hold”. I’m not too worried, as I’m sure fixes for MMS, and FaceTime are coming real soon- you’ve been warned!

Update 4: All MMS + FaceTime issues have been fixed. So if you’re a new Jailbreaker, just go to jailbreakme.com from mobile Safari, and “Slide to Jailbreak” as usual.

If you’ve already Jailbroke- just launch Cydia and it should prompt you to update, this should fix MMS + FaceTime issues. You may need to enable FaceTime by going to “Settings > Phone > Facetime [ON]“

With HD TV becoming the standard, and digital TV in full effect, HDMI cables are more in demand than ever before. But walk into a Best Buy, or Radio Shack, and you may have a dilemma on your hands. Retailers make a killing off of inflated cable prices- But are you getting what you pay for? No, not really- allow me to explain.

Back in the days of analog signal, there was much room for improvement in A/V, COAX, and other cables. Manufacturers would gold-plate the connectors, provide special shielding to avoid RF interference, and even use gas injection in the cables. This was all good, as they pass analog signal back and fourth, and these methods have been scientifically proven to aid signal quality.

But let’s remember, HDMI is DIGITAL- so it’s basically sending 1′s, and 0′s back and fourth. So you have two scenarios; either the cable works perfectly, or it doesn’t work at all.

Monster constantly boasts and brags about their HDMI cable engineering methods, but in reality, you can get a $10.00 generic HDMI cable from eBay, and get the same picture quality as an $80.00 Monster HDMI cable. Again, because it’s all digital!

Take CD-Rs for example- it wouldn’t matter what brand of CD-R you use to burn your music, it will sound the same as all the other brands. This is because it’s using 1′s and 0′s to play the music- the quality of the sound is determined by the quality in which your music files have been encoded and ripped using.

Certain vinyl records sound better than others since vinyl was analog. So the quality of the physical record was a big factor.

So if you recently bought a PS3 or something, and the HDMI was idiotically not included in the box, do yourself a favor and use my eBay link below, and click the Best Buy link for a nice chuckle.
