I dont use Twitter or Facebook. :S I rely on text messages from friends who are out kiting. We usually send where we are going, if there are kiters out and the wind conditions/kite sizes.. Yeah, I agree Twitter is mostly useless. Though I have a couple friends who really seem to like it for some reason. LOL Sorry Chris, just sharing my experience thus far. I certainly would not want to hamper your efforts, only give you other options that have proven to work for us. I recommend you look at Sessionalert.com the guys in Michigan are using it quite regularly which gives me a pretty good indication when wind is on its way... it is mobile web based so any phone can use it and it gives you email alerts if you want them. Yeah, I read some of the issues people had before; and your criticisms are valid, nobody controls hashtags, so they can be abused. That said, does anybody actually have Twitter push messages to them via SMS now? I contend that Twitter isn't the push service it was, but maybe I'm just not using it 'right'. The problem with twitter hashtags is anyone can use them for whatever they want, such as advertising their business. Also, anyone and everyone can see the tweets... there are some people I would rather not have showing up to where I am, while the vast majority would be welcome.
