Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant PhD scholarship in Economics within the fields of Entrepreneurship affiliated with the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) at Department of Economics. The scholarship is embedded in a research project entitled “Employment Effects of Entrepreneurship” directed by Prof. Anders Sørensen (as.eco@cbs.dk). The research project is mainly an empirical project based on register data from Statistics Denmark. An important question in this context is how many of the new jobs created by entrepreneurs that are really new jobs, i.e., jobs that not only replace similar jobs in existing businesses and therefore are likely to better contribute to innovation and growth in society. Another important question is whether spin-off entrepreneurs contribute more to job creation than other types of entrepreneurs. The purpose of the project is to study precisely these aspects of the job creation process.

The new Chair of Risk and Insurance Economics at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC) of ETH Zurich seeks to ﬁll a Ph.D. position in microeconomics. The chair conducts research in insurance and health economics using methods developed in game and contract theory. A key ingredient is to model strategic behaviour of customers and ﬁrms or providers in insurance and health markets, with an emphasis on dynamic frameworks, in order to understand whether these markets work eﬃciently and how properly designed incentive systems, regulation and competition policy may improve market outcomes.
