Macro Photography = Flowers make excellent photographic subjects for a variety of reasons: they are static (on a calm day) colorful, ever changing. Flowers may fall within the parameters of weedy, through luscious, to blowsy. Their centers can provide scope for some curiously erotic imagery via symbolic spikes and folds. The variety of plant life is infinite, from the waxy blooms of the water lily to the delicacy of the fuchsia, from the first bright green unfurling leaves in spring to the crisp russet curls that result when the summer moisture has gone; there is massive scope to use one’s imagination in creating exciting, different images.

Jan Feinberg: I have been taking pictures my whole life, but I just recently got into Macro Photography, and I love it. Especially what I can do with the close up on flowers.

There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.

Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning, and under every deep a lower deep opens. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Kristiansand offers considerable wilderness experience to allow you to experience the beauty of Northern Norway. There are mountains plunging into the sea from hundreds of metres, fjords, tall mountain peaks, northern lights and midnight sun.

Photographer: Arnt Edvin Eriksen: I am a Creative Art Director, Social Media Evangelist, Ducati-riding family dad with a need for too much gadgets. I am a proud Nikon owner, always had Nikon, from my first F40x up to my D80i. I’m insane when it comes to lenses, only the best is good enough - which my wallet tends to complain about

When I am not working I am with my family- I love to spend time with them and explore life and nature. I also spend a great deal of time working on my boat and taking it out to the sea. I am surrounded by nature and I cannot help but document its beauty.

On the evening of 6/3/09 I experienced a very turbulent thunderstorm in
Newcastle, CA. I wanted to photograph the action so I looked for my camera!
Since my Canon XT Rebal is out of commission, I grabbed my Kodak Easy Share
M753 pocket digital camera and start taking one photo after the other towards
areas that were active in lightning. I didn’t even check the photos until 3
days after because I was so tired I went to sleep after taking the photos and
I forgot about them until I started taking some new photos. I couldn’t
believe that only one photo was a dud! I am glad to share then, hope you
enjoy them!

Photographer: Dave Malby -

I have been an amateur photographer since I was 12. At that age,
I had my own black and white dark room. Last year I actually sold some of my
photographs, so technically I am now a professional. I use different digital
cameras but prefer to use SLR’s such as my Canon Rebel XT.

I have taken photographs of about anything, however my favorite photographs are nature such as
weather, clouds and animals. Recently I have been experimenting with macro photography
and digital effects using color keying / green screen.

In 2006, I evented the CamStand, a device for mounting a camera in close
proximity to the object being photographed. I am not afraid to experiment, I
realize that photography is a art and that since is an art, photographs are
subjective. I believe a good photograph is interesting, pleasing to the eye
and a great photograph makes you emotional just like a great painting or
great music. Great photos are rare!

Stuck in a Moment
Every once in a while you get really lucky with a shot. This picture of a sphinx moth is one of my favorites because of how close I was able to get to it mid flight.

Protruding Limb
I took this shot at the Botanical Gardens in San Diego using a macro setup. The flower is about the size of a quarter to put it in perspective.

Hummingbird
Macro shot of a hummingbird sitting on a branch. The real vibrant colors and deep purples caught my eye

Brett Weatherington, I am a 19 year old amateur photographer on the rise. I’m from San Diego, but attend the University of California Santa Barbara as a biology major. I love being able to manipulate things solely through my camera into perspectives people have never seen. I am truly passionate about nature photography, but more than willing to dwell into other areas. I shoot primarily with a Nikon D200 and a wide array of lenses and am hoping to someday reach a professional status.

Getting THE CAMSTAND changed my whole presecpitive on photography. Now I can get closer, and get focused like never before.

KENT ARLINGTON- I am a photographer by trade - photography is one of my favorite things to do in life. I love saturated colours which I get using low speed films and polarizing filters. Lately my newest obession is Macro Photography. I love the results, I love the new way I can take pictures. It is like the world has just opened up to me again.

I am a Macro Photographer. I am inspired by the human soul. I love details. I love close ups.

My work, is the art of taking close-up pictures that reveal details which can’t be seen with the naked eye. I give you a glimpse into the world of the very small, which goes largely unnoticed by us as we hurriedly shuffle through our day.
