First of all, happy Labor Day! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and extra little break. We had a nice weekend, started painting our fence, mowed, went swimming and had a cookout at a friends' house.  Now, on to what we found! Our ducks are 21 weeks today, just one week shy of five months. I can't believe how time has flown by! I was cleaning their water in the pen this afternoon

Here are some pics from our most recent walk around our property. I hope you enjoy them!  A goldfinch nest I have never seen one, it was so neat! Covered in soft thistle fuzz, it has 4 little eggs inside.  Jewelweed Our jewelweed is in full bloom and that makes it super easy to find. Jewelweed is a wonderful plant full of medicinal goodness. It is great for if you get

Its been waaaay too long since I have done a Thankful Thursday post! The last time was in....November of 2011!! Yikes! I think I will need to update my logo soon.... Today I am thankful for SO much! Thankful for wonderful parents and inlaws that help us out and are so supportive. SO thankful for my wonderful friends. After Jimmy was born, I was feeling so lonely but over the last couple years

It's St. Patrick's Day and it is also our wedding anniversary...of 8 years! I really cannot believe how fast time flies. I started blogging in 2009! It does not seem like my blog is that old at all. Or that I have a 7 year old for that matter....but anyway...we had a nice, pretty uneventful day. We took our car in to get fixed, got some lunch and then Jim had to go back to work. The boys and

First post in a long time! Do I have any original fans/visitors left? Lol. Just a quick update on the boys and their schooling. We are still doing school at home and we are using the curriculum My Father's World. Jimmy is now in 1st grade and Matthew is doing k4 work.  We have been studying ice and snow for science and since it snowed yesterday and the wind chill has been in the

So I have been after Jim for a long time to let me get chickens, but he has resisted. Then one day a few weeks ago he came home from his buddy's house going on about his new ducks and how they just followed his buddy around and how funny they were. Well, that got the ball rolling and once our boys started asking for baby ducks every time we went to our local farm supply store, Jim and I decided

When I started this blog I wasn't really sure what I wanted to write about. It started as a place to share recipes and tips, photos of our farm and critters, and then it turned into a diary of what I was teaching my oldest son as a tot. After our dog Duke passed away and then when I had my youngest son, things changed and I think I sort of fell into post-partum depression but I was never

I am mainly posting this so I can remember what I did next time I get a cold! Hopefully it will help someone else too. So sorry for all of the guesses as to amounts, I just throw things together! ;-) I started feeling a cold creep up on me yesterday so I started drinking my go-to, Cold Kicking Tea Boil about a cup of water on the stove, then pour it over about a tablespoon of dried nettle

If you have been around my blog much at all, I am sure you know about our Aussies. Well, three years ago today, we lost our best furry friend, our beautiful Australian Shepherd, Duke. We were so devastated, he was a member of our family. Our home felt so empty and quiet without him and we immediately started looking for another Australian Shepherd, as we knew they were "our" breed and we would

I have some sad news. Our red merle Aussie, Bo, passed away unexpectedly last Saturday, May 5th. I feel bad that I have waited this long to post about him! Jim was so upset, he had really bonded with him after Duke died almost 3 years ago. I have really been slacking on photo taking lately so I don't even have any recent photos of him. =( He was a really good farm dog. He kept the racoons and

I am such a horrible blogger lol! Ok, so my last post was about my new skincare routine using the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM). Well, it was going pretty well, I loved how my skin felt. It was soft and smooth, and the refreshed feeling was awesome. But then a problem developed, which from what I have read, is quite common. I started breaking out on one side of my face. So WEIRD! I have never had

I have been searching for an all natural facial cleanser and moisturizer for a while now. Some of you may know that I used to be a consultant for a popular cosmetics company and I really loved their skincare and used it pretty religiously. It felt really good to wash my face and put on that moisturizer and feel all the tightness and dry skin disappear....but I was never quite comfortable with all

This year our family has decided to make it a serious point to buy only American made products. We have been consciously paying attention to where things are made up until now, but we are really going to try and ONLY buy things that are American made this year. I know this is going to be hard to do and we will probably fail many times, but if there is a product that is made in the good old

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday and a wonderful Christmas as well. So sorry its been so long since I have posted, we got the stomach flu the week before Christmas. That was not so fun. And my sister and her hubby and family just left after staying with us a couple days. Now its back to "normal" and I am praying I will not slip into the winter blues. It

Well, today is the last day Christopher Pop-In-Kins will be with us. He has to return to the North Pole! Jimmy was very sad to hear that he had to go home until next year. The boys have had such a blast finding our little elf in all of his new hiding places each morning. I think we are going to be a little bored when he leaves us. We can't wait until he returns after next Thanksgiving! Goodbye

Christopher Pop-In-Kins didn't go far after his shower yesterday...he got into a little tangle with the toilet paper! Made a nice little tower, climbed it and then later we heard a crash and he was found on the floor! No kidding! That is really how we found him lol! Jimmy was very excited that Christopher fell, he just kept chattering about his elf falling down and "how did he do that?" etc. Very

Oh Christopher Pop-In-Kins, you really are funny! He must have felt dirty after his ride yesterday ;-) Had to wash the horse smell off! Jimmy really got a kick out of this one, he was so surprised to see his little elf friend in the shower when he woke up. Next year I should take videos of the boys reactions!

I felt much better today! Christopher must have felt better about moving because look what he got into last night. Silly little elf! Guess he wanted to be ready to run in case he heard anymore scary noises from me being sick ;-) Giddyup Ballyduff!

Alihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00566325403135089728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8706535484298891029.post-88692377125841854982011-12-20T11:25:00.000-05:002012-01-04T10:26:46.015-05:00

I was sick all night with the stomach flu and poor Christopher Pop-In-Kins must have been too scared of the horrible noises coming from upstairs to move. So he stayed put for today, hanging next to the Christmas tree as he did yesterday. Hopefully I will feel better soon and he will get brave and move to a new place tonight ;-)

Today our little buddy was just "hanging out" by the Christmas tree all day.

I guess Christopher Pop-In-Kins was inspecting the stockings last night. Hope they meet Santa's requirements! =)

Sorry we had a bit of a hiccup and didn't get the rest of the Christopher Pop-In-Kins posts posted due to our having the stomach bug. Here they are looking back. =) Here is Christopher Pop-In-Kins checking out my Joy and Noel signs that I made years ago. Not really sure how he got himself up there...
