When I was younger I had super high expectations, and I wanted to achieve amazing things, but life is never like you planned, life makes its own ways. Now I know I won’t be a TV commercial producer or a professional ballet dancer or a veterinarian or achieve some of the things I believed I wanted, it’s too late for that. I had chosen a different path and I cannot go back in time, erase my decisions and have a do-over.

Time flies and life is too short to have regrets or to spend too much time thinking what went wrong, but sometimes is good to look back and realize that many things also went right, realize that the decisions you made are always the right ones because you believed they were at that moment and these decisions led you to be the person you are now.

This trip to the past also make me realized how much I changed and how much I am still the same. I realized the wonderful journey I had, and how far I went. Make me remember the battles I fought; the ones I lost and also the ones I won. A look to the past helped me revaluate mi present and future life.

Sometimes is good to go back and close the circle, and then be ready to start a new one…

10 things that rock about turning 30:

1. If I don’t want to do something, I just say NO without remorse or bad feelings anymore.

2. Sex is not a big deal anymore. Actually quite the opposite, now I control better every situation than when I used to be the Nintendo queen: I’m an expert and others ask me for the cool tricks.

3. Recently graduated boys in their 20’s to professionals on their late 30’s flirt with me. Range of options is getting wider.

4. I know the way I deserve to be treated. Don’t take anything from someone who tries to give me less anymore. So, be nice with me or you will know who I am.

5. I have a proven professional experience. I don’t accept insufficient salary, crappy contracts, poor job conditions or blocker bosses.

6. I don’t have the Barbie waist anymore, that is true, but my physical condition is really good for a bike route around the city or an all night dancing party. And my butt is a gorgeous eye candy when I wear my blue jeans.

7. I don’t care what others say about my choices if the critic is not constructive. It is my life and if people don’t like it, should get their own.

Plus: 11. Did I say that just discovered why a nude bath in the sea should be a must in any woman’s life? Taking into account 29 years of catholic-mexican background, this is a huge step.

I think turning 30 is like your first time in Paris or New York: at the beginning you’re kind of dizzy and scared. But it is so exciting too, and at the end of the trip you have a bunch of cool pictures and you’ll always want to go back.

Currently, I am in the vertigo stage, but it is so much fun and I know how to use Google Maps if I get lost!

It can be his sense of style?

Are you concerned about his underwear or general sense of   dressing. Is he wearing speedos? Or old grey washed-out formless shorts? His jeans are too short? His shirts to tight - I guess he didn’t always have this little belly.

So you need to use all your diplomatic skills and slowly start transforming him.

With with a new shirt and then a little advice here and there and suddenly he looks like a new person.

His hair?

Is he a good lover?

I know everybody is different and thank god we do not all enjoy exactly the same things but from lost cry in bed from a 30 year old man worries me. (And this actually happened in real life: Where is your ****? Well, honey, I am not hiding it… *pause*…and it is certainly not behind my ear, idiot) Or who has not been through a frightful night of “What-on-earth-do-you-think-you-are-doing-behavior”.

So it is again up to you to slowly teach him what to do and what certainly not to do. My favorite lesson is DON’T stick a wet tongue in my ear (yuks - it is NOT erotic), but I am sure you have your own dislikes. And please girl, tell him to just stop when you start doing a shopping list in your head because you are getting bored…I guess not everybody is a born Sex God - but with a little advice miracles can be achieved.

Is he a gentleman?

Will he close the toilet seat? Is he washing the dishes from time to time? Would he hold the door open for you? Or is he leaving dirty socks or underwear flying around for you to collect and wash. Farting or burping in public or when together cuddling also is out of the question … but I am sure you can continue the list.

Don’t let them just get away with it. If you wouldn’t do it, he shouldn’t either. And even if nobody wants to play mom or be too demanding, there are a few things that do matter.

But once you listen to all his troubles with ex-girlfriends, help him organize his life, assist him, advice him - sometimes it feels like being a mom, a psychologist, a friend and a coach at the same time. What do you usually get? You break up.

(I guess that is also what so many women go through when they meet a nice guy at uni, start a relationship, get married, have kids and always support him with his career and suddenly he runs off with the a young bitch - but is a made man.)

Just an example: I remember being with a guy once who was pretty much to be described like this: Constantly smoking pott, drinking beer, without a job (”but I want to become an artist and I work in construction where the money is not bad at all”), bad sense of dressing (to small and shiny little shirts and pants) with a rebel personality with a shaved head and a mustache, old-fashioned glasses and a broken car…anyways you sense that he was kind of messed up, but charming and somehow wild and attractive. We had a good time together and when we went separate ways this is what I left behind for the next woman: he was dressing sportively/ casual-chic, had a sexy stubble, nice curly hair, cool designer glasses, was a hobby painter and designer but had pursued a career as hotel manager and had just been promoted as junior manager in a posh resort. He had stopped taking drugs and was driving a Range Rover and a Harley for fun on the weekends. I didn’t even do that much - mind me - just a little advice here and there, but blessed be the women who can effortlessly follow into my footsteps and take over this perfectly trained and clean puppy.

I moved on to a real man! A ready one that comes with the full package.

The always well-behaved girl, with a non-alcohol strawberry daiquiri at parties, proper dresses and graceful moves while walking and dancing.

But suddenly one day, I woke up and realized that all this was just crap and at the end, the knight on the white steed had gone with the bitch on high heels and mini-skirt who asks for some vodka-martinis each party night.

The bitch with the hot red lips with no innocence on her face at all. The bitch that put the roses, emails and texts in the trash bin.

I bought a red lipstick, wear mini-skirts very often and get (so) drunk at parties. But something is going really wrong, because I still make the stupid smile when my e-mail inbox tells me I have a new message from the Charming Frog.

Don’t get me wrong, I think adopting is great, to give less fortunate children the chance to grow up in a loving home. But isn’t it really unfair to give this woman an award that other people deserve so much more? There are a lot of people who can’t have babies who have to wait for years and who have to go through a lot of tests and paperwork till they can adopt, so why is it that a Hollywood bitch who used to have a drug problem, was treated in a mental hospital and made out with her brother in public can adopt in a week? I don’t think pimpin out the kids in public all the time to polish up your image makes it any better. A great parent to me is a dedicated person who works hard to give children the live and love they deserve. Who gives a single mother who works two jobs and manages to take good care of her kids a prize for her parenting skills? If you ask me, I think in about 18 years we can expect a lot of creepy stories on the cover of OK Magazine, People or US weekly from all these celeb kids and will learn what it was really like to grow up in an environment like Hollywood - and of course what it is like to be raised by 10 nannies and 20 bodyguards.

10.      Don’t try to unhook our bra if you can’t do it. It’s amazing really, men can change wires and everything, but half of them are unable to take off women’s underwear!

9.      Please don’t put your tongue in my ear, eeewwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you HAVE to blow, do it gently, they are not a freakin birthday cake!!

8.      Changing the position too often can get really annoying, particularly if you don’t say anything and just push us to the side, pull our legs or yell instructions at us!!

7.      Squeezing the breasts too hard hurts, yes they are attached to our bodies, stupid!!

6.      If you can’t get it up for some reason, don’t make a scene !!! Don’t be angry at yourself, don’t cry, don’t be ashamed, don’t be a baby and PLEASE don’t explain to us for half an hour how this never happend to you before, because really, if it doesn’t happen all the time, we don’t care as long as you are doing other fun stuff to us.

5.      Nudging and pushing our head down is not ok, damn it, STOP IT !!! If we really like you we are about to do it anyways, no need to push!

4.      Another classic: attempting anal sex and pretending it was an accident. Ooooppps!! No woman is buying that, dummy.
