The fearless leader of THAR, trumcgowan, has been missing for 5 weeks now. No tweets, blogs, emails…nothing. His wakoopa even says that he hasn’t been online in all this time. As you can imagine, me and the fellow THAR contributors are quite worried about our space invader friend and hope that wherever he is, he is safe and sound. That said, if you know Tru “in real life” and have any information about what might have happened to him, please contact me at froggie@thefrogman.me

Or if you have any access to resources that might help us find out if he is okay, please feel free to email me as well.

I’m going to see about continuing on with some reviews in his absence. I’m super busy at the moment, but the THAR contributors and I think we should try to keep plugging on. Until we figure something out, we are going to be on a little hiatus.

After many days of waiting, version 1.3.3 of Ego is now available in the app store. This update includes a new yesterday view for Google Analytics widgets by popular demand.

There’s also a new version of the Mint Ego Helper Pepper, which you should upgrade to at your earliest convenience.

If you own an iPod touch, and you don’t have a GPS, you can use the Maps app on the iPod touch to find your way on a road trip. You may ask: “How can I use the Maps app for a road trip if I do not have internet access?” This is how to do it:

Set your route via the directions function while you have internet access.

Go through the route by clicking the arrows and waiting for them to completely load the map. You may also want to zoom in and out and get those parts of the map loaded also. Do this step over for all of the steps of the route it makes for you.

(optional) If you are really concerned about getting lost, you can follow the route on the iPod to load the whole thing in to memory.

You are now ready for a road trip! This works for all the times I have tried it, but it may not work if you put too much data in the cache, so don’t count on it entirely until you have tested it.

P.S. This tip also works with the Google earth app.

I really hate these concept photos. The white bar at the bottom of the iPhones looks completely jank. Remove that, and the phones are still ugly, but at least they’d have a plain silver one.

I assume, anyway. Despite their candy-coloured iPods, they keep dishing out a silver model, as well.

A new iPhone app called Email ‘N Walk replaces the plain white background of the e-mail application with a live view of the camera. Why? So you can write an e-mail while walking – and watch where you’re going through the iPhone’s camera lens. Good thing they didn’t call it “Email 'N Drive”!
