Created from my clients mothers wedding dress.

After seeing photos of garter and then subsequently receiving the package here's what Heather had to say.

Both the wedding garter band, and the lace on the dress tag were taken from the wedding dress.

I'm so happy to hear that my bride Amber is completely happy with the wedding garter I created for her. I was scared there for a moment; the fabric I had ordered didn't behave the way I wanted it to. Working with clients who trust my judgement and abilities makes my job so rewarding. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Terri Jaggers - Mrs. USA 2008. She was such a pleasant woman to work with. I've included a few excerps of our conversations regarding the ordering of her special wedding garter and a second garter she ordered as a gift for a girl who has a special place in her heart.

I am an expert in some things, but not in the beauty of creating personal wedding garters so as long as you are using the colors and initials that reflect us, you really can't go wrong and I trust your creativity. Good Afternoon Victoria Joanne!

I have a (serious) question ... do you accept tips? I have not yet even received my final product, but am blown away by the service that you have provided and the way you cater to each individual. I received my ribbon samples in the mail today (amazing! since we just spoke on Thursday). I was expecting there to be a few different pieces of green ribbon thrown in the envelope, and was so surprised to open it and find where you had neatly taped in each color of green ribbon possible! So, as a "thank you" when sending my payment, I was wondering if it was okay to make it for just a little bit more to show my appreciation?

In addition, I wanted to let you know that you were exactly right. The #1 green ribbon is the perfect color! I think doing the wider version of it with a thin white ribbon would be pretty as well.

Recently I have begun working with a wonderful lady named Hayley who lives in Australia. She has booked a custom order with her keepsake garter to be similar to the one above. Her and her soldiers names will be embroidred onto the front - and then she'll have a smaller garter for tossing which will have their initials sewn onto the band as well. This is what Hayley has to say about her experience thus far.
(I'm ecstatic to know that my creations are the only thing she's gotten this excited about so far!)

Commissioned to fix a store bought garter that was recieved as a gift!

BEFORE

was a pretty garter with lovely venise lace print... but was generic and the little bow was just GLUED on...

AFTER

My Bride requested me to sew on a few dozen faux pearls and Swarovski Crystals and replace the bow with the decoration shown - 4 bows and 3 small satin roses. Then sew on her names to the sides of the band and add the date to the Inside of the back. It came out lovely.

Message from my bride: (this is what makes my job so WONDERFUL)

OMG! - it's gorgeous - just exactly how I pictured it!!! Thank you so very much. I am soooo excited. You did a fantastic, professional job.
Ship it out - can't wait to wear it :D

Around the beginning of 2010 I had requested a few of my past clients to review me on Wedding Wire. My Client Deanna was kind enough to do so. She wrote one of the most amazing and glowing reviews I've gotten in all my years. (it's by Echospin wedding 3/4/2006)

I was quite taken aback upon reading it, so of course I sent her an email to thank her very much. Her reply was sad yet amazing again. Turns out her and her husband had split up. It was a horrible marriage :( But things are coming back to gether for her. Here's an excerp from her reply... This too touched my heart so much.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES ME WANT TO KEEP DOING WHAT I DO!

I just wanted to make sure someone reading it realized that you actually care about your customers which is a very rare thing these days especially for someone who specializes in items that will not normally generate repeat business from the same customer. Whether you think it is a big deal or not, what you did for me really did add something special to my wedding day. Not only was it my "Something Blue" but it created one more connection to my heritage. Like I said in my review, the garter really was one of the very last things for me to get and I never in my wildest dreams considered buying one to keep since "no one was going to see it anyway." But the fact that the unique design reflected who I am and what I cherish in my life made it all worthwhile. For that I truly thank you.

And just so you know, it was the only thing I kept from all of the wedding memorabilia (the cards, photos, certificate, etc.) when I moved to my new place. Even though the whole relationship is a chapter in my life I would very much like to put behind me, I could not get rid of the garter. For although I do not have fond memories of my "marriage," I do have several fond memories of my wedding day and the delicate beauty of the garter personified my hopes and dreams that I had with me on that day.

Recently I had the privilege of creating a very special wedding garter. It was to be created using the fabric from the brides mothers wedding dress. This was such a sentimental creation. Shellie (the brides mother) came to me in April this past spring and we started discussing the design of her daughter's garter. She was very excited and a little nervous because she couldn't picture how it would come out. But we discussed every detail. The fact that she wanted lots of lace and some beads and sequins was one thing... then the other was about having "something blue" so the bow and letters were the blue aspects. We came to a design plan that she totally was happy with. She put her trust in me that I would create the garter that she would completely love.

Here is her wedding dress fabric. It's off white so the design of the garter has ivory as the main shade and then one white rose with a white bow along with some blue accents in the bow and personalized lettering.

Once I completed her daughter's garter and a simple classy little toss garter I shipped them off to her. This is what Shellie had to say when she received them. :)

"OMG! Its looks beautiful!!! It made me cry!! I will definitely use you in the future!! (I have another daughter who has been with her boyfriend for three years, I feel an engagement in the future!!!) So, I will want another one done for her. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You have really been so patient with me and all my questions and everything! You are awesome! I will send you pictures of her with the garter FOR SURE!!! and thanks for the toss garter! That was very sweet of you!

Its a month away! Wow, so fast!!!! So busy!!!

I have heard some people say that Camo is just not a good choice for weddings. Well I beg to differ. Every single bride is unique. Not every bride wants a Princess wedding, nor does everyone want a Beach wedding or many other themes. However many brides do want to wear a garter that shows off their personality with some sort of theme or sometimes a special color. Often the garter is a treasure. Done in a theme or color that is not representative of the entire wedding theme or colors of the day. This is because the wedding garter is the little peice of personality that can be hidden away under the dress until the time when the bride decides to make it known.

For some brides it is only revealed in private on the special wedding night. A time that is only between husband and wife. While other brides like to show it off to everyone and flaunt there special treasure. What ever the case may be - a custom wedding garter is an ultra special way to personalize your wedding attire and make it what ever you desire.

It was a pleasure to create this special personalized garter for Linda. She wanted something simple and something that would be all hers.

We decided on a monogram in the front with the wedding date on the back. The Metallic thread blends in with the silver band which gives it a subtle look. Just what she wanted. It's so much fun for me to create totally unique garters all the time. Sometimes they are very simple and chic, while other times they are elaborate with many frills and ruffles. what ever the creation - I take it to heart and create it as if it would be my very own.

Alrighty - today is a mixed emotion day.... I'm happy to say that another one of my brides has proudly wore her garter on her wedding day! It was as lovely as she expected it to be... but I am also sad to say that I got my first negative feedback ever sent about my Custom Wedding Garter creations... In all my years (almost 9 now) I have never recieved anything that made me feel bad. But today... that changed :( I figured I should post this message because there may be some brides out there who have very sensitive skin. While I've made litterally THOUSANDS of garters with the special pins on them... I guess it's inevitable that there must be at least some people out there who don't like the feel of them... This is why it's soooo important to order the correct size... not just the default size. My guess is that if this garter had been a couple inches larger the back of the pin wouldn't have been too much of an issue. But I can't say for sure. What I can say is that - for future reference - I can add on a small peice of satin to cover the back of pins for a nominal $5.00 fee. This would be sewn over the back of the pin encasing it so it's not visible and won't be touching the skin.

I would also like to take the opportunity to provide you with some feedback from my personal experience. Though the garter was what I expected aesthetically, it wasn't necessarily what I expected with regards to comfortability. After wearing the garter for a while the back of the pin started pressing into my thigh leaving marks and uncomfortable pain... In the end I had to remove the pin from the garter.

These kinds of words are why I do what I do. Over the years I have always loved "Word of Mouth" . Paid advertising Just is NOT the same. Anyone can pay someone to tell others about them - Big deal... but when people tell others about you because THEY TRULY LIKE what you do and your product or service THIS speaks volumes.

Not only does it help to show others that you are trust worthy - but it also personally pumps up the artist or biz who is getting the compliments. I just want to thank you all for telling me your thoughts about my creations. It never gets old.

It's funny - when I first started I used to get about a 90% testimonial rate - about 9 out of every 10 clients would write me back telling me how great things were. It's like they new I was just starting out and really were impressed that the creations were as good as they are. I would hear things like "So much better than I expected" "You should charge more" etc... Later as my biz grew I believe many of my clients thought I was some "big biz" and didn't see me as a person any longer. The "thank yous" became less - Not as much personal relations - I started to feel like I was in withdrawl from hearing good things LOL , But I now know it was just a part of growing. The larger a company becomes, the more they sell, the more testimonials they have - the less new people feel the need to add to that list of testimonials. It's kinda a shame - cause hearing from clients about how they like my creations really does keep me going. While making a living and income is the purpose of my business - It probably wouldn't be worth it to me to keep doing it if I never heard from anyone any feedback about my work.

I take each and every creation personal. I work on it with my own heart and hands. Each one has a part of me fused into it. it's my Art, My creations, My dream.... That being said... Here's one of my testimonials I wanted to share with you :)

The lovely bride who ordered the custom military wedding garters below, wanted to do a personalized saying on the ribbons as well as having the custom embroidered names. Her ribbon reads "Honor, Courage, Commitment" " and the date on the other side.

So she ordered the wording and date on her ribbon for her garters and favors. You can do so too if you like. Personalized ribbon is available on the roll Minimum 50 per roll and cost 50 Cents per ribbon. I can use one or two of the ribbons on the garter/s and then send the remainder to you with your custom garters.

I received the garter today and it is absolutely gorgeous - thank you SO much!

Also - I wanted to share with you that I really like that you put a scripture verse on the box. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite scriptures. The box came at the perfect time too - I had just gotten back from my trial updo, which did not go well and I was feeling pretty upset about my hair, so when I opened the box and saw that, it really spoke to me and brought things back into perspective - thank you!! :)
