It's not everyday I get the opportunity to shoot a wedding in New Zealand. It's also not very common for a bride to arrive to her ceremony by helicopter. Luckily for me, I was able to come along for the ride. Here are some images from the ceremony of Kim & Anton on the bluffs above scenic Ahu Ahu Beach.

After a 14 hour flight and another 6 hours of left-sided driving, we finally arrived in Oakura for the much anticipated wedding of the lovely Kim "Princess Oakura" Harrison and Anton "The Prince of New Plymouth" Winstanley. Being my first "royal" wedding, I was quite excited.

New Zealand 2012 ~ The Waves ~ Terry Way Photography

Our 2 week trip to NZ came during a very promising month for swell across the Island. Unfortunately, we arrived a couple of days after some of the best surf the West side had seen in years and subsequently heard a lot of stories about how good it had been, "Mate!" As it turned out, my best waves were found on the East side, up in the Coromandel . We caught a few days of super clean small waves in pristine conditions. Great for photos! We also were there at the end of the Summer season and the place was deserted. Pretty epic.

Just back from a 2 week visit to New Zealand. Here is the first in a series of posts from the trip.

The Maoris originally called the island Aotearoa, translated as "The Land of The Long White Cloud."

For the first time in recent history, the majestic Bald Eagle is nesting in a eucalyptus grove high above scenic Pinto Lake in Watsonville. Bird watchers are loving the opportunity to see these iconic raptors in the wild here in Santa Cruz County.

The Winter of 2011/12 will not be remembered as a classic snow season but there have been some great days. Monday March 19 (the last official day of Winter) was one of them. Kirkwood Mountain was Winter Wonderland under bluebird conditions.

Awesome start to 2012!!

Jessica and Alex's wedding was a ton of fun.

With all this Summerlike weather, portraits were plentiful and we had the use of the Venetians in Capitola, the Wharf, the beach, Margaritaville and of course the incredible Shadowbrook Restaurant in Capitola

Crystal Springs Golf Course Wedding

Sierra and Vince were the first couple to book with us for the 2011 season- they contacted us a year and a half before the wedding when they hadn't yet decided on their location. They decided on the beautiful Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame. I had photographed Sierra's brothers wedding about 7 years ago and so I feel very fortunate they wanted me to shoot their upcoming wedding.

I was very grateful that they booked their date around my availability and as a season closer, their wedding was spectacular!

Huge thanks to Sierra and Vince for including me in their wedding day. I had a ton of fun, they were the coolest couple and the location had endless photo ops.

The Crepe Place in mid-town Santa Cruz has been offering up a steady lineup of great music in an intimate setting for the past 5 or 6 years. (((folkYEAH!))) has been putting together great shows in the Bay Area for roughly the same time frame. So what happens when (((folkYEAH!))) has a show at The Crepe Place? Well, for one, the joint will be packed. This certainly was the case this past Wednesday. 3 great bands took to the restaurant floor to the delight of those inside.
