Recently reformed cult metallers Cynic have announced plans to release four remixes of tracks from their comeback album, 'Traced In Air'. 'Re-Traced' will see the band re-record their previous songs with influences ranging from ambient, jazz/fusion to experimental and drum and bass. While the songs are without their metallic riffs and vocoders, the song structures and melodies remain, creating a minimalist, psychedelic sound.

At The Gates will be releasing a live album of their phenomenal performance at Wacken 2008.

At The Gates will be releasing a live album of their phenomenal performance at Wacken 2008, of which they previously released a live DVD, 'The Flames Of The End'. The album, 'Purgatory Unleashed - Live At Wacken', will be released on CD and limited edition vinyl. The limited edition first run of the CD will come in a special slipcase, and will be bundled with an At The Gates patch and a band signature guitar plectrum. The vinyl comes with an At The Gates poster and will be released in a variety of colours.

Tomas Lindberg, At The Gates' frontman, told us: "This show stands out as one of my career highlights. I'm very proud of
what we achieved during the summer of 2008 and the Wacken show is a
very good summary of that experience."

BLACK METAL PHOTOGRAPHER STARTS WORK ON NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES

Jeremy Saffer, the photographer of such bands as Lacuna Coil and Dimmu Borgir, has begun work on a series of nude photos using corpse paint to incorporate his love of black metal imagery.

As Jeremy explains: "I work mostly with bands, and dabble in some fine-art photography, and
being that black metal has had the longest tenure as my favorite genre
in metal, it made sense to some how cross the paths of my work.

"I am shooting fine-art and fashion style nude images with corpse paint — very elegant, standard poses…but also shooting very metal/creepy poses — so there's a good mix of traditional and non-traditional posing for both genres."

The photos will end up as both a book and calendar series. Jeremy previously published a book, 'Bring The Noise', which was a collection of photographs of bands ranging from Bleeding Through to Earth Crisis, which was highly successful.

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have confirmed their first ever tour of their homeland, in advance of a new UK tour. Liverpool's SSS will be joining them on the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland dates.

Gama Bomb frontman Philly Byrne commented: ""When we're busy gigging and recording everywhere else it's been easy
to neglect where we come from, so we're finally going to give our
patient Irish fans a chance to see us live without getting on a plane!"

London's Mutant will be supporting them on the UK dates. Gama Bomb have also been confirmed as support for Sepultura in July on their UK tour.

Orange Goblin have announce that there will be no new album for the foreseeable future; however, they will be playing a few club and festival dates this summer.

Orange Goblin have announce that there will be no new album for the foreseeable future. The band have said: "With everybody's commitments to work, family and other things, we have decided that it is best that we do not commit to any deadline for the next album as we wouldn't want to rush and deliver a record that we are not 100% happy with."

For similar reasons, the bands singer Ben Ward has announced that he has left the band Ravens Creed. He commented: "I wish the band all the succes and hope they make me regret this decision!"

At the Soundawn, the Italian post-rock outfit, are releasing their new record 'Shifting' in America on April 27. The album, which was released in Europe yesterday, is the follow up to their 2008 debut 'Red Square: We Come In Waves,' and the band have uploaded a song from the album, 'Mudra:In Acceptance And Regret' to their myspace.

The band have described the new record as "melting obscure landscapes and oriental impressions with huge streams of guitars and jazzy trumpets melodies."

Finnish battle metallers Turisas have started recording sessions for their new record, and have started a video diary of their studio time, which you can see below. The record is the successor to their two previous records, 'Battle Metal' and 'The Varangian Way.'

Vocalist Mathias Nygard commented: "With three years between albums, there's been enough time to find a fresh angle and new ideas not to repeat ourselves or albums we've done in the past. The songs rock big time, but the epic elements aren't going anywhere - it's going to sound larger than ever before. The leap forward is going to be just as big as between Battle Metal and The Varangian Way."
