If you have a website, chances are that many people are viewing your site right now on their mobile phone. The good news is, you have a website. The bad news is that traditional websites, even with some smart adaptation, are just not made to fully utilize smart phone features, like click to touch, calling, navigation and email or text features.

If you’ve had the awkward experience of trying to navigate a clumsy, big site on your smart phone, then you’re halfway to understanding the importance of delivering quick, easy to access information. And this is where the third factor comes in as a reason for getting a mobile site—at least some of your competitors have mobile sites, delivering a better customer experience and making it easy for customers to find, call and purchase what they seek.

Early adopters in Nevada County include Fudenjuce and Highland Springs Wellness Center, both have had their mobile sites active for a full year. Comparing the statistics from their overall website traffic, the mobile sites are trending up and already get nearly 30% of all website visitors. Analytics include not only unique users, but clicks to call, clicks to map and the devices used to access their sites. Another local business with a very active mobile site, Lefty’s Grill, was surprised to learn that many of its mobile users were accessing their site on iPads—an important trend as people turn to tablets and away from desktops or tablets for casual at home online access. John Cammack, partner at Lefty’s Grill is plain-spoken about mobile, “For a business not to have a mobile site is insane. Everyone is on mobile. I don’t even have a computer in my house anymore.” Chris Duncan, also a partner at Lefty’s notes that “It is important that the site isn’t constantly scrunching, moving and stretching when customers view it. Our menu, hours and map are easy to scroll through. I actually do about 80% of my searches on my phone.”

There are two key elements for any business owner to look at when it comes to considering a mobile site. First off, it’s where your customers are. According to Gartner, by the end of 2013, more people will use their mobile phone than desktop computers to get online and 99% of mobile users look up local information on their devices. Secondly, 88% of local info seekers make a purchase within one day and 90% of these people act within 24 hours. This means that not is mobile where your customers are, but it is where they are when ready to act on a purchase choice.

Many mobile sites use MDot technology, that is to say a mobile referring address that recognizes the device and delivers a mobile-friendly version of your WWW site to smart phones and tablets. Fees to edit or convert a traditional website to a mobile site vary, as do hosting plans. There are DIY editors, free services and upscale build-from-scratch systems. There are hybrid conversion systems that analyze available materials and assist in the conversion process. Some platforms, such as Word Press, offer Plug-Ins that recognize a mobile user and deliver a mobile-friendly site. The caution here is that a mobile-friendly site is not a mobile-enhanced site, with thumb-able, click-to features and a high degree of optimization.

Two years ago, the rush was on to develop smart phone applications. This now has become a distant second to high-performing mobile sites in addressing business needs. Apps provide services. Mobile sites drive customers to your business in a single step. Google is deeply invested in seeing the mobile future evolve. In late 2011 Google launched a mobile education initiative to assist in transitioning businesses to mobile. Google’s howtogomo.com provides the basics, statistics and samples of mobile sites. Mobile site investment is pretty minimal in most cases, compared to the potential returns. A rough guess-timate of costs by this author would be from $200- $800 for mobile site conversion from start to finish, along with annual hosting fees. Free or really inexpensive sites are out there to be found, but do not offer the premium smart features, control or freedom from advertising that is essential in a successful site, not to mention the technology learning curve in managing such a process.

A 2011 survey by Compuware, notes that 40% of users have turned to a competitor’s site after a bad mobile experience. Listen up, pick up your smart phone and get ready to go mobile.

Thumbler began building mobile websites in 2012. Thumbler.net has evolved into a digital agency, developing optimized websites, creating logos, social media channels, and straightening the tangle of connections already out there to make sense and build loyalty, awareness, and business. Not magic, just common sense and aligning digital footprints with business objectives. Find us at www.Thumbler.net

TechWacky -

There’s a dangerous form of internet piracy around these days called ‘phishing’ (it’s pronounced as ‘fishing’). Internet scam sites are ‘fishing’ for your personal and financial information. They’re always after new ways to trick you into handing over your Social Security Number, credit card details and other personal information that they can use or sell on to other fraudsters.

You might become victim to identity theft – a matter that can destroy your personal reputation and severely impact your credit worthiness. Becoming informed as to how these internet scams work and which sites to avoid, is the best way to protect yourself from becoming a victim.

How do these identity thieves get hold of your information?

Commonly, you’ll receive an email from a person or firm that you are familiar with which looks ‘real’ enough. It usually has a company logo, the email may even use your name. Generally upshot of the message is that they are looking after for your best interests. The message might alert you to some potential threat to your account, credit card or other financial matter. Usually the email ends by saying that you must take immediate action or suffer awful consequences.

There will be a hyperlink (the clickable text in the message) where you’re invited to click on. That will take you to their phishing web site. This is where most people are completely fooled. The website will look identical to the real thing with the company logo, graphics and so on – just on a different address.

At this point you will be prompted to ‘verify’ your account, password, or credit card details. If you do find yourself here, stop at that point. Never fill in any personal information. Exit from the website immediately and delete, clear your browser cache and delete the phishing message.

There are a number of website checkers such as Mywot which will tell you immediately if a site has a history of phishing. Alternatively sites like Bigthis.com will provide an aggregated report about the site’s reputation from all major online reviewer sources. It’s worth remembering that a site may have been hacked – in which case the official URL will be used. In this case it’s best to contact the company directly to wait for clarification.

How to identify what’s a ‘phishing’ email or site

If you didn’t contact this firm asking for details about your account, or for help with an issue, this is when you should be wary. If you’re not sure because it looks genuine, call the company directly and tell them about your concerns.

Contact phone numbers as well as fraud lines are usually printed on your monthly statements. If it is out of hours and there’s no one to answer, wait until the following business day when you can reach them.

Don’t fall for the ‘imminent threat’ message and feel you must do something immediately. ‘Phishers’ use this trick in the hope that you’ll click the link in blind panic before you realize what you’ve don’t – don’t panic and allow the fraudsters trick you into visiting their dodgy website.

What to do?

Don’t ever diclose your password or pin, over the internet, telephone, or when it is an impromptu request. Your bank knows what your password and credit card number is. They should not need to ask you for it.

Furthermore your bank already knows what your account, and social security number are. They won’t need to ask you to repeat it to them over the phone. In addition most have security policies that prevent them from asking such questions.

TechWacky
TechWacky -

Customer Relationship Management, or CRM for short, is the implementation of software and processes that are designed to assist companies with managing customer purchasing behaviors and trends in order to improve sales targeting and marketing strategies, among other things.

It is easy to confuse Customer Relationship Management with Customer service. Customer service deals specifically with the interaction of a company’s employees with clients, customers or the public in general. You know how important customer service is if you’ve ever had bad service, especially if that service was so bad that you never patronized the company ever again. But that is not CRM. CRM is the process of using sales statistics and analysis to improve the way that your company interfaces with your customers in order to improve business.

For instance, a grocery store that offers a savings card will store your shopping patterns in their computer whenever you shop. The benefit to you the customer is that you get more coupons that are more sharply targeted to the products that you tend to buy. The benefit to the company employing CRM techniques and or software is that you will more likely use those coupons at their store, thus increasing the company’s sales through improved targeted marketing strategies.

There are numerous companies that offer Customer Relationship Management training software. You can opt to purchase software that you integrate into your sales and marketing systems yourself, or you can hire a company that manages monthly business reporting to help better customize your CRM capabilities to match your company’s goals.

Different companies will use customer information in different ways. Think about how much more convenient it is when you call about a problem with your bill and the person on the other end of the phone is able to pull up your account information in detail. They are better able to assist you with your issue, leading to a better relationship with you the customer and allowing the employee to successfully assist their customers. Call centers have been using this capability for years to populate their phone lists to target their cold calls.

Technology is making CRM much easier to implement by utilizing mobile capabilities to get up to the minute information on your mobile devices, ensuring better, more interactive customer relationships. For businesses large and small, Customer Relationship Management is helping to enhance customer interaction.

TechWacky
TechWacky -

Blackberry has been rumoured for some time now to be designing a budget-friendly model to add to its line of popular smartphones which have many loyal followers. The recently leaked Blackberry R10, which has been seen in both white and a bright, almost hot, red according to those who have been lucky enough to spot this device in its earliest forms, seems to be the model that has been hinted at for some time now.

While these are rumoured changes and some speculation is involved there have been a number of reports that suggest one will lose very little in choosing the more budget friendly Blackberry model when it finally hits the market in the later part of 2013. The phone will continue to be the same size and will have the built in QWERTY keyboard that Blackberry users find so appealing.

There does seem to be some drawbacks for those who are media-driven as the camera will likely be scaled back to a 5MP version. Of course, the screen size will remain the same. With the standard Blackberry smaller screen and the scaled back camera some users may find this a disappointing model.

Battery life will be a bit shorter and as many have predicted this will likely be an 8 GB model which is less storage than the pricier Blackberry models available today offer. As this is meant to be a lower end version of the popular Q10 model these changes are not big surprises. One should not expect all of the features of the pricier models in this lower budget offering. However, it is assumed that the quality of this latest Blackberry model will be equal to that of its previous ones.

Physically, this model appears to be made out of plastics rather than the metal and fiberglass that the Q10 is known for on its sleek body. The Keyboard appears functional but is simply not as nice as the more refined keyboard on the Q10, at least from observations made of photos leaked earlier this month. The shape of the budget model is a little more rectangular than its more expensive predecessor and it seems to have a glossy plastic back that stands out in the leaked photos.

All in all, Blackberry certainly does have the need to introduce a lower cost model in order to increase its share of the market worldwide and to be able to infiltrate the markets in places where there has been growth but where affordability remains an issue. Given the popularity of their products in markets that simply cannot bear out the higher pricing of smartphones, it is essential that Blackberry offer an affordable model that will allow their users to upgrade.

In order to stay competitive Blackberry needs to jump on the low end smartphone bandwagon right away. Do you think the rumoured R10 will help Blackberry in these target markets? Is this a phone you would be interested in owning? Please leave your comments below.

This was made possible only because of the contribution of” Science and Technology”. During late 90s, cell phones were used by aristocratic and rich people to lead a comfort life. But today in this world one can afford to forget his/her accessories but not the cell phone.

In early decades, people had no habit of using cell phone cases as they are tough and strong but now-a-days, it is necessary to have a cell phone case to protect the damage caused from dropping onto the ground and also from direct contact of alien particles because of touch screen which may be scratched. These phone cases add a trendy look to the phone that shows the taste and personality. While buying one should be sure that it has long term durability, specially designed for the cell and it should not be very cheap. One should choose the best quality of material for the cell cover. There are many crafty and artistic designs of covers to attract customers.

Android cell phones are little bit advanced and we have to learn how to operate it. This device provides many exciting features. Firstly it provides Google apps to make friendly with the world, and also many excitement games to play. It’s the quickest and easiest way to know the power of Google. This doesn’t require any wires or related connections for which we can move freely wherever we want. It’s the most demanding device which makes the life comfortable and creates uniqueness in it. We can surf any stuff/thing without leaving the home screen of the cell. It has some special notifications that quickly access our calls and can do many things at a time. The best handsets are Samsung, Sony and Motorola etc. It also varies in shape and sizes with high quality of display, clarity and camera.

Wholesale cell phones are sold in bulk manner and are sold in lower price so that it can cause benefit to the retailer and the customer. These goods are specially china made products that offers discount over such accessories. Similarly, the wholesale cell phone cases are sold by the Chinese wholesalers. Here in the wholesale market, supply the spare parts of cell phone products. Their products in general are very trendy and attractive.

Here are a few tips to get your mobile phone keep going.

1. Weak phone signals use up more power

Mobile phones use up more battery power when the cell phone signal is low. So always keep your phone in an area where the signal is strong to avoid battery drain or else your phone will be completely drained of battery. Do not keep your phone in a purse or briefcase where it catches fewer signals.

2. Mobile phones need to be restarted

With all the excellent apps available on your phone it might be irresistible to turn your phone off. But smart phones have to be restarted every now and then to avoid the memory usage by apps running in the background and for correcting other things that might slow your phone’s performance.

3. Smart phones become slow as the time passes by

Operating system is designed for smart phone and updated with their fast processors, expandable memory, cameras. One can update the OS and apps as time passes by but as your phone gets old it becomes hard for it to handle the new apps, the upgraded OS etc.

4. Videos use up much data

Most of the phone carriers offer only 2 GB monthly data allowances. If you watch videos then it is going to gobble up the data very fast. For example if you watch one movie it will use up 700MB of your data. Apart from this online music streaming, games etc also use up he date fast. So try to use Wi-Fi connection as much as possible instead of data connections when using the internet.

5. Avoid screen protectors

Most of the smart phones these days come with touch screens that are protected by Gorilla corning glass, which makes the glass getting scratches impossible. These screen protectors do a good job reducing the glare; however it makes the display less responsive. These screen protectors also develop air bubbles however well they are installed.

6. Phone cases

Smart phones come with the cases made of carbon fiber or other tough materials and they offer good protection to the phone. However most of the smart phone users use phone cases additionally for more protection to their phone. But these hinder the access to the phone’s buttons etc.

7. Phone camera zoom

Phone camera is different from the standard cameras. Cell phones do not have optical zoom lenses but digital zoom. So when the user tries to zoom the camera when clicking a picture, the pixels are enlarged and the image details are reduced. So, it is better to move closer to the subject to click a picture rather than using a zoom. So if you can buy a add on lens which it over the smart phone’s lens hence you can click pictures without the quality being reduced.

8. Warranties and insurance

It is very costly to replace your smart phone with a new one and a recent survey showed that 15% of the people bought a new phone because the old one is broken and 2% because their phone was stolen. The warranties are costly too. All in all buying a new phone is a costly affair and if it is smart phone, the costs only rise up. So, it is advisable to keep the old phone until the contract period is over or has reached a state where it can no longer be used.

9. Prepaid carriers

Earlier only basic model phones were had access to prepaid plans, but now even smart phone are offered prepaid plans by some phone carriers. This way you will save a lot of money.

10. Negotiate the prices

Bargain with the mobile phone carriers to lower the cell phone price. You will save a lot of money.

Evernote (Free)

Evernote is certainly not a home organization specific app. It’s not even designed with something like that in mind, but, this is its greatest strength: this simple but extraordinarily powerful app is so versatile that you can not only use it to note down every conceivable bit of information relating to keeping your home well maintained, you can also expand outwards from there and keep track of anything else you need to schedule or keep in mind during your daily life.

With Evernote, you can make notes, take pictures, capture shots of interesting websites –say sites with home decorating or organizing ideas—and save them all as snippets inside an app that lets you categorize and search across all this information quickly and easily. Best of all, it’s also capable of searching for text inside photos and screen captures and it can synchronize anything you save inside it across multiple devices for quick and easy reference on the go.

2. Photo Manager Pro ($2.99)

How many of us have hundreds or even thousands of family photos scattered across our computers, phones, camera memories and homes in the form of actual physical photographs? For many households, all these pictures eventually become a large, endlessly delayed hassle that never gets sorted through despite its importance as a powerful source of nostalgia.

This is where photo Manager Pro comes in. This handy app lets you instantly aggregate together every picture you’ve sent or scanned to any given device and categorize all of these images based on importance or just about any other criteria. You can then search by geotag, keywords, genre or anything else. Additionally, images can be separated into folders with different levels of privacy and also quickly uploaded to numerous social media pages. Photo Manager won’t get rid of the work involved in actually getting your images to it, but once there, sorting them all has just become 10 times easier.

3. Any.DO (Free)

Any.DO is a fairly simple and straightforward list making application that lets you set up to-do lists on the fly. Seems pretty basic, but in this case, the magic of Any.DO lies in the fact that it digitizes the formerly messy scribbling process of noting lists down on paper or scattering them across a bunch of different electronic documents and calendars. The stylish and simple interface of this little list making app lets you quickly prepare the things you need to do, synchronize these notes across devices and get reminders for upcoming stuff.

Other features include a completely intuitive design and voice recognition system for letting you make notes without the hassle of typing them in. Home organization invariably depends on lists and Any.DO is the solution for creating them.

4. Epicurious (Free)

If you’ve ever wanted a recipe for anything while right in the middle of grocery shopping or as you’re rooting through your fridge, then Epicurious is completely your tool! This extremely handy app contains over 30,000 recipes for everything from desserts to drinks to full course dinner meals right at the tip of your hand be it through your iPad, iPhone or Android device of any kind. The Epicurious app even comes preloaded right into certain touch screen interface enabled Samsung refrigerators.

Giving you access to 30,000+ recipes is just a part of what Epicurious can do: it also lets you search for meal ideas based on keywords, ingredients at hand and anything you might be curious about at the market. Easy sharing of food ideas across social media accounts and email is another useful feature.

5. BillMinder (Free)

Financial planning and household budgeting are two major parts of what keeps your home running smoothly. With BillMinder, doing these sorts of tasks has never been easier. This extremely powerful little app lets you gather all your monthly bills together organize them under its interface and run every household payment straight from there from then on.

Notifications about due dates make sure that you never forget a single bill payment before its becomes past due and a handy, security protected auto-pay feature even lets you take care of certain payments right from the app itself. Additionally, BillMinder lets you collect data about all of your spending habits through a series of handy charts and graphs, then use it all to maintain a precise, and balanced, monthly spending plan.

6. Home Inventory ($19.99)

Much pricier than the rest of the apps on this list, home inventory is an app that not only lets you organize every major item in your home into an inventoried list, it can also be a total lifesaver during the hopefully unlikely case of a disaster or theft insurance claim filing.

What Home Inventory does is create an easy to use, detailed listing of all the purchased items you have in your house. You can sort things like furniture, electronics, art and almost anything else of value by photographs, descriptions, serial/model numbers or other categories of your own choosing. You can also create detailed descriptions of each item and upload photos of identifying features and ownership documents like receipts.

Like we said, perfect for keeping track of things during an insurance claim or after a burglary.

7. LifeTopix ($1)

This app is basically a mix of several different organization tools all rolled into one single user friendly package. With LifeTopix, there is almost no limit to the size and scope of things you can do when it comes to coordinating activities, making to-do lists and keeping track of valuable information like medical bills, household expenses, travel plans or practically anything at all.

The LifeTopix interface is divided into several different sections that let you divide all your home related digital organization based on type, task or data format. Moving into the different categories, you can specifically organize coupons, events, bills, itineraries and so many other things that it’s hard to describe them all here. Additionally, the apps lets you update your entire organizational roster to cloud services or share parts of it to social media or another mobile device for easy coordination with family members.

If you decide to go for just one home organization or self storage app for your iPad or smart phone, get LifeTopix.
