A brief background of what is Earth Hour all about

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

Finally Microsoft has ended it’s IE 8’s beta state.  Internet Explorer 8 will be made available for download around 12:00 noon in New York time.

Microsoft will showcase the final browser and outline benefits and opportunities for a variety of audiences on March 19 at Microsoft’s MIX09 conference for web designers and developers in Las Vegas.

The Senate approval of the measure at midnight Wednesday finally discarded the fraud-prone manual counting of votes in the country.

Instead of writing on ballots, voters will shade the spaces allotted for the names of candidates. The ballots will then be inserted into the optical machine readers to be placed in clustered precincts all over the country.

Melo said the Comelec would pursue the nationwide automation of elections, despite opposition and skepticism from certain lawmakers and information technology professionals.

Tom showed us Warcraft III running on Wine on an Ubunto box. He even played a little and yes! it runs fast on an opengl video mode. 3DMark 2000 was also demoed running on Wine.

Other applications like Windows Media Player, Microsoft office 2003, Internet Explorer, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop runs also on Linux operating system on top of Wine.  Wine runs on FreeBSD too, Tom is a FreeBSD user also.
