F.E.A.R. Combat is a free multiplayer component from the original PC first-person shooter F.E.A.R which is undoubtably one of the best horror shooters ever. It is basically the multiplayer component of the actual game FEAR, generously offered for Sierra. It’s a run ‘n’ gun kind of game where fast reflexes and shooting while running and ducking are the name of the game. This game blends great graphics, awesome gameplay and great maps all together in a small but great package. Another great thing about it is that it will let you play against the owners of the retail version of F.E.A.R. as well as the other F.E.A.R. Combat users. Internet is already flooded with tons of free to play FPS and other shooters but be assured FEAR Combat is undoutablbly one of the the best looking free to play FPS out there from the acclaimed developers Monolith. The graphics, special effects, and physics are although dated for 2009 but are in-fact pretty awesome, unmatched by most of the free to play FPS’s out there. Please visit www.joinfear.com to register for a required F.E.A.R. Combat authentication key. The download is around 1.8 gigs and the minimum specs for the game are pretty much same as the original shooter FEAR.

Have you ever wondered if it was possible for your daily news paper to be like a small television like The Daily Prophet(a newspaper) from the famous Harry potter movies with scrolling text moving pictures and videos. You would probably say such newspapers are surely a ting of fantasy or would easily take 10-20 more years to become a reality but not according to BBC News. According to them Harry Potter style newspapers and newspaper ads will soon become a thing of the past. Appearing for the first time in the September 18th editions of Entertainment Weekly(a popular paper magazine) in Los Angeles and New York, slim-line screens will be embedded into the printed pages to offer video in these paper magazines making the content life like and moving similar to the Harry potter movies. The chips that store the video (up to 40 minutes worth and rechargeable via miniUSB) are activated upon a page turn and are very similar to the technology used in the singing greeting cards and the fold-able and flexible video screen uses the native liquid crystal display(LCD) technology found in your TV-sets and computer monitors. The first units will display advertisements from Pepsi and CBS, and are expected to revolutionize magazine advertisement but will take some more time to make an appearance in your daily newspapers.

Areca Backup is basically an open source backup solution for windows and Linux. It basically allows you to select a set of files or directories to back-up, choose where and how (as a simple file copy, as a zip archive,) you will like them be stored, and configure post-backup actions (like sending backup reports by email or launching custom shell scripts). Areca is a very simple and easy to use program, your backup configuration (which is stored as an XML file) can be edited with Areca’s simple graphical user interface which requires any complex configuration files to edited.

Main features:

1. Backup Engine Features :

Backup reports : Areca generates backup reports that can be stored on your disk or sent by email.

Post backup scripts : Areca can launch shell scripts after backup.

Files permissions, symbolic links and named pipes can be stored and recovered. (Linux only)

The popular Japanese phone strap retailer StrapyaNext started accepting pre-orders in Japan and US for one of the the coolest cell phone accessories around aka Street Fighter Joystick Cellphone Straps. These limited edition tiny Joy joysticks comes in four in four different versions- Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, and Chun Li versions, play Street Fighter IV voice clips in response to the correct button command. I am a huge fan of the street fighter series and still play the original and also street fighter 4 with my buddies now and then. Only 1,000 each of these limited edition Joystick will be made making it a must have collectors item. These bad boys will be sold at the Ikebukuro Tokyu Hands shop, and at the Tokyo Game Show, for ¥1,260 ($13). Its a bad news for me though I can’t get my hands on these one. These tiny joysticks can play Street Fighter IV voice clips in response to the correct button command. For example, if you input down, right, and punch on the Ryu Real Voice Action Cell Phone Strap, it will play “Hadouken!” as shown in the clip below.

Dell is making news again with the official unveiling of the lastest Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition netbook PC especially designed for kids and the kid within you. Dell and Nickelodeon have teamed up and the final result is what we see in the pics below. Stocked with an Atom N270 processor (could have been better), 1GB RAM, up to 160GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LCD display, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1.3 Megapixel webcam (the kids are gonna like it but parents won’t), the hardware configuration suggests that it is built around the Mini 10v’s. Notebook is designed to look like it has been slimed which gives it a nicer fell to it. The price is unknown till now, but we can assume that it’ll very close Mini 10v’s $300 as both comes with the same hardware inside. apart from the fancy pint-job. Security wise it will come with a load of parental controls options thanks to a 15 month trial version of McAfee and bundled too will be a handfull of educational applications targeted especially at the kids. The best thing about this notebook is that it weighs only 3 pounds, making it one of the lightest notebooks around and thus the kids will easily be able to carry it with them around anywhere. The Nickelodeon Inspiron hits Dell’s online stores and other (stores) sometime in October later this year.

The Nickelodeon Inspiron Mini may lack the power and punch in terms of hardware and performance but arguably it is one of the coolest looking creations of Dell thus far.
