Sri Balaji Society, Pune which houses four B-schools in Pune & One in Noida, Balaji Institute of Modern Management (BIMM), Balaji Institute of Telecom & Management (BITM), Balaji Institute of International Business (BIIB), Balaji Institute of Management & Human Resources Development (BIMHRD) and Balaji Institute of Management Studies, Nodia (BIMS). The admission process for the academic year 2012-14 has started off late and is going on at present. Our portal talked to Prof. (Col.) Balasubramanian, President, Sri Balaji Society, to know more about the process.

Prof. (Col.) Balasubramanian mentioned that it has been a week since the admission process has started. Talking about that, he mentions, “We have started the process about a week ago. Though we have started rather late, but we have so far received good response.”

When asked about the challenges faced due to the late start, he responded by saying, “We did face some challenges due to the late start in terms of a slow start but things are much better now. Thanks to our strong alumni base and the reputation it has, we have not faced such grave challenge. We have successfully started our GD PI processes and are going on with it.”

Talking about the shortlisting and selection criteria of the B-schools, Prof. (Col.) A Balasubramanian states that the scores of CAT, MAT and CMAT are accepted. “We do not believe in shortlisting students through a particular cut off mark. We select candidates through GD, PI, Extempore and role playing processes which are conducted during the selection rounds. 30 per cent weightage is given to entrance exam score, GD, PI respectively and 10 per cent weightage is given to the performance in extempore and role play.”

The GD PI processes will be over by May 26 and the merit list will be declared by June 08, 2012. The session will start from June 28, 2012.

AIEEE 2012 is probably being conducted for the last time. This test will most likely be replaced by ASEET. There will be a lot of anxiety among students as to whether it’ll be easier this time, or more difficult.

On 29th April, more than 10 lac students are expected to sit for this test to compete for a few thousand seats. This makes the competition really hard. The students will be under pressure to perform, and highly anxious to know how well they fared in the exam.

However, they will not have to wait long for the solutions. They can get AIEEE Answer Key, AIEEE 2012 solutions & AIEEE 2012 cutoff on www.TCYonline.com. Subject experts at TCYonline will solve the questions and upload AIEEE-2012 solutions on the website by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the exam itself. Students will get answer keys for all sections: Physics, Chemistry and Math.

Aspirants from all over the nation will be able to log on to http://www.tcyonline.com/exam-analysis/aieee-2012-solutions and compare their answers to the correct answers. As more and more aspirants compare their answers and leave their expected scores on the website, an indicative picture of the expected overall cut-off, as well as the sectional cut-offs, will also begin to emerge.

Students will also have the opportunity to clear their doubts by leaving questions/ queries on the website for the subject experts.

About AIEEE-2012

AIEEE consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The duration of each paper is of three hours.

Paper 1 has three sections: - Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with equal weight for each subject. Each section consists of multiple choice objective-type questions with four choices, out of which only one choice is correct. Paper 1 has a negative-marking scheme wherein an incorrect answer attracts penalty of one fourth of the maximum marks allotted to the question.

Paper 2 has three sections: – Mathematics, Drawing, and Aptitude. Mathematics, and Drawing sections have multiple choice objective-type questions and the Aptitude section has drawing-based questions.

Management education evolved in the 1960s in India at the premier management Institutions. Most institutions which followed the success of premier management institutions cyclostyled & standardized MBA curriculum so senselessly that it does not add any value in career building but help as a certificate for petty job seekers. There is a strong need to bring a substantial amount of freshness & cut down the clutter that prevails across the board under disguise of classical educational practices and our rich heritage.

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore which is just one year old has been privileged with opportunities to challenge every bit of stereotypes and staleness in approach, structure & learning process in management education. A series of innovation in management education makes the institute believe that career building can be achieved through a creative process which facilitate full expression of dreams and passion by all its stakeholders

Building blocks of the Institution:

Culture of ‘why not’: Bureaucracy, authoritarian behavior, hierarchy, and the traditional practices in the dynamism of the current society at large is detrimental and regressive removing a sense of belonging and leadership, therefore, is completely done away with at the Institute.

Catalyst: the term Student is largely associated with passive learners and therefore all the participants at the institute are addressed as catalyst from first day. They are seen as contributors and faculty do not teach nor guide but facilitate them to explore, think and create.

Educational Thrust- a difference maker: The 21st century has seen the World Wide Web permeate every aspect of life. The future lies in innovation, creativity, new ideas and entrepreneurship, and in thinking out of the box. The Institute is the first in South East Asia to conceptualize a contemporary management education with inclusion of digital business management practices.

Innovations in Management Education

Impact Makers: Leadership Privilege Earning Points: everyone at the institute has to create new idea and innovate on new perspectives leading to concrete results, and earn Privileges points. These points can be redeemed for monetary/non-monetary rewards & honors.

Mentoring young Enterprises to transformation for two years: YEMP –Chisel: Students under the YEMP- Chisel are attached to an innovative company for a period of two years as mentors- not interns or managers- to help organizations bring in contemporary strategies and best practices and improve overall business performance.

Innovative Campus Enterprises– breaking away from conventional approach to MBA and it is actually becoming more than MBA and just not MBA+. All the students experience a complete cycle of entrepreneurship and strategic management.

Workshop mode: The institute has moved away from traditional session based class structure to workshop mode. A course is broken into four to five workshops which consist of learning about concepts and new development, with immediate evaluation.

The learning process: The philosophy followed is that course material, notes and articles can be sourced, it is the experience that a student carries that matters, and it is un-imitable. The pedagogy used is very unique making learning relevant, current, and memorable and lots of fun.

The Paperless Digital Office: The Institute is completely paperless and no session materials is photocopied and distributed among students and instead uploaded on the academic ERP. The purpose is dual- to make every process faster, smoother, better and also to help protect the environment.

Campus life: Signature Events and clubs: Living on campus gives students a chance to roll up their sleeves to get involved in a variety of activities and get hands on experience in day in and day out through a variety of clubs. The Institute also has signature events, namely, ENCORE, CAMPUS LIFE, PITCH DA PLAN, and MUDRA, Youth Empowerment of the Corporate, and various workshops, seminars and roundtables on very unique topics, amongst others.

Conclusion: A new institutional culture needs a very different set of institutional systems. It cannot be built through administrative driven rules which do not create but restricts and make everyone mediocre.

B-School Admission Virtual Fair is being organised by TCYonline.com from 27th-31st January and will feature some of the best B-Schools from across India. The virtual fair will remain live 24 hours a day. The participating B-Schools have the option of staffing their virtual booths at the own convenience and from the comfort of their own desks.

Because the internet is moving us towards a seamless world, and because physically attending a fair requires an investment in terms of time and effort, a virtual fair is the best platform for both the educational institutions and the students. Because of geographical constraints, a physical fair does not get participation from all over the country. With a virtual fair, that limitation is effectively removed. In the upcoming B-School Admission Virtual Fair being organized by TCYonline.com, students will be able to browse information on several institutions on one platform. They will also be able to chat with the experts, watch videos about the participating institutions, read about the institutes, find out the fee structure, take a look at the placement reports, and submit their documents online for evaluation and for spot admission offers. The students will also be able to see the various streams of MBA being offered by the various institutes.

The B-School Admission Virtual Fair will also provide the participating institutes a platform to evaluate students from all over the country and hand-pick candidates according to their standards and requirements. Some of the top B-Schools in India, like TAPMI, Alliance University, IFIM, RIMS, IIMT, SOIL, Jindal Global Business School, Jaipuria Institute of Management and other reputed B-Schools will be participating in the fair. Mukta Gogia, General Manager, TCYonline.com, talking about the fair said, “Because physical fairs take place only in big cities, their reach and potential remains limited. The institutes are not able to connect with the students from smaller cities and towns. By leveraging technology, we aim to reduce this gap between the institutes and the students and to offer both an interactive and innovative platform where they can interact with each other while saving cost and time. Moreover, why waste time on traveling when you can avail the same benefits from the comfort of your own desk”.

To participate in virtual fair, visit www.edufair.tcyonline.com/

Entrance examination would consist of two papers i.e. 1st paper consisting of three parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of equal weight age with objective type questions for B.E/B.Tech courses in offline/online mode and 2nd paper – consisting of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing for B.Architecture and B. Planning in offline mode. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness.

Scoring and Negative Marking

There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet. The candidates appearing for Offline Exam are advised not to attempt such item in the answer sheet if they are not sure of the correct response. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked. All objective type questions are required to be answered on specially designed machine gradable answer sheets. Answers are to be marked using ball point pen (black/blue) only. For the purpose of evaluation, Test Booklet Code as printed in the Answer Sheet on Side-2 will be accepted as final.
