Given the uncritical thoughtless idolitry harbored by some American for President Obama, these comparisons outdo them in absurdity.  First of all "diversity" is not a human virtue - it's the reflection on a collection of humans who happen to look different, which isn't something intellectual in nature and informs nothing.

Second of all, Germans don't need "an Obama".  They need what the rest of humanity needs, which is honest, accountable elected officials who address a society's needs in a way that a society accepts, and ISN'T idolized like a nacent tin pot dictator.

The other thing which seem sicker still is this simplistic desire in European society to find a "world leader" as in a "leader for the world", which smack of servility and fear on the part of the public, and a hope that all debates will be between two people who agree with each other.</description>
