NEW YORK – May 17, 2012 – The CW Network presented its 2012-13 broadcast schedule today to advertisers, affiliates and national media at the New York City Center in New York City.  Hip-hop star Flo Rida opened the show with a medley of his top hits, featuring the world premiere of his newest song, “Let it Roll (Good Times).”

“One of our biggest priorities this year at The CW was adding more original programming, and we’ve added 50 original hours to our schedule in 2012,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.  “With dynamic new dramas for the fall and midseason, and our first-ever summer schedule leading into our October fall launch, this is poised to be a transformative season for The CW.

“The dramas we have for next season are outstanding, with relatable characters and breakout stars. ‘Arrow,’ starring Stephen Amell in the title role, is a bold, edge-of-your-seat action show, based on the popular DC Comics character; ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’ is funny, emotional, and we have caught lightning in a bottle with an incredible lead actor in Mamie Gummer; ‘Beauty and the Beast’ takes a classic love story and adds a procedural element; ‘The Carrie Diaries,’ with the story of a young Carrie Bradshaw set in the 1980s, is perfect for our audience; and ‘Cult’ is a chilling psychological thriller. We have an unbelievable variety of high quality dramas, all speaking to the 18-to-34-year old audience, set for next season.”

The CW will plan to strategically rollout its new fall season starting in early October 2012.  Specific dates to be announced at a later time.

On Monday nights, the most famous zip code in America, 90210, returns at 8:00-9:00 p.m., and GOSSIP GIRL will wrap up its six-season run of OMFG drama at 9:00-10:00 p.m.  In January, new series THE CARRIE DIARIES, starring AnnaSophia Robb as the incomparable and iconic Carrie Bradshaw growing up in the 1980s, will follow in GOSSIP GIRL’s stylish heels at 9:00-10:00 p.m.

Tuesdays The CW will play doctor, with HART OF DIXIE, starring Rachel Bilson, bringing its dose of Southern hospitality to 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by new medical drama EMILY OWENS, M.D. from 9:00-10:00 p.m., starring Mamie Gummer as a surgical intern who discovers, much to her dismay, that working in a hospital feels an awful lot like high school.

The CW gives Wednesday a double dose of high-octane action, with new series ARROW, starring Stephen Amell as the popular DC Comics character, at 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by this year’s People’s Choice Award-winner for Best Network Drama, SUPERNATURAL, 9:00-10:00 p.m.

Thursday nights The CW’s bloody-good drama THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is back for more heart-stopping thrills and romance, followed by new series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, starring Kristin Kreuk as a homicide detective and Jay Ryan as a doctor with a dark side… a really dark side.

Fridays are filled with fierce females, with AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL moving to a new night and time, 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by Maggie Q’s return to action as NIKITA, 9:00-10:00 p.m.

New drama CULT, starring Matt Davis as a journalist looking for his brother, who went missing after becoming obsessed with a hit TV show about a menacing cult leader, will premiere at midseason, with a date and time to be announced later.

It comes as no surprise that Gossip Girl has been renewed for a short 10 or 11 episode final season since the writers have been bragging about it all season long. Despite having the lowest ratings on the CW besides Ringer the show has been renewed for a final season. Sara Goodman is also taking over as EP for the final season.

In addition to Gossip Girl being renewed The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, 90210, Nikita and Heart of Dixie have also been renewed. The CW has also picked up five new pilots that include The Carrie Diaries and Cult which are from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire Production Company along with Arrow, Beauty and The Beast and First Cut.

At the expense of Gossip Girl’s renewal for a final season The Secret Circle has been cancelled along with Ringer.

Did the title of this article make you happy? Josh Safran has been tapped to take over as showrunner on the second season of NBC’s Smash, so what does that mean for the sixth (and final) season of Gossip Girl? Well it is undecided who will replace him but let’s hope Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage return in some capacity to do the possible final season of Gossip Girl some justice.

I can do no such thing, love! Buuuuuuut, I will relay what executive producer Josh Safran told me about the matter. “Bart has been on the show since his death — as a ghost, in flashbacks. There are also alternate realities,” he says. “I’m not going to say anymore than that but it is not beyond us to have Bart back on the show for an episode

Gossip Girl finally awakes from its month long slumber to throw us back into new stories of drama. Jack is back because Chuck wants to thank him for saving his life after the accident. But Chuck quickly learns through a hilarious scheme that Jack Bass was not the one to save his life. Ivy is trying to be an UES princess, but can’t seem to do so when Serena and Lily are bad mouthing her using Serena’s column at The Spectator.  Meanwhile, Nate is trying to keep The Spectator afloat using the van der Woodsen drama to secure financial backers, but Serena somehow messes things up when she decides to play double duty as Gossip Girl. William is caught in a jam with Carol who wants her money, so it’s up to him to get Ivy to pay him so he will have evidence of wrong doing on Ivy’s part.  Ivy actually did nothing wrong, but Lola is there to back up her new family and all of Ivy’s assets are frozen.  And then there’s Dair, they are going through a sexual crisis of some sort.  They can’t find the time alone and when they finally do…the sex isn’t what they thought it would be.  But that’s nothing a couple of drinks can’t fix and then the two finally loosen up, they get it in.

Now that you know what happened in the episode, let’s take it to the lists:

So Scandalous

• Lily giving Blair the side eye!
• Will Serena become Gossip Girl lets how so the UES needs some spice in its life again.
• William says he never wants to hurt Serena and Eric again, but when will they find out the truth?  This is Gossip Girl and the truth always comes out.
• Carol is still trying to get her hands on some money.  Why doesn’t William just let the truth out so Carol doesn’t have the upper hand?
• Serena using her Gossip Girl power!  Will she use it for good or evil though?
• Shocker Jack did not donate blood to Chuck but who did? Diana, Elisabeth or could it be gasp Bart?
• Jack being so rude to sick children. Jack: “Since when do ribbon cuttings include cripple children?”
• Jack Bass. He was absolutely killing it in this episode of the Gossip Girl.  “Another needle in an arm doesn’t sound like a celebration unless it’s putting something in.” “They also asked me if I used drugs or slept with prostitutes.  I told them what they wanted to hear to save your life.”
• Chuck Bass playing Jack Bass with a pretend sick child. I just love a Chuck Bass scheme.
• Dan and Blair having no sexual chemistry.  And I don’t know if you caught it at the end when they were leaving the party, Blair insisted that she needed ANOTHER drink.  Does she need to be drunk to be with Dan?  Is this the start of a good relationship?
• Did Serena really screw things up with the Spectator by being Gossip Girl for a day? Yes party guests wanted to speak to her, but she couldn’t have gotten away for just a quick minute or worked from her iPhone?  iPhones do everything!
• Nate fires Serena…and she thinks she shouldn’t have been fired.  Nate: “I was right not to trust you with this or anything else.” Yes Serena, you may have been trying to help out your family, but you forgot about your job and your friend Nate.
• Lily really not wanting to live in Brooklyn.  What kind of problems is this going to cause for Rufus and Lily?

So Sweet

• Serena back at her job writing her SxS blog
• Lots of old time memories happening in this episode:  Jack and Chuck hanging out, Rufus making waffles, Nate giving Dan girl advice.  It was just choked filled of Gossip Girl oldies.
• Serena being a loving caring cousin by telling Lola they were the only family she had left. Serena so needs a new BFF.
• Lola and Nate having some sweet scenes together.  Can you believe that Nate has actually settled down with a NORMAL girl?
• Jack: “I like to think of myself as the Magic Johnson of Hep C.”
• Nate: “ Does this sudden onset of alcoholism have something to do with Blair?”
• We finally get to see Dorota’s baby and it’s a boy. And Dorota was there giving some good advice to Blair.  The whole exchange between Blair and Dorota and Nate and Dan and how it was edited together was pure Gossip Girl genius.  Plus, Dorota had some good lines including this one: “It took honest communication to turn Vayna from boy to man in the bedroom”
• Lola having a heart to heart with William. Will William ever to Lola that he is actually her father?
• Chuck is trying to find Elisabeth to thank her?  I think us GG fans should look a little deeper.  Maybe he’s just looking for some answers that will come in the form of Diana Payne.

So Not Real

• Can’t Nate find someone from his rolodex to bank roll his operation.  What’s the point in having a good name if you can’t use it?
• Ivy really caring about what Lily and Serena say about her when she was the one who took all of their money. Why is Ivy not the one holding the power card here?  It makes no sense.
• Really Cedric is still around? How old are you Dan?  And why would BLAIR really be worried about a cabbage patch looking at her?
• Have Blair and Dan seriously not been able to seal the deal off screen yet?  Blair is a highly sexual person so I find this really hard to believe.  And this has been a moment Dan has been waiting for…for like forever!
• Lily really hates being in Brooklyn and living in the loft.  But haven’t we heard that Brooklyn isn’t such a bad place anymore.  Plus, Lily is a remodeling champ!  She would have had that kitchen redone in 5 minutes.
• Is Ivy seriously trying to live the life of a UES princess? Don’t you think she should have toned it down a notch for just a couple of weeks before jumping in full swing into the UES social scene?
• The van der Woodsen clan wouldn’t be this mean to Ivy publically.  First off, this airs their dirty laundry to the world and second, Ivy is holding all the power cards.  For a family full of liars and manipulators, I would think they would know the way to win Ivy over is to kill her with kindness!
• Why is Blair even bothering sneaking around risking her family’s fortune? She should so be wearing a scarlet letter has she even filed for divorce yet.
• Did Nate really imply that sex was bad with Blair? He never showed it, maybe that was one of the things that happened off screen.
• Blair and Serena did not interact not once this episode. She really has become isolated from her real friends.
• Blair is actually getting off on public sex?  Wasn’t that a Chair thing?

Lots of fans have been questioning the events of Season 5 including what is about to happen in the upcoming episodes with Blair and Lonely Boy. Josh Safran has been at it promoting what is going to happen in the remainder of Season 5. He just can’t get enough of his precious Lonely Boy getting the girl of his dreams as if he won a prize. I came across an interesting question in The Hollywood Reporter which gives us an answer as to what has been going on in Season 5; It all happened off screen.

THR: Will Chuck and Blair find out that Tripp endangered their lives in “Riding in Town Cars With Boys”?

Safran: It’s one of those things where in our minds we believed that they do know. It was off-screen. So many months passed in that hiatus that we figured that Nate and Serena told them and Tripp has been taken care of. I realize that we should have shined a light on it but we had so much going on with Blair and Chuck in that episode back.

So like the majority of the events that were once upon a time important on screen the resolution gets handled off screen. We never got to see Blair mourn the loss of her child because it happened off screen. We only got to see a handful of Blair and Serena bonding moments because the rest of it happened off screen while they were sharing a bathroom. We haven’t seen Blair and Nate say two words to each other because it happened off screen. Dorota will give birth to her baby off screen because we already saw her first born being born and Blair’s reaction to Dorota giving birth will happen off screen. We never got to witness Blair be a prison bride because Louis just went back to Monaco and is to never be heard from again.

Are you over and done with everything interesting happening off screen? Will you watch the rest of the season even though it looks like it will be Blair and Lonely boy centric or will you just read our recaps? Do you hope Serena and Chuck find happiness? Do you hope Nate gets a storyline that actually involves him doing something instead of just hooking up with the latest guest star?

Who would have ever thought this day would seriously come and last the rest of Season 5. Ever since Season 4 the writers have planned to make this so called relationship happen. Over the past few days Josh Safran has been at it again giving interviews for the return of Gossip Girl this coming Monday April 2^nd. Are you excited for the return of Gossip Girl, given the promos and the press releases, we are going to have more of Blair and Lonely Boy than ever. Are you excited or just already over it?

According to Safran Blair has chosen Lonely Boy because he has always accepted her and has always been by her side and they will be together for the rest of the Season. All season long Safran has dragged Chair fans through the mud telling them to keep watching, well Chair fans you have your answer. It really looks like you will not get the reunion you have been waiting for all season long. Do you want Chuck and Blair back together at this point or do you hope Chuck moves on and finds happiness and tells Blair to screw herself?

Her are a few excerpts from various interviews Safran has given over the past few days:

What’s ahead for Dan and Blair? Will they be happy for a while?
For us it’s been about, we knew we were going to tell the story that Blair has always wanted to be a princess, way back in season one, ever since she was a child, she’s wanted to be a princess. So now that that lifelong dream is gone, she’s able to step back and go, “Wow, that dream is over so what’s my next dream, who am I going to be next?” It’s really allowing her to come into her own and grow in a great way, with Dan by her side, is someone who has always accepted that growth in her. Her relationship with Chuck has always been fraught with a little bit of antagonism, it’s been sexy and also they tried to be there for each other but then things get in the way. And here she finally has a guy who is like, you go off and do what you need to do and I’ll be here. It’s fun to see when she comes back into her own. We have a storyline that’s coming up, that’s one of my favorite storylines ever in all five seasons for Blair. And I think the fans are really going to love. It’s pure vintage Blair.

Do you know the endgame for Blair and the others romantically?
Right now we’re only looking at endgame for this season because that’s how we are approaching it. I don’t want to say there is an answer because right now there isn’t actually a question. Blair is with Dan and that’s what it is. But it’s more about what happens when, Dan and Blair’s relationship is going to be challenged because the specter of Chuck is always going to be hanging over it, whether or not he’s even involved in it or not. Because Blair is always going to be aware that Dan knows how much she loved a man before him. And Dan is always going to be aware, even more so, of how tied up they were with each other and how they constantly return to each other at some point, invariably every year. That pressure might seep in and cause some trouble but whether that trouble is insurmountable people will have to wait and see.

“Last spring was the tease,” he admitted. “We knew Dan and Blair were going to get together at some point this season, as Dan’s feelings for her would only grow, and Blair would grow more aware of them.”

“Blair gave up her control, her power in becoming a princess. Now that dream is over, for better or worse, and she’s finally breaking free and finding out who she is. And from the beginning, Dan was the one basically saying ‘I’ll be here always, I accept whoever you are.’”

TVLINE | Is it fair to say the season finale will revolve around Blair making a choice between Dan and Chuck.
It doesn’t revolve around that. That triangle definitely comes to the end point. But the episode revolves around Serena quite heavily. It’s a very huge turning point for Serena — probably the biggest one she’s had since Season 1.

Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) lands the audition of a lifetime, but Gossip Girl may have other plans for the Upper East Side’s latest It Girl. Meanwhile, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) and Rufus (Matthew Settle) disagree over the best way to handle the Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) situation, and Serena (Blake Lively) and Diana (Hurley) face-off over secrets they both would prefer remain secrets. Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick also guest star. Norman Buckley directed the episode written by Natalie Krinsky (#520).

Meanwhile, Chuck (Ed Westwick) reaches out to Blair (Leighton Meester) for advice about his past, and Diana Payne’s (Hurley) return to The Spectator starts a power struggle with Nate (Chace Crawford). Penn Badgley, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. Omar Madha directed the episode written by co-executive producer Amanda Lasher (#519).

Today The CW has released a new app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The Network has released a number of CW apps in the past but today they finally managed to get it right today. The app is free across all platforms and the best part is you can finally watch full episodes the next day, on the app as well as the website (full episodes will be available the next day starting at 6 a.m. ET). Previously the CW would make you wait 3 days or more before you could watch a new episode. Starting with tonight’s episodes of The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle you will be able to watch the full episode the next day. So when Gossip Girl returns and you miss it on Monday nights you will be able to watch the episode the following day instead of later in the week. The app also features photos and has integrated Facebook and Twitter for more exclusive content. So download the app and try it out and let us know what you think of it, like and dislikes. The CW has finally caught up with its younger viewers and understand they would rather watch episodes on their iPads and iPhones instead of their TV.

DESMOND HARRINGTON RETURNS AS JACK BASS / BILLY BALDWIN GUEST STARS — Chuck (Ed Westwick) invites Jack (Harrington) to town to thank him for saving his life, but finds the trip doesn’t go exactly as planned. Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgley) attempt to consummate their new relationship — but unexpected roadblocks get in their way. Meanwhile, Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) finds an unlikely ally in William (Baldwin) in her quest to be accepted on the Upper East Side, and Nate (Chace Crawford) is hopeful a new investor will save his newspaper. Blake Lively, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. Joe Lazarov directed the episode written by Annemarie Navar-Gill (#518).

This week on TGAD we discuss Gossip Girl 5.17 – The Princess Dowry. Highlights include: Fans going crazy on Norman Buckley, what will Ivy Dickens do now, and will Louis ever return. And then there is the issue of Dair for us to discuss. Sorry last week’s episode is so late. I wasn’t feeling very well and this episode needed a lot of editing due to some background and skype issues. Remember Gossip Girl is going on hiatus until April 2, 2012…and so is TGAD.

Spotted: Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf sharing screen time outside of a limo. Is Queen B finished slumming it on the “Inside” with Lonely Boy. This picture is from episode 5×22, do Chair fans finally have something to look forward to or are Chuck and Blair teaming up for a classic scheme. Blair is starting to look like her old self again and dressing like her old self too. Lonely Boy was spotted lurking in the background, is he spying on Blair a la Nate in Season 2??? If so whatever Queen B and Lonely Boy have going on could come to an end especially with the bad sex debuting in the April 2^nd episode. And we all know how much Blair Waldorf loves her sex games and cannot hold out for very long.
