While I’m stuck in Tokyo for the night on my way to Taiwan and Hong-Kong, I wanted to let you know I’ll be probably updating tais-toi, sois beau less often than usual as I may have limited access to Internet for the next 14 days. These two weeks of vacation will allow me to discover and explore the zillions of styles found in Asia. Already today in my flight, I’ve seen some cutting-edge Japanese style with a girl highly inspired by the mangas – I wished I had my camera with me…

22-year old former trained ballet dancer now model, great grand-daughter of the legendary Ernest Hemingway is all but a diva. Here is a sneak preview from the next V Magazine issue #62, in which the American model Dree Hemingway is photographed by Sebastian Faena, styled by Clare Richardson. In the pictures she was shot immediately after the New York collections in September wearing the latest from the Spring collections.
Dree Hemingway has been doing pretty well this year and has created some hype with her appearance on the Givenchy runway in Paris, in the Gucci campaign and in many Fashion editorials for Elle and Vogue. I am happy for Dree’s success in this industry, as she is proud of her Midwest roots and stays modest about her ascent, Dree has an extreme beauty and intriguing pedigree – the one that inspires dreamers.

Fashion has already been closely in relation with music. Clearly, who has not been influenced by our favorite artists and bands? All the musical cultures have created street styles that today influence designers and retailers, and vice-versa.

While I was preparing for my long getaway packing and making a music playlist on my iPod – I was listening to Cassette Kids, a Sydney-based rock group that I’ve discovered a few month ago. While I’ve been neglecting to watch their music videos until now, I was surprised to catch the beautiful singer Katrina Noorbergen wearing the famous Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony buckle boots. And the see-through dress over a black body suit – so sexy!

This is the first single from the Cassette Kids forthcoming debut album “Nothing On TV”, directed by renowned fashion photographer Pierre Toussant. The single will be released on the 30th of October and the album is expected in early 2010. For more information head to their website or MySpace page.

My posts about Alexander Wang always tend to subjectivity due to all my admiration for this genius designer. No wonder he generates such adulation every time he launches a new line. And don’t get me wrong this new footwear collection is another footstep in Wang-worshipping. On November 1st, the new 2010 resort shoe line will be available at his website. Despite a design close to the famous creepers, the new line cut out the buckles and studs that we see on everyone’s shoes today. The new collection is a bit more conservative and experiments materials never seen before by Wang, just in line with his Spring 2010 collection. I love the Saharian shoe with a wooden heel.

I love Charlotte Gainsbourg as I love his father, her notable career as a singer and actress on independent and under-the-radar movies like “Jane Eyre”, “21 Grams”, “The Science of Sleep” and “I’m Not There” (2007).

Charlotte Gainsbourg isn’t the typical French beauty like Brigitte Bardot. I enjoy her fragile and reserved attitude, with her slightly gawky, scrawny frame, she will never be thought of in that light. With her recently Cannes’ Best Actress award won, she is flirting with the mainstream and got enrolled in Lars von Trier’s controversial “Antichrist”. Co-starring Willem Dafoe, the film involves a tragedy that leads to violence. The film has divided moviegoers, who tend to be either intrigued or repelled by its extreme outrageousness – including graphic depictions of torture and self-mutilation.

In the upcoming V magazine #62, Charlotte Gainsbourg is featured in a short-story promoting the movie, describing her career and how she survived a near-death experience and spending several months of recovery following a waterskiing accident and subsequent brain surgery.

In the world of Fashion, Charlotte is also the namesake of the coveted Hermes handbag, and the muse of the upcoming Balenciaga fragrance campaign. Her second album “IRM” co-written and produced by Beck will coming out January 2010.

I’m still debating if I would watch the movie and will be able to go beyond the shocking stuff. Would need people to encourage me watching it.

A week before Halloween, I wanted to share with you this freaky and original editorial photographed by Tim Walker. Harper’s Bazaar in it’s October edition was inspired by Tim Burton’s career and highlighted some of director’s famous/darkest movies into fashion. The photoshoot is also in anticipation of Tim Burton’s career retrospective at the MOMA in NYC from November 22, 2009–April 26, 2010.

Natasha Poly is probably one of the best model of year and it’s truly amazing to see Natasha showing her versatility and talent through this diverse and carefully thought issue of Muse Magazine. “Obsessed” is a groundbreaking issue with great editorials by Sølve Sundsbø, Riccardo Tisci and Yelena Yemchuk among others. Sølve Sundsbø shows the Russian model in a Japanese Punk-Geisha wearing black leather studded jackets, letter pants and sharpened nails. While for Yelena Yemchuck, Natasha plays a glamorous woman and goes demonic for Panos Yiapanis and Riccardo Tisci behind the lens. A very artful issue as never seen before.

You must have recently hear that the beautiful model Filippa Hamilton been fired by Ralph Lauren for being too fat and the outrageous ad that leaked in Japan’s RL stores. Anyway, in the industry it’s easy to fire someone for being just an extra inch too big but you know I am not going to blame RL…Filippa must have been too good for their boring ads and now she deserves some damn sexy good campaigns. Long live to her.
