This is the winemaker’s art. It is the choices he makes that determines what is often referred to as the House style. The style of Charles de Fère is to voluntarily refuse territorial limits, building close partnership relations with growers so that we can select cuvées from northerly vineyards for their freshness and elegance, together with cuvées from southern vineyards for ripe fruit, body and smoothness. This bold approach adds finesse, structure, and a complex harmony of flavors that makes Charles de Fère what it is today.
Thank You For Subscribing To Our Feed!

In the world of fine wines, a unique combination of quality, reliability and value since 1977, this label belongs to Neil & Maria Empson, who launched the Super Tuscan five years after founding the Neil Empson Selections. It was their special affinity to the heartland of Italy that led them to make their very own mark on Tuscan soil: with the Maestro of Italian winemakers, Franco Bernabei. They have styled the Tuscan grape per eccellenza and expressed its ultimate potential, complimenting it with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best selections are cherry picked according to harvest conditions in the individual terroirs and microclimates. The blend for Monte Antico is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The best selections are blended and aged 1 year in oak (80% in Slovenian barrels, 20% in barrique) with at least 6 months bottle age. This wine is consistently one of Italy’s better values.
Thank You For Subscribing To Our Feed!

Subtle and silky, yet bright and intense, this deep red wine is multifaceted. Black raspberry and dark cherry greet the nose, while the brighter fruit of ripe summer plum dazzles the palate. The toast and spice of twelve months in American oak seamlessly integrate with the tannin structure of this wine, leaving a long, lingering finish, which is ready to drink now through 2014.
Thank You For Subscribing To Our Feed!

The Dry Creek Valley has unique characteristics that make it especially well-suited for cultivation of this hearty, decidedly American grape. The valley receives pronounced afternoon heat, but our vines are also cooled by the night air that creeps up the Russian River Valley from the waters of the Pacific Ocean, producing evening and early morning fog. Our vineyard enjoys the luxury of extended “hang time,” which produces more mature fruit, and results in rich, full-bodied flavor characteristics. The Federalist Zinfandel has robust fruit with bright berry fruit character, and its lively acidity allows it to partner well with a wide variety of foods.

Thank You For Subscribing To Our Feed!

Around the World in Six Bottles!
Join us Thursday, August 11, 2011, 5pm-8pm as we sample five wines from around the globe! As always all wines featured during the tasting are a dollar off! Cheers!
The Wines:
Colombelle
2009 Colombelle Blanc
France
Colombelle is a blend of two indigenous grapes from Gascony in southwest France: Colombard (70%) and Ugni Blanc (30%). It is crisp and fresh displaying floral and fruity notes and a round yet dry palate loaded with grapefruit, mango and white peaches.
Marques de Caceres Deusa Nai
2010 Albariño
Spain
Albariño is a grape indigenous to the border region that separates Spain from Portugal. Deusa Nai’s aromas exhibit intense, fresh and fragrant notes of citrus, grapefruit and mandarins. The flavors are full of zesty citrus fruit that exhibits a nice cleansing acidity while giving the wine great freshness and a long, elegant finish.
New Harbor
2010 Sauvignon Blanc
New Zealand
Marlborough, on the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, is the country’s premier appellation for Sauvignon Blanc and the most renowned winemaking region in New Zealand. This “sauvie,” as the locals call it, features an enticing bouquet of citrus, passion-fruit, and guava. Its crisp finish is characteristic of the Marlborough, region, and makes this wine a perfect pairing for summer salads, roasted chicken, pan-fried prawns and seafood dishes.
Greystone Cellars
2010 Chardonnay
California
As the Private Label of the Culinary Institute of America, Greystone Cellar’s wines have been served exclusively at the dining facilities at all three of the Culinary Institute of America locations for over a decade and are now available at select wine shops. The Chardonnay features peach and pineapple aromas with tastes of vanilla cream, citrus and green apple.
Penfolds Koonunga Hill
2008 Shiraz Cabernet
Austrailia
First produced in 1976, Koonunga Hill is named after the Penfolds renowned Koonunga Hill vineyard in the Barossa Valley and is very much a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. The wine is known for its full-flavored style with excellent Shiraz and Cabernet fruit, firm yet well-rounded structure and balanced oak.
The Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet has been voted Great Value Red Wine of the Year and was listed by Decanter Magazine as one of the Top 50 New World Wines.
Casorzo Fracchia
2010 Voulet
Italy
This delicious frizzante wine is a rare version of red Malvasia, with a pleasant touch of sweetness and just slightly sparkling. A perfect wine to sip or serve with desserts. Serve it chilled, and definitely try it with chocolate!
