Can’t find the perfect survival food supplies? Why go to the trouble of canning, preserving, drying and rotating when you can purchase 25-year shelf life survival food which can be shipped to your home or business? Here at SurvivalGearFirst.com, we have the best long term food storage pre-packaged goods from Wise, a leading supplier of simple, easy to use containers packed with nitrogen-infused mylar pouches organized into 4 adult servings. Thirty days worth of survival food supplies can be sealed, stored, and carried efficiently using their stackable, resealable plastic containers which can also be used for other survival purposes such as digging or waste disposal.

There are some things you should do when an event occurs even if you have prepared survival essentials in advance. Remember that each situation is different and these steps do not have to be taken in the order listed. Safety is always the first priority.

If you are at home when an emergency occurs immediately check to see if the water is still on. If it is still on then fill every possible container you have that will hold water. Pots, pans, plastic containers, and every sink and bathtub should be filled. If the water is off, there is still some water inside the water pipes in your home that can be obtained. This water can be drained from the pipes by opening the LOWEST cold water faucet in your home, which will usually be on the first floor, or the basement, or an outside water faucet. However, you will also need to open the highest cold water faucet in your home to allow air to enter the water pipes so the water can flow out the lowest water faucet into your collection container. This will drain all the water out of your pipes using gravity.

Check your home for damage and determine if evacuation is necessary. Check for gas leaks with a flashlight and if you smell gas turn the gas main off. Check electrical wiring and if necessary turn off the main breaker.

Check your food supply to see what you have available in the way of non perishables. Hopefully you have a cache of survival food already prepared. Save these for last and only consume what is in your refrigerator for now (even if the power is still on) as these foods will spoil first. Gather all coolers that you may have to get ready to empty the fridge.

Try to determine the extent of the disaster to gage the areas affected and the duration. Battery operated radio or TV should be used sparingly if disaster looks widespread or extremely severe. This will help you to determine whether to stay where you are or bug out to a safer location.

Gather clothing, medicines, personal hygiene products, first aid kit and other needed items together in case you need to leave or the situation becomes worse forcing evacuation. Get you Bug Out Bag (BOB) ready or start putting one together with whatever items you can gather from tackle boxes, tool storage, camping supplies and other resources.

If you have pets do not forget their food and medications.

These are the first steps I would take once I had checked for injuries of family and pets. Situations always seem to escalate over time so it is best to be prepared as soon as possible to take action to ensure your safety. These steps would also allow you to determine the extent of your resources and how long they will last.

With all of the severe weather events seemingly on the increase I have been stocking some canned goods for an emergency. Last year when the wind storm from the hurricane came through my house was without power for two weeks. After this I began looking for ways to better prepare for my family and found a lot of good advice and products. You may find more information on my web page Family Survival Essentials or read one of my other articles on this subject Have you thought about preparing your Family Survival Essentials.

How reliant are you on the products and services of others? We rely so heavily on the system that if the system went away many would be lost and desperate. We all use electricity and buy our food from the supermarket but if there was a major power outage and the supermarkets closed would you be prepared with a cache of survival items? Have you been watching the economy and our government lately? Look at what is going on in other countries; we are not that far away from similar events.

Supply lines for food distribution in this country are about three days, meaning a dependence on “just in time” distribution systems, which will leave store shelves empty in the event of even the smallest crisis. If you don’t have the ability to grow your own food long term, your life could be in danger. Start by planting a garden to grow your own food it can be fun and rewarding as well. Learn about home canning to increase your survival food storage bank. For a small investment you will end up saving over time as the jars are reusable and this will get you started in getting off of the food grid. Find seeds that are authentic strains which are NOT genetically modified in any way. When the going gets really tough you will only want this special type of seed which will produce not only outstanding nutritional plants but will allow you to plant the seeds from the plants you grow unlike sterile hybrids that will not reproduce. Start your survival seed bank now!

Electricity is a little harder problem to overcome the avenue that I have chosen to overcome this problem is solar panels. They are expensive so I add one at a time to the roof when I can afford a new one and hope to eventually get enough to stop my meter or run it backwards. If you Google solar panels you will find a wealth of information about how they work. I chose this method over generators as I will eventually run out of fuel, they are noisy and you have to run them outside alerting your neighbors or other prying ears you do not want. Wind energy is not an option for me in my suburban setting however you may want to look into that as well. The first unit I recommend is a portable unit that does not hook into your home. It has its own battery pack in a self contained unit with one or two panels outside that you can position. This way I can power the basement refrigerator getting it of the grid and keep the unit charged while it pays for itself.

By using these tips you gain some independence from these systems, and start saving money on electric and grocery bills. In this economy it will only benefit you and if there is a disaster or heaven forbid the economy collapses you will be better prepared with these family survival essentials. You can find more information about these survival products by going to my web page (link in author resource box).

Why mess with preserving, drying, canning and rotating when you can obtain 25-year shelf-life survival food for delivery to your place of work or residence? Here at SurvivalGearFirst.com, we carry the best long-term food storage pre-packaged goods from Wise, a leading supplier of simple, easy to use buckets filled with nitrogen-infused mylar sacks organized into family sized servings.

There are many possible threats to your family from natural disasters (Tornado, wind, ice snow, hurricane, flood etc…) to man made (Chemical spill, pandemics, terrorism etc…) and even economic disaster is not out of the realm of possibility. There are ways you can start to prepare now to protect your family by gathering survival supplies, survival foods and other survival items.

Survival supplies should be gathered to sustain your family for 72 hours minimum. You need to carefully consider the threats for your area and stock up accordingly. There are many items such as personal hygiene, medications, water and food that should be included. Here are two important tips I learned the hard way when our power went out I did not think to store feminine hygiene products and that made the wife upset which added to my attitude and I also forgot about the pet food and we ran out. Guess what happens when the power goes out? The stores all close so you cannot just run out and buy some. These are two very important survival items that should be on your list. Think about what you use every day and begin to gather these supplies. Take a couple of items out of a new box or package and put them with your survival supply kit. This allows you to slowly start building your kit without buying a bunch of additional survival items all at once.

Be mindful of the survival foods that you are gathering to make sure that they are stored properly. Canned goods have a shelf life of one year so you should work out a rotation plan or check them every six months and donate what you need to replace for a tax credit. Other foods have a variety of shelf life’s so be sure to set up a system to rotate. When I buy a new can of coffee it goes to the basement and the one there comes upstairs ensuring that I always have a good can available if needed. This can be done with other foods as well. Make sure that your survival food storage is out of the sunlight and in properly sealed containers. You do not want to get that bag of flour only to find that bugs have gotten into it. By taking these steps I have been able to build up on my survival products over time and ensure that they are fresh and useable when they are needed.

There is a lot of information available from multiple sources on the web. I hope that this article has at least started you to think about these survival preparations if you have not already begun. I cannot list all of the tips and survival essentials that I use in this article however I have created a web page with much more information about gathering survival supplies, survival foods and other survival items.

With all of the severe weather events seemingly on the increase I have been stocking some canned goods for an emergency. Last year when the wind storm from the hurricane came through my house was without power for two weeks. After this I began looking for ways to better prepare for my family and found a lot of good advice and products. You may find more information on my web page Family Survival Essentials or read one of my other articles on this subject Survival Essentials to Help Get Off the Grid.

As you evaluate the various alternatives when shopping for survival food supplies, think about both the shelf life and space needed to keep the provisions available for when they may be needed. Survival food bags from Wise sport a twenty-five year shelf life when stored under the proper conditions. You and your family can choose either a three month, six month, or twelve month supply of food with either 2 or 3 servings per twenty-four hour period. These bundles are ideal for practical food storage for yourself. Some of the tasty meals include: blueberry pancakes, honey glazed granola, stroganoff, creamy chicken pasta, chicken teriyaki, cheesy lasagna, chicken ala king, cheesy macaroni, creamy potato soup, brown sugar oatmeal and others. Below are links to the best-selling packages:

Shopping for the quickest survival food supplies? Why go to the trouble of canning, preserving, drying and rotating when you can buy twenty-five-year shelf life survival food which can be shipped to your home or business? At SurvivalGearFirst.com, we carry the best long-term food storage pre-packaged goods from Wise, a recognized supplier of quick and convenient buckets filled with nitrogen-infused mylar sacks organized into family sized servings.

Disruptions in the food supply can be caused by a number of factors:

Unemployment
Economic downturn
Erratic weatherNatural disasters
Contamination of food supplies
Quarantines
Disruptions in transportation
Social unrest
Acts of terrorism

Preparing for a disaster will reduce fear, anxiety, and losses. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantities to last for an extended period of time. If you don’t prepare beforehand, you may be dependent solely on relief organizations and the government. In a major emergency, it may be as long as 9 days before emergency services can reach you. A recent example is New Orleans residents after Hurricane Katrina.

Start with a minimum of three days of emergency food and water. Add to your inventory as your budget and space to store items permits.

Food Storage Guidelines

Use storage areas that are well ventilated, clean, dark, dry, and cool. Quality of food may also be expected to deteriorate slowly with storage because of time and temperature. A good temperature for storage of canned food is 50° F., which is almost refrigerator cool. An increase of 20° F. approximately doubles the rate of deterioration; thus, food stored at 70° F. will deteriorate twice as fast as food stored in 50° F. Since 50° might be difficult to maintain, you can store foods over a long period at 70°. Storage at 90° F. is highly undesirable, as it promotes rapid deterioration.
If your storage conditions are less satisfactory, rotate contents more frequently than recommended. Even though space may be limited, there are usually “hidden areas” for storage. Use your imagination!
Do not place food storage containers on or against cement or dirt floors and walls. Place pieces of wood between the storage containers and the floor or wall to provide ventilation and protect against moisture.
Keep stored food away from products that may affect the flavor of the food.
Rotate and use food storage items regularly. Date food items as you purchase or can them. Then, store new supplies of food at the back of the shelves, moving earlier purchases forward to be used first.

Water

Water is more essential than food in sustaining life. Store a minimum of seven gallons of water per person for drinking and food preparation. Store an additional seven gallons per person of the same quality water for bathing, brushing teeth, and dishwashing. Use heavy plastic containers with tight-fitting lids. Metal containers, which may corrode, tend to give water an unpleasant taste.

If you have any doubt as to the bacterial safety of stored water, you may purify it by boiling vigorously for one to two minutes or by adding chlorine bleach (5 percent sodium hypochlorite solution). Generally, half a teaspoon of bleach will purify five gallons of clear water, and one teaspoon will purify five gallons of cloudy water. If you store it away from sunlight in clean containers, and if it is safe bacterially at the time of storage, water will remain pure indefinitely.

Mistakes to Avoid

Variety – a lot of people only store the four basic items, wheat, milk, honey, and salt. Besides not being a complete diet, you can get “appetite fatigue” for lack of variety.
Extended Staples – don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Store dehydrated and freeze-dried foods as well as home-canned and store-bought canned goods.
Vitamins – must be stored along with your food in order to get proper nutrition.
Quick-and-Easy and Psychological Foods – quick-and-easy foods can help you through the times when you may be under too much stress to cope with preparing food. No-cook foods such as freeze-dried foods are wonderful since they require almost no preparation.
Balance – keep balance in mind as you build your food storage. Buy a variety of things rather than a large quantity of one.
Containers – always store your bulk foods in food-grade storage containers. You can also buy foods that are packed in nitrogen in #10 cans. Nitrogen will give the food a very long shelf like.
Use Your Storage – you must use your food storage in order to know what to do with it. Replace depleted items as necessary, thereby continually rotating your supply.

No single food storage plan will work for everyone. Each family’s needs differ. The most important thing is to start storing just a few items today and add a little more each month.

I specialize in survival supplies/gear for you and your family whether at home, in the car, at school or at the office. The immediate things you’ll need for a disaster (fire, flood earthquake, tornadoes or hurricanes) include food, water, shelter, and first aid supplies. I encourage you to prepare today for every tomorrow.

Control panic attacks and Prepare

Easily Control Your Panic Attacks

Just about everybody has had some type of stress and anxiety. Although there is some people that will have stress and anxiety so much that they are not able to do anything at all. People who have panic attack on a regular basis can experience some symptoms such as trembling, dizziness, problems breathing, and pains in their stomach. Many people visit the emergency room because they feel as though they are having a heart attack. Indeed these are very scary symptoms but they however are not life threatening at all.

To help yourself in gaining control over your panic attacks you need to first recognize what the triggers are of the panic attacks. If you are able to do this it will give you some time to be able to deal with it coming on.

There are some relaxation methods that may help with staying focused and calm. Yoga, meditation, and some breathing techniques can help. When a panic attack starts you can react out of proportion and also out of reality. If breathing methods are practised you could remain calm and in focus, helping you stop a panic attack before it starts.

All intake of caffeine needs to be avoided this includes soda, tea, coffee, and diet pills. Panic attacks can be triggered from within the central nervous system and that could be stimulated from the use of caffeine.

Exercise needs to be a ritual. Exercise will release endorphins into your blood stream. Endorphins are hormones that help with a natural euphoric feeling, it may also be referred to as a “runners high.” Regular exercise can help you remain focused and relaxed.

Hopefully with using these methods of ways to control your panic attacks you will be able to gain some sort of control over them.

The economic crisis that the human world faced in the recent times is no longer news. After the events like the Second World War and the Great Depression, the commercial world had to face a large-scale economic slowdown. Not a single country was spared and the impact is such that even powerful countries like the US and Europe are finding it hard to find answers to the recent economic dilemmas and blockheads. One factor that has very badly hit every country and most importantly, the common man, is inflation. The present economic calamity can be very well characterized by factors like inflation and regression. Along with the rapidly rising prices, the concerns and worries of the common man is also rising. The countries are trying their best to protect their citizens from the brunt of inflation but they have not been entirely successful. Inflation has affected the life and the standard of living of the common man as the prices of essential commodities have risen considerably.

When there is a rise in the luxury, specific or seasonal commodities it is not a matter of concern for the lower strata of the society. The middle class and the lower middle class can also be included in this sector though the middle class do not exactly fall in the lower strata. However, the rise in the prices of the above mentioned commodities affect only a particular section of the society and this section is always the minority. The inflation that has taken the world in its sweep in the recent times has not spared any commodity. Even the things that are acutely essential for survival have also witnessed a steep price hike. Inflation generally occurs when the demand for a particular thing exceeds its supply. Currently, inflation is affecting the food industry also. Many countries are facing the prospect of food product scarcity. They are fearful that the stocks that are stored with them will fall short of the demand. Therefore, they are trying hard to secure future demands by making collaborations and taking loans.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has received a number of appeals for loans from many countries, especially the developing and the underdeveloped nations so that they can meet the demands of their citizens. Food is the primary commodity for which the countries have approached IMF for loans. Though the (IMF) has sanctioned most of the loans, it does follow certain mandatory conditions before approving any loan. It has its volunteers that make visits to the particular country that has appealed for loan to determine whether it is facing financial problems in reality and only after proper verification; IMF decides to help the country with a loan. Countries are also opting for business collaborations to secure themselves against the onslaught of low supply and rising prices.

Buying and selling is today very often done on the net, thanks to the phenomenon called ecommerce. Though loans are not something that is done in ecommerce, collaborations do exist. Due to the increasing demand of perfection and professionalism as well as for the shortage of time, online traders are relying on ecommerce solution to facilitate their online business. They are approaching outsourcing software development companies that are equipped with state-of-the-art custom software development solutions and several other business solutions. IT companies are the strengths of the countries like India that are reaping huge profits after scaling the ladder of success in ecommerce and IT.

Another thing beside the emergency kits that you need to carry with you while you go for hunting, you will also need to carry some amount of food which he might need them if he get lost in the forest or in the woods.

At one time I carried a homemade emergency ration, made of ground parched corn, whole-milk powder and grated chocolate. A half cup of this, with a handful of raisins and plenty of water, would see me through from one mealtime to the next. I could carry several days’ supply in a small waterproof sack and, while I never had any real need for this ration, it was a comforting thing to have. I have never tried any of the rations used by the armed forces but there is a possibility that some of them might fit into the picture as a hunter’s ration, if they are not too heavy. The hunter’s gun becomes quite a burden as night nears, so weight should be considered when planning the kind and amount of food to be carried on a hunt. Survival instructions issued to fliers by the Government could be of great benefit to a lost hunter. While these instructions are based on the possession of a survival kit, many of the suggestions may be adapted to the equipment which the hunter might have with him. Knowledge of this sort, even if never used, can do no harm to anyone who has any occasion to enter the woods.

One of the best and most useful things which a hunter can have is a large supply of ingenuity. The ability to improvise, the “know how” to “make do” is often invaluable in the case that any emergency should occur. Many people do not have any idea of what to do in case of an injury to a companion. Others might spend a night with a bare log for a wind break when a few poles, in the right position, covered with brush, would enlarge the shelter and provide a partial roof to add to their comfort. Others might find a pool full of trout in water so deep that the concussion from a rifle bullet would not kill them, and they would go hungry, not knowing that a sharpened stick, with the point hardened in the fire, could be used as a spear to kill and retrieve a fish for dinner. This ability to improvise often means the difference between downright misery and comparative comfort.

Prevention is the best cure for many things and getting lost is one of them, so before starting on a hunt, study a map of the area to be hunted. Note the direction which you take when leaving camp to hunt. Note the direction of any roads and streams near the camp. Be sure to carry an ample supply of matches with a reserve in a waterproof container. Matches embedded, or dipped, in paraffin wax are good and almost anyone can prepare them. The wax is an aid in starting a fire. Carry a good hunting knife. Have one with a heavy blade that will stand hard usage.

Be sure that you know your gun. Sight it in before the hunt and find out where the bullets will hit at different ranges. Take along something to eat for an emergency, even if it is no more than a sandwich. Carry a compass and trust it without reservation. If you do become confused in the woods, consider it in this manner: You are not lost, but others do not know where you are. The camp is lost but you can make another camp where you are. You do not need human companionship. You can take care of yourself without modern conveniences. Don’t worry about your situation. Let others do the worrying.

If you can do these things and if you have an elementary knowledge of woodcraft, you can do them. You may live to look back on what might have been a terrifying experience as an amusing and not too unpleasant incident.

One of the best and most useful things which a hunter can have is a large supply of ingenuity. The ability to improvise, the “know how” to “make do” is often invaluable in the case that any emergency should occur.

Buying the perfect survival food supplies?

From time to time we hear of catastrophic events and disasters in far away places, but the news gets more and more unsettling the closer these tragedies get in proximity to where we live, as well as their increasing frequency. We operate on a daily basis mostly without worry of any major changes in our living quarters or environment. It would in fact be counterproductive to become unnecessarily preoccupied with a pessimistic view of the future possibilities of disaster. By the same token, it is a big risk not making any advance preparation.

In this modern era our survival is weighted most heavily toward how we fare in the workplace and our propensity to bring home an adequate paycheck. We rely on society’s highly interdependent, evolved system of specialization. Drawing upon each of the various components as needed brings us enhanced utility with added convenience to boot.

As opposed to earlier civilizations, we exchange for and gather from an ever-increasing base of available goods and services that have the deceptive appearance of being infinite in supply. The modern term for participation and pursuit of the self-production and construction of necessities for life (food, clothing, and shelter) is “hobby.”

When disaster strikes, you have nobody to rely on but yourself, and your survival is no longer considered to be a “hobby.” Your forethought, preparation, and careful planning will dramatically increase your chances for survival. You will be thankful for your own advance consideration of a variety of possible future disasters. This may even include things such as unemployment or underemployment.

It’s just too late to collect food and other emergency essentials (or learn survival techniques) when the earth’s elements are in commotion and store shelves quickly empty in panic reaction. Add emergency food storage to your list of priorities, and be able to sleep during life’s storms.

In the case of most emergencies it is an individual’s preparation as well as ability to react and adapt to a situation that will determine whether they can survive. For many people the idea of preparation might include flashlights, extra batteries, a shortwave radio and maybe some extra cans of food but in the event of a real emergency, one that could affect the world food supply, then these simple steps just aren’t enough to protect your family.

We already have an idea about how people will react in the event of a real emergency as sever snowstorm warnings or potential hurricanes and tornadoes usually cause a mass rush to the local grocery store. Within hours of a forecasters warning the shelves are left empty as concerned people fight over the last loaf of bread or can of corn.

The reality is in the event of a real emergency, one much worse than just a passing cold front or tropical storm, those shelves can be left empty for an extended period of time and if you’re not prepared then the result can be catastrophic. To prepare for such a scenario you need to know you’ll have a food supply that will keep you and your family nourished and SurvivalSeedBank.com has the solution.

Offering a Survival Seed Kit packed with open pollinated, non-hybrid seeds, SurvivalSeedBank.com brings peace of mind to those who know that an emergency can come at any moment.

What the Survival Seed Kit guarantees is a lasting food supply specifically designed to produce nutritionally dense fruits and vegetables during a time of crisis. Because the seeds included in the Survival Seed Kit have not been genetically modified they are capable of growing foods that then produce seeds that can be replanted, thus an endless supply of nutrition.

While many people may scoff at the idea that our food supply could one day be so depleted that we would have to rely on our own hands to eat the reality is it could be closer to happening than anyone wants to admit. The world’s population continues to grow and this expansion comes at the cost of land being developed for habitation, meaning land that had been used to grow food will become land that buildings and homes sit atop. An increase in population and a cut to food production is an obvious sign that problems are on the horizon.

Couple the rise in population with the world’s push for alternative energy sources, specifically bio-fuels, and that food supply continues to diminish as things like corn and wheat are taken off the table and turned into fuels. Taking these things into account, it only makes sense, and really becomes your duty to ensure you are prepared for a food supply shortage.

Survival Seed Bank provides you with the peace of mind that in the event there is a food shortage you will have a sustainable and nutritional source of food. Each of the Survival Seed Bank varieties has been hand-picked for germination rate, nutritional density and storage life and because these seeds are true heirlooms they produce extremely nutritious plants.

In addition to the open pollinated seeds, the Survival Seed Kit includes detailed growing instructions for each variety with helpful information on harvesting of seed stock for the following year in a survival situation.
