The soft petal bases are edible and quite tasty. Cut off top 1/3 of artichoke. Snip remaining sharp or spiky tips using kitchen scissors. Cut stem so artichoke stands upright. How did the logs wind up in the river bottom? How long did these mahogany logs rest on the river's bottom being sunken and protected in mud? &nbsp;If only these planks could tell their full story.
