I had a bit of a surprise yesterday when I checked my mail. It seems that Google sent me some stuff.

It seems that being a member of Google Engage has its perks. Like a wireless mouse and a flash drive.

Not bad at all. I totally didn’t expect any of this stuff.

I suppose that means I should start working to finding new clients who want to start using Google for marketing.

One thing that I’ve learned in the past couple of years is that you should always be ready to take an opportunity when you see it.

A while back, I took the time to read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki.

One of the things that this book has taught me is that you should always be ready to seize an opportunity when you see it. Of course, that means you may have to get yourself into a position where you are capable of doing that. For me, that means working a couple jobs, and trying to have a little extra cash on hand.

For example, one of my co-workers recently got a new Kindle. She didn’t like it, so I jokingly said that I would give her $20. She said “done”. I was a bit surprised, but she was serious. So I handed her a $20 and she handed me a once-used, box kept Kindle.

Now, we all know I can resell this for a decent profit. Although I’m debating what I really want to do with it.

You have to be ready for opportunities, even if they are small.

I have always really like Zooey Deschanel from the first time I saw her in a movie so when I heard she was getting her own comedy show I was pretty pumped to watch it. As it turns out New Girl is quite a hit in my book. Her character, while I hate to admit it, is a bit predictable. She usually plays the quirky weird happy girl so her character in this show is no different. I think the thing that makes this show good is the other characters that play off of Zooey’s. You have Schmidt who is constantly trying to hook up with women or go on dates with women or at least get their clothes off. He is shirtless in at least one scene of every single episode that I have seen so far. This is funny because usually the shirtless scenes are not at all sexy or attractive. Usually the scenes will fall more in to the category of awkward and strange. If you live in Virginia check out direct tv Arlington to find out when you can watch New Girl.

The other day I decided to pull my credit report. I do this whenever I can remember to (which is usually about once per year). I was able to get my report from one agency, but for some reason the other two credit agencies could not verify my identity. I’m guessing it has something to do with the security questions about a home mortgage that I never took out.

One of these days, I will figure out who took that loan out, and I will be taking their house. I wonder if that is possible…

So anyway, it turns out that my TransUnion score is pretty decent. No, I’m not going to share it with you. The downside is that my Experian score is not nearly as nice because of something that happened a long time ago…a discrepancy with a bill from an apartment complex. Whatever. I do not really care, since when I was in the process of moving out their maintenance guy came in and stole some of my stuff. Justify that, jackwagon.

Yeah. Seriously. He stole the stuff. I guess that doesn’t matter anymore. What does matter, though, is that I need to start rebuilding my credit. On that note, it’s always good every year to check your free credit score.

Does anybody have any pro tips for that?

I moved into our new house months ago, but I still haven’t quite found the right place for everything. In my defense, I’ve been doing a lot of remodeling so it still feels like we haven’t quite moved in. I keep finding things that need to be remodeled in our house and adding them to the list.

I also recently decided that I needed to find some sort of storage solution for all of my makeup. I looked online to see what I could find for an idea for that. When I was looking, I saw info on Sears Home Improvement and after I looked through it some I decided to use them to finish out a lot of our remodeling, including some of our cabinets.

I think I’m also going to set up some kind of organization system in our cabinets for my cosmetics so I won’t be cluttering up all of our nice new big counters. I had a big problem with that at our old house.

I haven’t really tried to build a website in a very long time. After discovering WordPress, I really haven’t had a lot of reason to roll out those old-school HTML skills…aside from tweaking pages and whatnot.

I’m thinking that it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all to take a course (or at least read a webmaster tutorial or two). Of course, I’d likely be in over my head.

The truth is, I never really got into PHP or CSS or anything beyond HTML. I don’t really know why that is the case, but I think it’s partially because I’m lazy. I think I covered this a bit in my last post.

I think it would be beneficial to learn this stuff again. I mean, between this blog, by still-to-be-built band website, and other projects, it would definitely be good to know this stuff.
