There’s something about this kind of music, something that always reminds me about Christmas. Maybe because I love listening to old Christmas carols around Christmas? That too, but above all, Judy Garland’s Embraceable You is a love song! The kind I love to love and love to dedicate to my adored Husband!

Embraceable You was composed in 1928 by the amazing George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin and originally performed by Ginger Rogers in 1930 (of course, in a dance routine with Fred Astaire). The version included here belongs to Judy Garland from the film Girl Crazy (1943), film made after the eponymous Broadway musical where the Embraceable You was first heard (the original orchestration can be listened here)

Those were the days! Have you noticed that wonderful headband on Judy’s head? And her hair? And how charming she was? (somebody stop me, I could go on till Christmas!)

If you think fashion is something everyone (and their respective dogs) can handle, then get this: this 30 years print Prada recap (only) has 706 pages! It’s basically another way to establish fashion as a cultural institution falling only under the laws of luxury. Prada is not for everyone, and the $150 price tag is proof enough. I’d take a box of chocolates instead! What can I say, I’m a simple girl and I have simple needs. Chocolate is (soooo) good! Especially around Christmas! (via)

Though Lara looks stylish and less racy than her usual explicitness, I have to ask, is there a princess-cliché for the December cover chez Vogue UK? With multicolored hair, skin and tee matched with a pair of turquoise opaque leggings and Barbie pink stilettos, I can hardly imagine what else she could’ve been except the Halloween Technicolor nightmare of a blank canvas. Also, a match made in colors heaven right after the jump: Christian Siriano as the Little Mermaid! I know, Halloween is a closed book this year, but I didn’t wanted you to missed these colorful pages of inspiration, just in case!

No, that’s not another picture from the very appreciated Disney celebs-set! It’s our very fierce and ferosh Christian Siriano, designer extraordinaire dressed up as a glittery, redheaded Ariel. It’s hard to believe she found nothing else to match her pink prom-ish dress so I’m compelled to conclude it’s on purpose! She’s wearing slippers for regular outside shoes! A solo Robert Pattinson on the December 2009 cover of Vanity Fair but a couple-ish Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart break on the December 2009 cover of Harper’s Bazaar. It’s all happening this December 2009, on a magazines stand near you! (the story continues with more images right after the jump!)

I’m seriously waiting for his Twimoment to fade into something more substantial before I say that Robert Pattinson was made for one role and one role only. Even if everyone (and their respective dogs) was expecting a “Breaking Dawn” revelation about his rumored relationship with co-star Kristen Stewart, there’s nothing even remotely close to a confession. Instead you get (longer than my available patience) interviews and loads of photos signed by Bruce Weber (for Vanity Fair) and Mark Selinger (for Harper’s Bazaar).

I still hold a positive perspective over Twilight and everything around it. Well, almost everything. But not because it’s an overwhelmingly literary and cultural phenomenon but because it still delivers the true love message. And that’s always a good thing. Instead of seeing them ditching every single value we used to cherish to “outdated” and not hype anymore, it’s a good believe to install in our young generation’s hearts. That there’s still love, true love out there. Lasting and powerful.

If you’re wondering how come they cover Harper’s Bazaar posing like a couple (as well as the pictorial inside, stubbornly insinuating a relationship between the two co-stars), don’t think further than bank accounts: Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair respectively, for one and New Moon box office on the other hand. I like Kristen’s apparent lack of interest for her new found fame. She looks like a normal teen and that’s good. But I keep in mind the fact that everything-Hollywood is basically made of smoke and mirrors and these two covers are living, print proof!

Getting back to Robert Pattinson: despite of him being compared to the likes of James Dean more often than I care to remember, I want to see more of his so-called rebel acting genius before judging him on or off. For now the only pro I give him just because is having a British accent. And that’s all, folks! What do you make of Robert Pattinson, outside Edward Cullen?
