It’s been 6 days I haven’t had the chance to check internet in my laptop. Luckily today, I got chance to use it and I couldn’t think of a better way to express my feeling than to pour it in my blog.

First of all thanks to WorldLink Communication (self proclaimed no. 1 ISP in Nepal). It’s because of it I was not able to have any online presence for over 6 days. Of course I could and did too check my mails and Facebook on my mobile but using packet data connection via telco connection is too expensive in a country like Nepal where they charge sky high price for each MB of data I download or upload.

Scenario:

It started from 30 April: I saw a bunch of guys climbing over the poll tryina’ change the box (Wlink’s box). The net wasn’t working since then (in the morning it was working). When I asked them, they said it’d be completed in few hours and then internet will be up. Apparently it wasn’t fixed that day. I called the support asking the reason. They said they’re changing their boxes in the area to make the service better and that it would be fixed tomorrow.

1^st May: The internet is still not up. I didn’t call though because it was “May Day” and public holiday. I didn’t want to disturb them (At least I had the courtesy to think of the situation like that). I knew though that they claim to have 24-7 and 365 support system and I could have called and asked for support. I still didn’t want to disturb them on a holiday.

2^nd May: The internet is still not working and I know there is something wrong in the poll. The network cables were hanging outside the polls and one of them was probably mine. I called the support and they said they’ll open a support ticket and soon somebody will be there to solve it soon (so they hadn’t opened any ticked on 30 April). BTW nobody came by to fix it and the day passed.

3^rd May: I needed to check my emails desperately for downloading work and study related stuffs. Internet wasn’t working. I called them again; they said support will be there soon to fix it but in vain. I was busy with my exam preparation and that day passed by too.

4^th May: My exam was right the next day. Internet wasn’t working and I couldn’t still download slides. I went to a friend’s home in the morning, downloaded the sides, checked my emails, and apologized to my clients for the delay with their work. After returning home, I called WorldLink support again. They said they would forward the problem again to the branch and that support will be there asap. That never happened.

5^th May: After returning from exam, I tried to connect to internet but it was still not working. I called WorldLink’s New Plaza branch directly and they said they’ve noted my problem and that they will call me immediately with the support. Then they stopped taking my calls. WTF!!!

6^th May (Today): I called the Head Office, talked to the support angrily. I called the marketing team too demanding immediate support and asking him how I will get compensated for the days I haven’t use internet. They said I my internet will be extended by 5 days (days I hadn’t used internet). But I asked, “what about my opportunity cost. I lost my client’s loyalty during that period, a lot of my work pending … what about that?” The marketing guy abruptly cut my phone while I was still talking (so much for the customer support). A guy came and fixed my internet and right after my problem was fixed I got a text from Wlink saying my net will expire in 13 days. It wasn’t extended my 5 days at all. Funny right??? They didn’t have time to send me a text or even an email to let me know that my net was not working because of maintenance of whatever reason they were telling be but they could send me a text 13 days before it’s expire time hits.

So, my internet is working now. But should I be happy with it now? Coz I am not. Not yet. I will go to their office tomorrow probably and ask for answers because this isn’t the way they are supposed to treat us. We are their customers and we have paid for the service … that also in advance. If we don’t get the service that we deserve, we have the right to complain and they are liable for the hassles that we go thru and they need to compensate us. If this was a case in the US, probably we could sue them in court. Isn’t there any way to take legal actions against them here in Nepal? Or are we supposed just stay quiet and let them treat us like shit.

१६ बैशाख. स्कूलमा पढ्दा किताब भनेपछि एलर्जी मान्ने हरिवंश आचार्यले अहिले स्वयं किताब लेख्नुभएको छ । ‘चिना हराएको मान्छे’ शीर्षकमा आफ्नो जिन्दगीको भोगाई र कथाव्यथा उतारेका हरिवंशले किताबमा सुखदुःखका दुवै पाटोलाई सरल ढंगले उतार्नुभएको छ ।

आइतबार किताव सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित सबैले हरिवंशको हाँसो र रमाइलोभन्दा उहाँको जीवनका दुखद पाटालाई बढी सम्झे । ‘मेरो जीवन टेन्सनै टेन्सनमा बित्यो, म संसारकै सबैभन्दा अभागी र भाग्यमानी व्यक्ति पनि हो’ किताबको बारेमा बोल्दै हरिवंशले सम्झनुभयो-’सानो छँदा आमा गुमाउनुपर्यो, तर आमाको माया दिदीहरुबाट पाएँ । सानैमा बाबु गुमाएँ, तर छोराहरुले बाबुको जत्तिकै माया गर्छन् । मलाई सबैभन्दा बढी माया गर्ने, मैले सबैभन्दा बढी माया गर्ने पत्नी मीरा गुमाएँ, तर उनले जस्तै माया गर्ने रमिला भेट्टयाएँ ।’ हरिवंशले यसो भन्दा खचाखच भरिएको हल स्तब्ध भयो । मञ्चमा बसेकी रमिला पनि भावुक हुनुभयो । रमिलातिर हेर्दै हरिवंशले भन्नुभयो-’उनको अनुहारमा मीराको अनुहार देख्छु ।’

दुई वर्षअघि पत्नी मीराको निधनले मर्माहत भएका हरिवंशलाई त्यही क्षणमा पुस्तक लेख्ने मेसो मिलेको हो । शोक र पीडालाई अक्षरमा उतारेर उहाँले आत्मसन्तुष्टी लिने प्रयास गर्नुभयो । तर मीरा बिनाको जीवनले उहाँलाई डेढ वर्षसम्म उकुसमुकुस बनायो । अनि साथीभाइ र आफन्तले उहाँलाई मीराकै अर्को रुप रमिला भेट्टाइदिए ।’मीरा बितेको डेढ वर्षपछि रमिलासँग बिहे गरें । कतिले मेरो आलोचना पनि गरे । तर एक्लोपनाको पीडा कस्तो हुन्छ भोग्नेलाई मात्र थाहा हुन्छ’ हरिवंशले भन्नुभयो-’अल्कोहल नपिईकन निद्रा नलाग्ने अवस्थामा म पुगिसकेको थिएँ । त्यसैले मैले डिप्रेशन भएर मर्नुभन्दा दोस्रो बिहे रोजें ।’

मीरालाई अत्यन्तै माया गर्ने हरिवंशले उहाँलाई सधैं बचाईराख्ने वाचा गर्नुभएको छ । मीराकै नाममा बालबच्चाको हेरचाह गर्ने केन्द्र खोल्नुभएको छ । दोस्री पत्नी रमिला त्यो केन्द्रको अध्यक्ष हुनुहुन्छ । पुस्तक सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित मीराका भाइबुहारी र छोरातिर हेर्दै हरिवंशले भन्नुभयो-’म तिमीहरुलाई वचन दिन्छु, भौतिक शरीर नरहेपनि म तिमीहरुको दिदीलाई बचाइ राख्छु ।’ पुस्तकमा पनि हरिवंशले मीरालाई उसैगरी सम्झनुभएको छ । रमिला र मिराको प्रसँग कोट्याउनुभएको छ । ‘रमिलाले मलाई मीरा सम्झेर रुने स्वतन्त्रता दिएकी छिन् । मैले उनलाई विगत सम्झेर रुने स्वतन्त्रता दिएको छु । तर, उनी मलाई सम्झाउँदै भन्छिन् – म पहिले खुबै रोएँ । आँसु मात्र आयो, तर उनी फर्केर कहिल्यै आएनन् । जीवनको सबैभन्दा भयानक सत्य मृत्यु रहेछ । जसलाई स्वीकार्नै पर्छ  ।

त्रिपुरेश्वरमा झण्डै दुई माईक्रोमा अट्ने यात्रु साझा बस नै पर्खेर बसेका थिए । पहिलेदेखि नै यात्रुलाई मिलाएर राख्न व्यस्त परिचालिक रेनुका तामाङले सबैलाई राख्न सक्नुभएन । ‘ल अट्दैन है, अर्कोमा आउनुहोस्’ निकै विनम्र भएर उहाँले अनुरोध गर्नुभयो । ‘जति खचाखच भएपनि अरु सार्वजनिक यातायात चढेजस्तो कष्ट र दुव्र्यवहार सहनु पर्दैन’ यात्रु भन्दैथिए । बुढापाका र अशक्तलाई परिचालकले मात्र होइन, अरु यात्रुले पनि सम्मान गर्छन् । महिला र अशक्तको लागि छुट्याईको सिट खाली नै छ भने पनि अरु बस्दैनन् । बोलाईबोलाई ठाउँ छोडिदिन्छन् ।

भाडा उठाउँदा परिचालकले आमा, बा, सर, मेडम भनेर सम्बोधन गर्छन् । टिकट दिएर पैसा लिन्छन् । चालक र परिचालक ट्राफिक नियम पालना र यात्रुको सुविधाको लागि निकै सचेत छन् । बैशाख १ गतेदेखि राजधानीमा पुनः शुरु भएको साझा यातायातले आफ्नो यो सेवालाई यसैगरी निरन्तरता दिन सकोस् भन्ने यात्रुको शुभेच्छा छ ।

Anyways, we gonna start fresh now and that’s why I am trying to write again or type again. So, there was this post with the title “काठमाडौंमा एक रातको रु. 50 हजार” in my Facebook and I couldn’t help read it (catchy title yeah?). I don’t know if it was an old post (couldn’t find the date in the post) or something but the news was pretty old; the video on YouTube was of June 25, 2012.

This was probably another of the sting operations by ABC news channel (these days every news channel seem to be doing the STING) where they follow police or the police follow them (I’m confused) and they make a big news outta small thing (त्यो भन्छन् नि, तिलको पहाड़ बनाउनु ). So, this girl is studying in plus two and she is engaged in high profile prostitution or may be others are forcing her into it or I don’t know, and the news reporter is interrogating her like he is the police … and yes where is the police or the pimps of girls or those high profile people? Aren’t the reporter supposed to ask questions to them too? Or are the reporters scared or them? Or they just needed a scoop for their evening news.

Again I am nobody to judge the news. I just wanted to collect an opinion from people to judge if this was a right thing to do or wrong. They shot the video and ask those girls and showed it on national TV (people even published it on YouTube and it’s getting decent views) but to be fair (‘coz law and news is supposed to be fair to everyone despite the caste, gender, standard, etc.), shouldn’t they do the same to the people who are behind this… who are actually running this business of so called high-profile prostitution? I don’t have any answers. I only have my opinion. And I think this is cheap ass news by a cheap ass reporter from a cheap ass news channel (you might think the same about me too :P ). घण्टा  जस्तो न्युज (wooo I’ve loving writing in Nepali in my blog) What do you think???
