I’m always one to marvel at these sort of ads that make you think “is that for real or just a lot of CGI?” My hat goes off to the guys that produced this though, I love the concept (even if it does seem like an amateur film that Samsung have just stuck their logo on at the end to gain credit for).

Fallon Fall-on a winner

So far we have seen a gorilla playing the drums, some toy trucks ‘dancing’ to Queen and two children seemingly overdosed on sugar with hyper-active eyebrows. Don’t get me wrong, with the exception of the second advert (Trucks), I absolutely love Cadbury’s campaign; rarely are brands brave enough to hand the baton to an agency and say “run with it,” and for Cadbury it seems to be paying off. For me however, the honeymoon is over and I can’t wait to see the next insight into the weird world of the creative teams responsible for these ads (perhaps it will be a gorilla driving a truck whilst wiggling his eyebrows.. or not).

I’m not quite sure what’s in the water over at Fallon, but whatever it is, it seems to be doing wonders!

What a load of Twitt

Curseword.com seems to have lowered the social networking bar by releasing a realtime twitter feed of any post containing a swear word.

Talk about useless but I honestly can’t find any point other than to amuse the poor sod who must have been bored enough to create the site.

I wonder when the government will twig that they can create similar sites to spy on terrorist activity. We’ll have to wait and see for that one.

Has diddit.com done it again?

With so many different social networks now available, it comes as a breath of fresh air to finally find one which has a purpose as well as integrating a social aspect to it.

Diddit.com let’s users tick off any activities that they have done in their whole life, from skydiving to eating in burger king. Users can then share their experiences and also create a wish list of things they want to do in their life.

Whilst the activities listed are predominantly US based, users from around the world can tick off general activities like ‘paragliding,’ and it’s likely that more global content will come available as the site grows.

It seems like a great idea and a bit of a competition with others to see who has done the most in their lives. Nonetheless it could prove a good tool for reviews on all sorts of activities that let’s you connect and chat with people who have already ‘done it’.

Google turns stalker

Google have once again raised the digital technology bar with their new mobile app Google Latitude; allowing users to pinpoint their friend’s locations on a map, as well as seeing twitter-style status updates beneath each person.

Although location-based applications have been available for some time now, I can’t help but think that the use of the technology in this way could raise certain privacy issues.

I can certainly see the advantage of this technology from a business perspective; many company’s would pay huge sums of money to get hold of this sort of data to allow targeted, location-based advertising or whatever they so desire; but I still can’t help but think if it ever does get to that point, the general public are just going to hate advertisers even more.

I have nothing against Google, but it seems that Joe Public is completely oblivious to the power they’re giving the digital giant; surely it’s only a matter of time until someone leaves a laptop on a train and the personal information of millions of people gets sold on eBay?

or was it a chicken? I forget… but in this story the egg has most definitely been dropped. As I begin my voyage into the virtual abyss of social networking, I feel it would be appropriate to start on a positive summary of 2008 from a youtube perspective…
