Music has been a major part of my life; one that I’ve done for much longer than this website has existed and will continue long after it is finished. But unfortunately, at the moment it doesn’t pay the bills. So when myself, Chris and Stan all work full time jobs outside of SATL, it can be difficult to dedicate as much time
[more...]

It has been a while since we have heard from Our Lady Peace and I’m not sure if that is a good thing or not. But one thing I know for sure, the new music from Memphis May Fire and Portugal. The Man is definitely a good thing.

Its ridiculous to think, a woman who downloads music gets a huge fine, but someone who actually distributes copyrighted material gets next to nothing. The punishment needs to fit the crime and in the case of the Guns n’ Roses leaker, it doesn’t. At least not in comparison.

Pandora has struck a deal for “survivable royalty rates”. The negotiations between Pandora and record labels has been going on for a couple of years and has finally reached a resolution. Pandora will receive a 40-50% reduction in royalty rates, but they will also have to fork over 25% of their revenue.

“The Tropic Rot” is the latest album from melodic metal mavens Poison the Well. For those of you left cold by the Morricone antics (read western, twangy music), then fear not. The boys from Florida are back on top of their game or, at the very least, rebounding really well from the unfocused madness that was “Versions”.

I think enough time has passed since the death of Michael Jackson that we can pick up our ongoing series of playlists; a tribute to those artists lost too soon. Plus, if that poll was any indication, the majority of the population has moved on.

It is truly unfortunate what happens when someone famous passes away. The more famous, the worse it is. Michael Jackson is only the latest celebrity to have his personal problems aired publicly and his name destroyed posthumously; not that it was in the best shape to begin with.

Southern rock has me in it’s tight grip. It’s terrifying really. I know that I should be listening to music that’s pushing the boundaries a little bit more, but I could honestly care less. It’s good, straightforward rock and roll. So why did Maylene and the Sons of Disaster have to mess it up so bad?

The entire band except for lead singer Dallas Taylor and bass player Roman Haviland have said their goodbyes and it doesn’t take long to figure this out.
