We have expanded out network and associations to Istanbul.

Dormant relationships between Turkey and South Africa went to into fith gear with the recent visit of the Turkish Foreign minister Davut Oğlu to South Africa in August. This coupled with the sale of Turkish internet company Marca Foni to South African Media 24, the sale of South African home appliances Defy to Turkish Koç Group, has resulted more Turkish companies looking to do business and to invest in South Africa, especially after the Arab Spring.

Together with our partners in Istanbul we hope to facilitate more Turkish commercial productions  in South Africa.

The Pioneer of Paraguay:

Louis Nel has lived in Paraguay since April 1976. That’s his tenuous cachet, because he is otherwise a man of little interest and certainly scant importance. But he stayed after the other white South African exiles who had chosen one dictatorship over another eventually crawled back home, and he likes to think that is something.

Now, as he calculates his place in the world as being in the middle of a town that is in the middle of a country that is only known because it is close to Argentina, he has given director Lisa Swart an opportunity to portray a peculiarly fanatical generation of apartheid’s Afrikaners. And she does it well.

Dominantly, it is the manner in which she chooses her colours and her filming device. The film is drenched in civil service green and that odd, fading blond light that characterizes so many old home movies from the 1970’s. In this portrait, Nel’s face palls, his fingers, clutch and the air is weird and flickering. Possibly he has nowhere else to go, possibly he is still in love with his Paraguayan wife. Whichever, it is somehow disturbing when he plays “Die Stem”.
