Friday, August 31st District of Hip Hop's very own, David Stones will be live @ NYC's Recoup Lounge performing music from his forthcoming mixtape "The Steppin' Stone: All or Nuthin" accompanied by DJ Shy Guy. No Malice (f/k/a Malice of The Clipse) showed his support for the new David Stones single via a tweet saying, "@RollinStones I listened to [Why I Love It], dope! Keep doing ya thing, they need them gems."

Actress Terri Abney who starred alongside Aunjanue Ellis in the film "Money Matters" also showed her support via a tweet saying,"@RollinStones dude I listened to your song, it's cool! "same reason why yaul hate is why I love it" keep grinding. Best wishes"

Hip Hop journalist Tony Grands celebrated the single in a blog post stating,"Stones is back with a slow slapping, piano-heavy anthem for that real sh*t & those who live it"

Christopher Bryan of RapRISE also had great things to say about Stones' latest release in a blog post enthusiastically stating, "I love this joint. Sounds like David’s trying to bring the east coast back in a real way."

David discusses 50 Centallegedly borrowing one of his lines, FrankOcean,the state ofHipHop, his upcoming mixtape and much more. Below is a excerptfrom the 16minute interview.

After being asked about rumors of 50 Centborrowing lyrics from the upcoming Brooklyn emcee David Stones explained,"Idid a song 2 years ago in 2010 called 'Steppin Out' and in the chorus I say 'Young ST steppin out you knowI got the weaponout,yeah,that's what I'm about, I'm on that gritty-new-yitty-city-prettyshit,'".He then went on to address the similarities in Fiddy's track while also noting the link that tied bothsongs together,"weshot a video for it and one of the sites that put it up was BooBooTV" implying that there's a goodchance of50actuallyhearingthe song since it was featured on his official video blog. He continued, "in 2011 50 dropped a mixtape called [The Big] 10 and on the mixtape he had a song called 'Queens, NY'. In his verse he said 'We on that gritty shitty, City shit, New York, New York, Come through on that pretty shit". To clear up any speculation once and for all Po then simply asked ST "do you think he got that from you?" and he replied, "I believe so".

Aaron Matthews (of Metal Lungies) says David Stones has a "dope gravelly voice" while Sermon (of Sermon's Domain) expressed a similar opinion applauding Stones for his beat selection along with his "rugged gritty voice and lyrics"

After signing a management deal w/ Gallic Wars Mixtape in 2009 the CEO of the New York based entertainment company released a statement to the press saying "Stones brings you back to the essence of real Hip Hop". He then went on to state "Few, can hold a microphone close to Stones who I believe is the total package when it comes to a complete artist"

The Executive Producer of Gallic Wars Mixtapes, Andrew U the Perfectionist later revealed during an interview with YoRaps.com how surprised they were at the level of interest Stones generates stating "We put out a track of his and within a few minutes the guy had 3,000 plus downloads".

Buckshot has also publicly warned industry insiders and fans alike of the impact his cousin will have on the music industry via twitter stating "What happens when a Stone come rolling on you?... You're over!"

In a 2008 editorial Brian Kaysar aka Mr 730 (of Hip Hop Game) shouted out David Stones by simply stating "There's an up-and-coming dude named Stones from NY. From what I've heard so far, I like."

While commenting on David Stones' song "Boom Bap" Christopher Bryan (of Rap Rise) boldly stated "This track sounds like 2003. I mean that in a good way." Referring to the year that offered albums like Jay Z's "Black Album", 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Trying", Dip Set's "Diplomatic Immunity" and DMX's "Grand Champ" to name a few. In a previous post Christopher also described David Stones' flow as "ambitious", "gritty" & "super smooth".

During his Ear Hustlin’ blog Writer/Hip Hop Culture Analyst Tony Grands stated " Stones is bringing reality back in between clever punchlines & a hypnotic loop" while commenting on his buzz single "The Truth" produced by German based producer Ex. He then went on to describe the tracks accompanying visuals as "blurry but crisp" in a latter post.

In 2010 the popular urban media site Hip Hop Lead gave David Stones the official "HHL Co-Sign" after previously featuring David in the "Unsigned Spotlight" section.

Just posted the latest on Lauryn now here is the latest update on one of my favorite soul voices of all time aka Mellie bka Amel Larrieux. Shout out to all the beatiful females out there in this industry that stand for somethin. In case you haven't noticed by now I got a thing for yaw ha ha. Amel just sent out a lenghthy note to all of her fans (includin myself) and in this note she shared her desire to have ice cream every day which seemed kind of random but at the same time intriguin. Towards the end of the note filled with vivid descriptions of her childhood and her reasons for wantin ice cream every day she revealed that "Ice Cream Every Day" will be the title of her up comin album. Ice cream every day

Is what I want, and could have, if I wasn't concerned with being at my best
health. They say the brain becomes almost high with ice cream and cheese,
which comes in such a close second to ice cream for me, I totally believe
it. I am undeniably and thoroughly addicted to ice cream, regardless of its
origins. They're all great and all high enough in calories or sugars that
none should be had every day, by me, the insatiable one. Funny thing: I
LOATHE feeling full. Also, I want desperately to be more disciplined. Which
leads me to this thought: what about filling up on the sweetness of stuff I
can't eat? of early morning scents: fresh cut grass, wild lavender, earth.
Of views wide and overwhelming. Music and dance and literature....So, in a
sense, finding something else to indulge in, every day. When I was small, if
you asked me what I wanted every day, food would have been an afterthought.
What filled me up was running through the fields in delhi,ny, with not
another soul in sight besides me and a couple of stray cows; finding little
alcoves in the woods at my grandparents' place to construct a fort that
might take 5 more visits to complete; jumping into the crisp, clear water at
a lake in cape cod that was so fresh and crystalline , I could swim under
water until I got to the deep, dark blue of the center where I'd swim to the
surface and float on my back, testing my courage to not freak out at the
thought of a lake monster grabbing me down into the unknown depths. These
days are full of commitments and responsibilities and I'm lucky if I can
complete half of what I've planned to do in a single day.
Its easier for me to want the thing I can purchase and from which
,experience instant gratification ,than to have to plan the other stuff.
Plus, the ice cream is right down the hill. My mission is to replace the
creamy stuff with some this "other" and really enjoy it. And it would be
really fresh if I wasn't doing the new thing while secretly feeling it was
inferior to the ice cream. I wanna believe it. In the meantime, I'll treat
myself to some lowfat,frozen yogurt, no more than once a week. It pales in
comparison to the real deal, but I'll take my health over the alternative,
any day. Plus, I stop evolving once I stop challenging myself. Whether it be
a brisk walk in an area that gives me good vibes, an hour to read a book, an
uninterrupted sunset viewing or a juicy peach, I know I can unearth a
substitute, the lasting benefits of which will be felt in my soul.
Subsequently, Ice Cream Every Day is the title of my next album.

Laughter should occur more than once a day. Recently, I began to reminisce
to my kids about movies and stand up comedy and tv shows that induced
pants-wetting laughter. Of course, all we had to do was go to that handy,
dandy youtube and they were immediately experiencing exactly what I was
describing. They fell in love with most, but there are 4 we tend to revisit
a couple times a month. Come to think of it, this could be an
ice-cream-every-day type of substitute. The first two are of the
ridiculously hysterical,maya rudolph during her SNL days, doing the national
anthem and then doing and impression of whitney houston bringing brownies to
the SNL news team(this was obviously during the Bobby Brown reality show.)
The third is of Dana Carvey doing a song called choppin broccoli. And the
last is the segment from Eddie Murphy's Delirious where he talks about kids
and mcdonalds. Comedy is as crucial to my sanity and joy as is music. My mom
took me to see Eddie Murphy Raw when I was 14. Cool mom,no?When my kids grow
up and move out and I'm not as busy, I plan to go see live comedy at least
once a week. Btw,I heart Maya Rudolph:-)

We are still practicing being green even as we purchased new wheels. Its a
hybrid and its comparatively tiny for us, but we feel better about making
less of a carbon foot print and it makes life a bit easier with the two kids
and all. We may end up with a bigger car as well or maybe a hybrid SUV, but
we'd like to make conscious decisions about this kind of thing. Man oh man,
do you save a lot on gas with hybrids!

So, the time is nearing when I'll be performing in Oakland. Ah,the warm
audiences, the lovely waterfront location of Yoshi's and the rad farmer's
market at Jack London Square where I always buy more juicy,california
peaches than one person should actually consume. I love the diversity at
these oakland shows. It makes me wanna hang around and find out what its all
about:-) this will be the first time we bring both kids-sky's in the band
now and its summer break so sanji is comin along for the ride. If there are
any beautiful, nearby, outdoorsy destinations ya'll northern cali folk can
suggest for some family fun while I'm not working, send em' right this way!
I almost adopted a rabbit from the farmer's market last year, so I gotta
control myself ,cuz this time I'm coming with the bunny lover crew:-)

Recently I haven't been bloggin as much as I'd like to but theirs good reason for that. I've been workin on mutiple projects ("The Steppin Stone", A LP & Mixtape produced entirely by Shy Guy, A Ep produced entirely by Marcus D and a few others I cant really speak too much on yet). However I found out that L Boogie dropped a new joint not too long ago so I had to stop everything I was doin and make sure I wasn't bein selfish w/ this great music Lol. If you f#cks w/ Lauryn like I do then you may have already heard this but if you're out of the loop don't worry I GOT U! This joint is called "Repercussions". Ever wondered what my name meant? How did I get my aliases? And more? This should be a good read for you then. How did Stones get his name?

Stones got his name from the alternative term used for Diamonds. He says he believes that he was put here on this earth to shine much like Diamonds but chose not to call himself "Diamond" due to it being what he describes as too feminine (which we agree with 100% Ha ha. Diamond? For a male hip hop artist? Now that's just weird Lol). He's also know for being able to touch on any and every subject matter in his music and has been quoted saying he has "no weakness" when it comes to writing so the name Stones also symbolizes his self proclaimed "flawless" style.

Stones use to be one half of a rap duo called Styxx n Stones. Even after he stopped recording music as a group he still used the name.

Stones is also an acronym for Simply The One N*ggas Envy is Stones

What about the aliases?

S.T. - When Stones begin rapping under his moniker he commonly referred to himself as S.T. Ones and as time went on it was shortened to simply "S.T.".

VVS Stones - VVS diamonds (aka Stones) are flawless and widely known as one of the best quality diamond known to man so Stones often refers to himself as VVS Stones implying that his style/music/etc. is flawless.

Cherokee Stones - Stones sometime adds Cherokee in front of his moniker because of his family's Cherokee native american heritage. He's been heard saying that his knowledge of famous outlaw Crawford Goldsby aka Cherokee Bill has lead to him occasionally adding Cherokee to his name.

S.T. Ones: Stands for Stack Them Ones.

The Great David Blake: Well, he's destined to be one of the musical greats and his given name is David Blake so, DUH!

Random Facts...

Stones and fellow Brooklyn emcee/Co-CEO of Duck Down Records, Kenyatta Blake bka Buckshot are 1st cousins. Stones' father and Buckshots father are brothers (it doesn't get any closer than that).

Stones started recording his 1st mixtape "The New Stone Age" in January of 2006 and released it in June of the same year at the age of 17. The mixtape featured numerous fan favorites like "Gotta Eat", "Do What You Do", "Front Back (Side 2 Side)", "Get Wit It" and "Pssss Can I Talk To You" as well as many more. It was produced entirely be Touch Not productions and released by I.H. Entertainment.

Stones and West Coast emcee/producer DJ Quik have the EXACT same first and last name, David Blake. (Think about it: What if Stones, Buckshot & DJ Quik were all... Nevermind *wishful thinkin* Lol).

Stones is a hard core Wu Tang Clan fan and sites Method Man as his favorite member of the group. He also says Meth played a big role along with his cousin Buckshot in his desire to want to pursue rap as a career.

Although its hard to trace back to when Stones actually wrote his 1st rhyme he says he wrote his first 16 bar structured verse at 9 years old.

I know a lot of people been hittin me up sayin I've been slackin on updatin the blog but I been workin on this mixtape "The Steppin Stone" so I have a good reason Lol. Don't worry tho we're gonna start updatin more often in the up comin weeks. In the mean time check out this new joint produced by my dude Marcus D which will be on my up comin mixtape. It's called "Grind Baby Grind". This is a real smooth laid back joint that I really think represents me as an artist so we chose to leak it and give yaw a glimpse of what's to come. The project is comin along great. It has a real diverse vibe.
