Did you get your Paper Pumpkin this month?!?! OMG! Move over Stampin’ Success magazine, you’re now my 2nd favorite time of the month…Paper Pumpkin has become my new fav!
 
I got soooo excited for May’s when Stampin Up posted this picture of them going out. Look how yummy all of those boxes look … oh how fun it must be to work at SU!

Below are some ideas for the May Paper Pumpkin kit – “outside the box” from SU Concept Artist, Arika:
 
When I was helping to design this kit I knew I wanted to make something that would be a fun and easy way to use Instagram photos.  (I absolutely love Instagram photos and I loved putting this little mini album together using my growing stash.) After I finished my cute little album, I started playing around with other ways to use this kit. Here is what I came up with!
 

These cards were super-simple to put together. I used the Woodgrain Background Stamp to add some texture to the Whisper White Cardstock, added a few ink splatters, then stamped the little arrow stamp. I didn’t want the “Love this” on the card, so when I stamped it I just used a piece of tape to cover the word on the ink pad, then pulled it off before I stamped it on the paper. You can also use a Stampin’ Write Marker to mask out an unwanted piece of the stamp. I love the Polaroid frames in this kit! They look so cute on these cards with a little washi tape on top and the punched out heart in the middle.  So simple and fun. 

I also thought it would be fun to do a little scrapbooking with this kit. I took my favorite photos from the month of February and put together a few pages to remember our February. I used My Digital Studio to add some journaling to the photos and the paper from the kit, but other than that, everything I used came from the kit. I love how it turned out!
The “Best year yet” card came in the mail for my birthday from Anthropologie. I love including things from my everyday life in my scrapbooking. I know I will be using the Love This arrow stamp a ton in other memory keeping projects I am working on.  It is just such a fun and versatile little stamp.

To get the printing on the cute paper that comes with the kit, I just ran it through the printer. I made the quoted tab in My Digital Studio. As you can see, I had a ton of fun adding the little tickets and words all over my pictures. I love how the kit comes with so many.

I’m so sorry! Now both stamp sets; the Tool Shed stamp & Best Dad Ever sets are retiring next week (June 3 is the last day to get this) I ran out of time! I will do another “vellum impressions” video in the future, and I will be releasing a different video later (already taped). But I wanted to share this Father’s Day card idea while you can still get the stamps. It’s a great masculine birthday as well.

Vellum Impressions Technique:

  • Stamp the Tool Shed stamp on the front of vellum card stock using Staz On Jet black
  • Flip over and use the Simply Scored Stylus to press on the back of the vellum behind each image (similar to dry embossing)
  • Pressing on the back creates a “raised” and “frosted” look on the front so your vellum is textured. It’s important to use the Vellum Card Stock to prevent tearing. A lighter weight vellum will tear.

The card stock layers are:

  • Basic Black Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ (folded in half)
  • Chocolate chip: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Crumb cake (this layers under vellum, it only shows thru vellum): 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • Vellum Card Stock: 5″ x 3-3/4″

Once in a lifetime, you have an opportunity to something beyond your wildest dreams…the past 2 weeks…I lived that dream! It all started back in 2011, at the Stampin’ Up Annual Convention, when the 2013 Grand Vacation Incentive trip  was announced…an all expenses paid trip for 2 to FIJI!!! SERIOUSLY?!?! Did they just say FIJI!?!

Earning that dream trip was so exciting, and emotional. I am so grateful to all of you, my customers and demonstrator group sisters, who have been my rock, and my support and helped make this dream come true. This dream trip could not have happened without your support, I’m proud and humbled to be your Stampin’ Up Demonstrator. And to be a part of this amazing company, that has done so much for me and my kids. Vin-aka (thank you) from the very bottom of my heart!!

This 2 week trip, was one amazing day to the next. White Water Rafting down the Upper Navua river. Eating, dancing and being welcomed into a local village of Fijians . Rainbows, Glow worms, Thermal Hot Springs, Zip lining and a helicopter landing on a Glacier in New Zealand…just to name a few things we did. “We” = me and my friend Shaun along with some stamping friends. Did you catch my +1 on this trip was a man? It’s true, in the past I’ve brought a girlfriend, last year my parents and kids got to go to Disney…but this year, I brought a date! We’ve been dating for about a year now, thanks to our kids who brought us together and pretty much set us up. We are both divorced and in the same place in life, and became good friends having much in common. Our kids are friends with each other (hence why setting us up benefited them lol) and we all enjoy doing things together. I call it “family dating”.
