I didn't have a set of number stamps that would fit well on the tiny drawers so I used the digital scrapbooking software, My Digital Studio.

If you are not familiar with digital software, these numbers are an actual Stampin' Up! stamp set and the digital images came with the software. This time, the digital "stamping" was a better choice for my project because I needed to reduce the size of the numbers to 1/2". I then changed the color to Garden Green and printed.

Punch the numbers with the 3/4" Circle Punch and layer on Real Red card stock 1" Circle Punches.

Use the Crop-A-Dile to punch the handle holes and tie a 13" length of 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

Create this Christmas Project:

Find old metal cookie cutters at thrift and antique stores, this copper tree was $1.
Cut Deck the Halls Designer Fabric slightly larger than the cookie cutter.
Adhere the fabric to the outer edge of the cookie cutter with Sticky Strip; trim edges of excess fabric.
With a second layer of Sticky Strip, cover fabric edges with 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon leaving approximately 5" on each end at top of tree to tie knots for hanging.
Tag was stamped with A Cardinal Christmas, punched from River Rock cardstock. Embellished with Basic Pearls and hung with 1/2" Crochet Trim Chantilly.

Letterboxing is Stamping Fun

Stamp your image in the Letterboxer's book and stamp the found image in your logbook.

While we were on vacation this summer, I discovered a new stamping-related hobby all of my family can enjoy together; letterboxing!

Letterboxing is a combination of treasure-hunting and rubber stamping, what could be more fun?

People hide weather-proof boxes in public places with a book and a stamp. Usually, the stamp is handmade and is significant to the location.

There are clues to find the boxes on a couple of websites, this hunting aspect is the fun part for the men and kids, who may have at first dismissed the whole idea when you mentioned there would be stamping involved!

Some boxes are hidden in easily accessible areas, even in stores. Or you can choose to find one that requires hiking. There are icons on the sites that give details about each letterbox.

Hide the Letterbox where you found it for the next person to enjoy!

Take your own rubber stamp, an ink pad, a pen and a blank book. You can use a notebook or make your own special logbook in which to stamp the images you will find on your travels.

After you find a letterbox:

Stamp the image you found in your logbook
Stamp your rubber stamp image in the Letterboxer's book
Write the date and your Trail Name, which you will have chosen when you register on the website
Replace everything in the waterproof bag/container and hide it very well for the next adventurer!

Letterboxes are virtually everywhere so you can do this anytime; at home or on vacation, an afternoon project when the kids are bored, a good distraction to break up a long car ride.

Parents, homeschoolers and scout leaders; letterboxing helps with reading skills, direction, distance, teamwork and many are located near historical sites.

Beautiful Combinations with Color Renovation

My recent Top 10 List for the new Stampin' Up! Catalog listed the Color Renovation in the top spot!

Check out this Color Combination:

Cherry Cobbler - A deep, rich color that is very versatile; beautiful at Christmas and with fall colors, mix with a bold blue and green for a simple project, use sparingly with paler colors to highlight an image.
Marina Mist - Shown as the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon on the card, this color is a peaceful, medium blue. Another versatile color that works well in different combinations.
Wild Wasabi - A returning In Color, Wasabi was so popular it is now part of the permanent collection. I rarely meet a shade of green I dislike, I like this one!
So Saffron - This is a returning color and it looks great with so many things, I'm going to name it a "virtual neutral." (I just came up with that term, whaddaya think?)

Background Bleaching Technique

We are visiting family in Indiana now and I love to go antiquing here; much less expensive than in Virginia!

This card features two background techniques that give it an antique feel.

The Basic Black card stock is embossed with the beautiful new Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, #120175, $7.95

For the second technique, I folded paper towels together and poured on bleach, creating a temporary stamp pad.

The crown image from Artistic Etchings stamp set is stamped repeatedly with bleach on Rich Razzleberry card stock.

If you would like a more distinct impression using bleach, use a solid image stamp (crown is outline image) and apply the stamp to the card stock for a few seconds longer than you would with ink.

It is important to clean the bleach from your stamp immediately; use Stampin' Mist (#102394, $4.50) which will clean and condition the rubber to keep it from cracking.

The embossed crown is mounted on an Extra Large Oval Punch (#119859, $16.95) and ornate Lots of Tags Sizzlit Die (#114508, $21.95) cut with the Sizzix Big Shot.

American Flag Card with Embossing

We are celebrating with friends later (I still need to make deviled eggs, better hurry!) I hope you enjoy your holiday; don't forget to share the meaning with your children. My son was surprised that a 234-year old country is young!

Thanks to the original creator who posted this on our Stampin' Up! online board. I was asked yesterday where I get my ideas and I am grateful that Stampin' Up has created a place for us to share our ideas as well as sending us a monthly magazine.

The card stock is textured with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, used with the Big Shot and multipurpose platform.

HINT: Tombow Multi Purpose is the absolute best adhesive for deeply textured card stock like this!

Using the Direct-to-Paper technique, run the Whisper White Craft Ink Pad over the Night of Navy card stock. Apply Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat emboss to create shimmery stars.

To create the the look of movement, I cut wavy lines free-hand with the scissors tool on the Cutter Kit. (Protect your work surface with the Cutting Mat.)

Flag is adhered to Early Espresso card base with Tombow Multi on left side, then Stampin' Dimensionals in the center and finally a row of double Dimensionals on the right to add to the look of movement and depth.

Inside with Large Star punch and Modern Label punch; Celebrate is from the stamp set Fundamental Phrases.

Extral Large & Itty Bitty Scallop Punches

Introducing the new Extra Large 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch. This is the biggest scallop circle we have now and it makes a cute treetop with our new In Color Pear Pizzazz!

I discovered that the new Hostess stamp set Playful Pieces has a flower shape that fits in our smallest scallop circle punch; one of a set of three punches in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

The small flowers are stamped in another new color, Daffodil Delight. The card stock base is In Color Blushing Bride.

Watercolored Hummingbird Card

It was a joy water coloring the hummingbird image from the stamp set Spring Song; unfortunately this is one of the hundreds of products retiring NEXT WEEK!

Practice, practice, practice if you love the look of watercolor! Proper tools are essential; use high quality watercolor paper made of 100% cotton, stamp the outline image with permanent Jet Black StazOn ink and my absolute favorite: apply color with an Aqua Painter.

Re-creating Catalog Projects

In March, I hosted a Coffee and Catalog class where we re-created this cute card with the versatile stamp set Fun & Fast Notes from the Idea Book & Catalog, page 56.

Then we began experimenting with other images from the set!

Some cards use a larger Circle Punch for the Whisper White card stock.

HOW TO:

The images are stamped on both the Whisper White and the Close to Cocoa card stocks.
Cut out the image stamped on the Cocoa. Punch out the White Circle.
Adhere the Cocoa piece over the image you have stamped on the White Circle punched piece. This technique is called Paper Piecing.

Folk Flowers Stencil on Burlap Bag

Everyone is talking about recycling these days but don't forget to reuse as well! Reusing items you already have, things you find and buy from others.

Garlic cloves came in this little burlap bag; after planting I re-purposed it to hold a set of six cards for a gift.

The Folk Flowers Decor Stencil is from the Occasions Mini Catalog. You might recognize the flower image, it is the same as one of our stamps, Razzle Dazzle!

Stenciling was quite easy, I inserted a piece of cardboard in the bag so the ink didn't bleed through and sponged Chocolate Chip ink over the stencil, the ink dried quickly.

You can use the same technique for stenciling the image on cards and scrapbook pages, use more ink on the sponge for the burlap bag than the card stock.

Create a beautiful focal image or a subtle patterned background paper for a layout. Use the smaller imaged portions of the stencil to create embellishments. Stencils have a great deal of value!

I love the Stampin' Up! Lots of Tags Sizzlits Dies I just received. Two of the five tags in the set are shown here, in Ruby Red and Naturals Ivory card stocks.

Bird Punch + Butterfly Die = Easy Decorating

Birds, butterflies, flowers, hunting bargains at yard sales... I'm loving the warm weather!

This little bird house was a found treasure at a sale that I quickly and easily decorated with a few goodies from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

The Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch has three pieces in one punch; the bird's body, wing and the branch - love it!

(Cut your card stock in strips when you punch if you don't want to waste any, then you won't be left with blue branches when you punch the birds)

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die cuts and embosses FIVE fabulous butterflies in about four seconds flat!

Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper made this project even faster, the butterflies are a beautiful shade of Cameo Coral with a floral design, I simply adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Chocolate Bunny & Specked Easter Eggs

The Stampin' Up! Chocolate Bunny is popping up everywhere this spring!

My friend recently hosted a workshop and asked me to show her how to use the Color Spritzer Tool, something I never remember I even own!

With various Stampin' Write Markers, I misted two or three colors of ink onto Very Vanilla card stock for a light, speckled look.

Then a few punches using the Wide Oval Punch and voila: instant Easter eggs!

The Color Spritzer blows air across the marker tip, misting the ink. One advantage to using Stampin' Write markers is that you can re-ink them using the same reinkers that you refill the Classic Ink pads!

My friend tried a few different brands of scrapbooking markers she had from a large craft store and they were too wide to fit through the opening.

It was fun pulling out an old tool and creating with it again. Go "shopping" in your craft room this week and see what you can dust off and use, maybe for the first time even!

Scrapbook Layout with Wood Sheet Frame

I love that we can choose stamp sets from the Idea Book & Catalog that are $15.95 and under this year; like the set D Is for Dog on this layout.

I also used the Sale-A-Bration reward Designer Series Paper Pad Welcome Neighbor for the trees along the border.

Wood Sheets (page 158) were used to make this frame, I simply cut out the center with the Top Note Bigz Die and stamped on the wood with Classic Ink.

The wood is thin enough that I was also able to round the edges with my Corner Rounder Punch!

The Wood Sheets are sized to fit in the Big Shot without cutting, 5-3/4" x 13-3/4" and four sheets are only $9.95.

The title is cut with the Big Shot Bigz Stampin' Up! Alphabet Simple Letters, a useful sans serif alphabet for scrapbooking with a matching numbers die set available.

I rolled the Ballet Blue background with the Stampin' Around Wheel P Is for Paw with Versamark Ink (if you only buy one ink cartridge, make it that one!) and then I rolled again with Chocolate Chip ink on Kraft paper.

I cut out four smaller paws with the 1/2-inch Circle Punch and adhered them in the Antique Brass Build-A-Brads.

101 TIP: Wheels are a great way to create backgrounds and make your own Designer Paper on scrapbook pages, cards and other projects. Wheels are quick, simple to use and economical as well.

There is an area for journaling under the bottom right photo on the second page. The Kraft-colored piece with stamped bones is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals and a 2.5" x 4.25" tag is slid in behind it.

The journaling tag has a Round Tab Punch adhered on the right side so you can easily pull it out.

The colors on the layout are;

Sneak Peek from Easter Class

Isn't the Chocolate Bunny stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog so cute!

The detail is fabulous, he looks just like the real thing!

I stamped every combination of brown ink on various colors of card stock and my favorite is Chocolate Chip ink on Creamy Caramel card stock. I recommend you do the same, what colors are your favorites? I admit this doesn't look the most "chocolate-y" but you can see the most detail with this combination!

I have been wanting to use the Sweetheart Treat Cups and finally found the time. Don't pack away all of your hearts on February 15; your family and friends need love all year long!

The background Crushed Curry card stock has the I {Love} Love Jumbo Wheel in Real Red ink, wheeled twice.

Both the Wheel and the Sending Love Epoxy Brad can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

The cinnamon red hots are easily accessible with the Stampin' Up! Two Tags Big Shot die, my newest favorite!

The smallest tag slides between the pieces of Real Red and Taken with Teal card stock keeping the candy in the Sweetheart Treat Cup.

The Round Tab Punch with the three hearts stamped in red is adhered to the end of the Tag to easily pull it out.

HINT! Punch from the bottom layer of card stock first with the Full Heart Punch, in this case the Taken with Teal color. Then, line up the next layer to punch. Otherwise, the punch may not reach the center of the card stock; I speak from experience!

I use Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive to adhere the red card stock to the teal because it is a strong adhesive and it has a fine tip so you can put a thin line along the bottom edge. There is also a thick tip on the opposite end to add a thicker line along the other edges but leave plenty of space for the tag to slide in and out.

This adhesive also dries quickly and if you get some where you don't want it, simply let it dry, then remove it with our Adhesive Remover!

Here are the ingredients to create Peyton Manning ready to throw the football! Thanks to Ellen Kemper for the idea.

Football: 1 1/4" Circle Punch- punch circle and then punch away part of the circle for football shape
Helmet: 1 3/4" Circle Punch- punch white and blue circle, cut out area for face on white circle and cut strip of blue for top of helmet
Body: 1 3/4" Circle Punch
Shoulders: Small Oval Punch- punch one, cut in half
Face: 1 1/4" Circle Punch
Eyes: 1/2" Circle Punch, White & 1/4" Circle Punch, Black (2 each)
Nose: Heart to Heart Punch, smallest heart
Arms: Heart to Heart Punch, medium heart (2)
Face Mask Top: Small Oval Punch & Large Oval Punch- punch Small Oval (discard it) then punch the Large Oval around the hole left from the Small Oval. Use 1/2 of this.
Face Mask Bottom: Wide Oval Punch: punch Wide Oval (discard it) then punch a second Wide Oval around the hole from the first.

It's a blizzard here and the kid's are out of school today and tomorrow. We've been snowed in all weekend with an incredible eight inches of snow!

This is a fun project for you and the kids to make when the cabin fever sets in this winter. Kids enjoy talking about themselves; they can journal, draw or just color in this book depending on their age.

Ask them questions to get them started; what is your favorite room, which window in our house gives the best view, where is the best place to read a book?
