As mostly your favourite portal has another exclusive. We finally managed to locate Sandi, the dedicated and sincere Shahrukh Khan fan, who recently hogged the headlines by gifting a piece of moon to her hero on his 44th birthday (like on many previous ones!). She was mentioned by none other than King Khan himself, who thanked her personally! Well she is from Australia and a member of King Khan's fan site. And this is what she has to say:

Yes, it's true that I bought a block of land on the Moon for King Khan, as I wanted him to be the first Hindi film hero on the Moon! I want him to always be first with everything... For his birthday in 2002, I had a star in the Scorpius constellation named after him, (which was also a first for a Hindi hero) and the Moon idea was to follow the ASOKA theme of the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. Maybe for next birthday, I will have organized something to represent the Sun

Though I have written to Shah Rukh many times, I know that he doesn't answer fan mail, but when he mentioned me in his interview, it's more than compensated! I was understandably "over the Moon" with joy. Shah Rukh has shown me such respect and gratitude for what I have done for him that he will always be my hero.

It is only because Shah Rukh himself has personally mentioned the land on the Moon that it has become such major news all over the world, and I am so happy that it has made him smile. I would do anything for that, but I don't know how I will top this!

Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hain Tu to premiere at IFFI 2009

A feature film narrating the story of a young girl whose life changes after Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan utters "a few magical words" to her, will be premiered at the International film Festival of India (IFFI) 2009.

Shahrukh Bola Khoobsorat Hain Tu, a Hindi movie directed by theatre veteran Makrand Deshpande will be premiered during IFFI in Goa to be held from November 23 to December 3.

"The film is about a poor girl who sells flowers at a traffic signal and how her life changes after a chance encounter with King Khan, who rolls down the window of his car and tells her, Tu Khoobsurat Hai," said Deshpande.

Celebrated as one of the top-notch Bollywood actors, people may try to cut back Shah Rukh Khan by calling him a snob or an egoist, yet, the truth is that the actor is an genuine artist and a considerate human being who still remembers his roots!
The undisputed king of Bollywood recently paid a surprise visit to yesteryears ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini when he learnt that the actress was shooting near his pad. It is believed that they spent some quality time together while reliving old memories of their first film ‘Dil Aashna Hai.’

While speaking to a news daily, a source said, “The unit of ‘Tell Me O Khuda’ was shooting at KK Manzil, next to SRK’s house with Esha Deol, Arjan Bajwa and Chandan Roy Sanyal. The entire set was abuzz as they saw SRK. He headed straight for Hemaji who was present with the director Mayur Puri, and greeted her. Hemaji was pleasantly surprised and SRK met everyone with a lot of affection. SRK stayed on the sets for close to 45 minutes and fondly recalled the experience of shooting for ‘Dil Aashna Hai’ and the early years of his career.”

Another source maintained, “When SRK, who was relaxing at his house, learnt that there was a shoot in progress nearby, he inquired about who was shooting there. When he heard that it was Hema Malini, he immediately went to meet her. SRK still remembers his struggling days and the fact that Hemaji readily gave him a lead role in her directorial debut film, ‘Dil Aashna Hai.’ It went on to become SRK’s debut as well, although he had signed ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ and ‘Deewana’ earlier. He spoke at length with Hemaji, inquired about the film and even wished Esha luck for her comeback vehicle.”

When enquired Hema Malini, the veteran star confirmed the news and said, “Yes, he came to see me and Esha. I was shooting next to his house and it was very sweet of him to drop in to wish me. He has always shown respect for me and it was very nice of him.”

Okay, so he turned 44 on November 2. His son, Aryan, at age 12, is on the cusp of becoming a teenager, his daughter, Suhana, is now nine, and vis-à-vis domestic matters, life is on a steady keel for Shah Rukh Khan.

Gauri Khan has shed her shyness to walk the ramp for a couture line designed by buddy Karan Johar, and she's rated the number one party hostess in showtown today. Besides making personal phone calls to the invitees, she ensures all of them are at ease in their roomy bungalow Manna — even though some of the film personalities may be at loggerheads.

When Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine was in town, the Khans hosted a dinner for him. Earlier, Hollywood's Gerard Butler was fêted, and, of course, at the SRK birthday bash on Tuesday, the who's who of Bollywood turned up, with children being invited for an early evening playfest with the Khans' kids.

If there have been any downers for the actor, it has been the performance of his IPL cricket team, which has been faring disappointingly on the field for two years. His home production, Billoo Barber, didn't seduce the cash counters, and there has been the recurring back problem which doesn't actually slow up the high-energy actor, but certainly becomes a reason for constant medical check-ups.  Last year, SRK did have Rab ne Bana di Jodi to be gung-ho about. This year though, it's largely been a no-show, unless you count the cameo in Billoo Barber. The year may well be snatched away, in terms of prominence, by Aamir Khan whose 3 Idiots is expected to be released next month.

Next year will kick off auspiciously though, with SRK staring in Karan Johar's My Name is Khan. The major film he shoots next is being produced by his own company, Red Chillies.

Quirkily titled Raa-One (Raavan, get it?), this futuristic fantasy is to be directed by Anubhav Sinha, who doesn't have much of a track record, what with films like Cash to his credit. For the actor, the IPL cricket series will continue to be a point of focus again next year. Also in the works, there's his third tie-up with Farah Khan, who gave him two big hits with Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

That's the update on him, and if you try to fire an interview question at him, he laughs "Come on, I've been on the scene for more than 20 years now. I'm asked questions the entire day by my office people, by everyone around me, by my directors, my producers. Please, I like people who give  me answers."

In his characteristic rat-a-rat style, he says, "On my last birthday, a journalist asked me very sweetly how I would celebrate with my parents. "I didn't get angry, but I was confused. If she wanted to know something about me, she should have known the basics. How could she not know that my parents have passed away?"

SRK is famously media-savvy. After graduating in economics, he enrolled for a master's degree in Mass Communication at Delhi's Jamia Milia Islamia institute.

Television and films happened, so those studies were left incomplete. Ask him about the state of the media today, and he responds. "Two things have happened in television and print media. None of us have much time, we are all busy. Earlier, we used to get information through the newspapers or television. We used to form our opinions on the basis of that information.

"Now, it's no longer information. Now it's an analysis that X is correct and Y is wrong. So what happens is already analysed for you. You don't have to think anymore."

According to him, wild assumptions have become endemic. "If I haven't gone to a particular place to meet a certain person, why is it assumed that I don't like that person? Maybe I was not invited, but it's already been analysed and it's there for all to read and believe.

"I still don't speak to quite a lot of magazines and papers. Not because I've an ego, I just don't want to be a part of their world."

The assumptions being referred could have something to do with Khan's hot and cold professional relationship with Amitabh Bachchan. Dipping for a metaphor, SRK remarks, "So many people go swimming but I don't participate. I don't like swimming. But when I see other people swimming, it doesn't irritate me.

"I've gone beyond the stage of being judgemental. What you do is fine by me, but I don't have to participate in it. I take my kids to the swimming pool. I sit in the corner, I enjoy a cigarette and a coffee. But people ask, 'You don't swwwwiiimm?' Listen, swimming is great, but I don't swim."

No need to ask Shah Rukh Khan more questions. He knows what you want to hear. He's a cool  guy, so don't mess with him (Salman Khan?) and he won't mess with you.

He concludes, "I've received  the Padmashree honour in India, I've received honours in Malyasia, in France and the UK. I'm at Madame Tussauds, I've got a lovely house, beautiful children, a lovely family and I've got beautiful friends. They matter to me, not what the media or anyone wants to make of me."

Yeah, it’s true!! Shah Rukh Khan, the King Khan of bollywood who reigns over Indian dream factory , gets a piece of moon on his every birthday bought by an Australian lady fan and so has surpassed even King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who only perfected the ‘moon walk’ style of dancing in the world.

The Australian fan of Shah Rukh Khan, not only purchases the land on moon for King Khan in acres, but also sends the certificates of deed to him via the Lunar Republic Society. An ownership package includes a beautifully engraved parchment deed, a satellite photograph of the property and an information sheet detailing the geography of that particular region on the Sea of Tranquility.

In fact, anybody can buy land on the moon for a sum of $37.50 per acre. However, this purchase at one time can not exceed the limit of 40acres per transaction.

The most beautiful thing about Shah Rukh Khan getting birthday gifts from an Australian fan, and that too on the moon, is that she keeps in touch with him throughout the year. Shah Rukh recently admitted that the lady regularly writes him mails, which are generally written in multiple colors. Naturally, King Khan was ecstatic about getting so much of love from his fans in India and abroad.

Even Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan will be coming together in a flick after almost three years. Their last outing was ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’, and that too had been a runway hit at the box office.

As far as theme of ‘My Name Is Khan’ is concerned, it will once again have Shah Rukh Khan trying to find out his love from one part of the US to another (as the film is set in the post bombing New York)

The star's birthday party was a loud and noisy affair, despite his family planning a low-key affair.

The Khans wanted it to be a low key affair this time around. But then Shahrukh Khan is not called the king just for the sake of it. Shahrukh’s dear friend Sanjay Kapoor hosted a party in the honour of the star’s birthday.

As the gathering was for the king himself it sure had to be king size. The birthday bash was held at Sanjay’s bunglow which is situated at the posh suburbs of Juhu. So when everybody was busy quipping about SRK’s birthday, the star himself was invited to this private celebration.

It was a star studded evening and guess who all were there? Well, to begin with, the best friends were all there to mark their presence at this event. By best friends we mean none other than Karan Johar and Farah Khan. And we are not done yet?

Also, walking in to wish a happy-happy birthday to Shahrukh Khan was Karishma Kapoor along with hubby Sanjay. What added more cheer to the occasion was the little belly bump on the mom to be, Karishma.

Who else? Well, Kareena Kapoor made her way to the party along with Saif Ali Khan and the couple, like always, was a treat to watch.

Among others was the designer friend Shabina Khan.

A superstar to be, Aryan, Shahrukh’s son, added a lot of jitter. Looking like a million bucks in the party, clad in the super flashy brands from tip to toe, he sure was the centre of attention.

The thousand-strong crowd outside his sea-facing bungalow literally melted in the scorching November sun, their eyes hungry for just a glimpse of the man who rules Bollywood. The mayhem on November 2, Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, had to be witnessed to be believed. The Bollywood Badshah may have had little to say at the box office in 2009, but his popularity is super intact. Excerpts from a conversation with the star who turned 44 on Monday...

Your looks belie your age!
Physically, I feel 25-26. But I have no problems in accepting that I’m 44. In fact, if I look good, then the media writes that I’ve done plastic surgery. Honestly, if I sleep well, then I look good. Last night I slept well.

This has been a year of mixed fortunes...
I enjoyed Season II with my cricket team. I was a bit disappointed when we didn’t fare well, but I know we’ll bounce back. I didn’t have film releases with the exception of Billu which was special for me. I got a honorary doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire, won a couple of other honours. My Name is Khan will come in February 2010. I had my shoulder surgery that kept me out of action, now I’m on the road to recovery. I spent quality time with my kids. I’m finishing my book 20 Years Of A Decade. It was an unfortunate physical year but a good emotional one.

Are there any specific thoughts on growing older?
Yes, I have been constantly thinking about what I can give back to people, to society. Allah has been kind to me, He has given me so much. I have just six to seven good friends in the industry. But the media is my friend. You are the ones who remind me of my birthday at least four-five days in advance. You have given me so much love, so has my audience. Now I want to do something in return. I want to bring a smile to the faces of youngsters. I don’t want to start an NGO, but I do wish to do something for the cause of the girl child... The feeling of wanting to give is stronger now than it has been. I think of life as work. I want to introspect as to which direction I should take my life in. I want to do something to save the environment. Honestly, I haven’t done my bit yet but I will start now.

What’s next as far as films go?
RA1. It is something I’m kicked about. It’s a film that children are going to love. It will have action, special effects and a super hero.

Did you receive any special gifts?
Yeah, Karan Johar gave me a lap top bag and a pair of very expensive shoes. My children are making something for me that will come over the weekend. Parmeshwar Godrej sent me a gift. She does that each year. One of my fans has bought me a piece of land on the moon, one has bought me land in Scotland. I’m accepting gifts till this weekend, so all of you who wish to give me something can do so till Sunday.

Billu was the only release King Khan had at the box office this year. However, SRK was busy with the shooting of the film My Name Is Khan that hits theatres in February next year.

On the 2009 IPL front, he has had a rough season with his team’s dismal performance and early exit from the tournament.

Nevertheless, good things have happened to the superstar in the form of honors and accolades he has received throughout the year. The most notable being University of Bedfordshire’s honorary doctorate conferred upon him.

Sources close to SRK say that her latest release Kanden Kadhalai has given her the opportunity to act opposite Shahrukh Khan in this untitled film directed by Farhan Akhtar.

Currently, Tamannaah is busy with Paiya opposite Karthi and Thillalangadi opposite Jayam Ravi. She will also be starring in Vijay's 50th film Sura.

He will be playing a super hero in his next venture Ra One, produced under his home banner Red Chillies. Chilli-hot babe Kareena will be starring opposite King Khan for the second time after Ashoka. Bebo has done item numbers in the Shahrukh Khan films Don and Billu Barber.

Sources say Kareena will also be doing some daredevil stunts in Ra One. The film will start shooting in the USA once the official announcement is made. The production house is currently busy in finalizing rest of the cast. The film is expected to release for Diwali in 2010.

Shah Rukh Khan finds it tough to make friends

He may be one of Bollywood's most popular stars but for actor Shah Rukh Khan, fame hasn't really guaranteed him hundreds of friends.

"My wife says I don't have time for friends and that is true. It is difficult to make friends. I hardly have any," Khan told reporters at his Mumbai residence.

The actor, who turned 44 on Monday, said he only makes friends while filming a particular movie but then "moves on".

"We are all so busy working, you have friendships when you are working together and creating a product like a film together," he said.

"Then, you move on to the next product and you make new friends there."

But that doesn't mean Khan has no friends at all.

"I have a good relationship with those that I work with, maybe that is why they work with me," he said.

The actor, who has wrapped up shooting for director Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan" said 2009 had been a tough year for him after a shoulder injury kept him out of action for two months.

"I haven't earned much this year but I hope to catch up," he said.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who turned 44 Monday, spent some "quiet time with family and friends" on his birthday, putting behind a year of ups and downs and looking forward to a strong comeback.

This year had just one of his movie hitting the silver screen, but he said that he has more in his kitty for his fans for the next two years.

"I am a workaholic, but in the last year I couldn't do much due to my shoulder problem. My team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn't do too well and I shot for just one film 'My Name Is Khan'. My injury also pulled me down in terms of my endorsements, but I had time to introspect and spend a quieter time at home with my children," said Shah Rukh during a media event.

"I feel more energetic and happy now and totally ready for a comeback with many projects in the next two years after this one-year break," he added.

He had a "quiet time with his family and friends" on his birthday.

Shah Rukh was in the capital Sunday to kick off the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and cheer and egg on the runners. Shah Rukh, who is coping from his shoulder surgery he underwent earlier this year, did not run for the marathon, but was a ‘cheerleader’. His mere presence was a source of inspiration for them.

He said: "Though I could not run this time because of my shoulder and knee injury, I'll try to be fit and run next year. Running is a spiritual experience." 2009 was bad for him in terms of IPL, as his KKR failed to showcase a good performance.

He also suffered mental abuse after being detained at Newark Airport in the US in August.

Otherwise, 2009 gave the actor many reasons to cheer as he became Dr Shah Rukh Khan when he was presented an honorary doctorate in arts and culture by the Bedfordshire University in London.

He was also bestowed with two honours by the South Korean government - an honorary belt in taekwondo and the title of an honorary ambassador for culture and tourism.

Shah Rukh even purchased a 20 million pound apartment in London.

Shah Rukh is eagerly waiting for the release of ‘My Name Is Khan’, ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Don 2’.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai on his birthday SRK said, "I accept the age that I am in, but I actually feel like I am 25 or 26, except for a few physical injuries that I have had."

Sharing his secret about his good looks Shah Rukh said, "The funny part is that when I look nice, people think that I must have done a plastic surgery, and when I look bad they say I am over and done with. The secret is that on days when I sleep well, I look good and the days when I don't, I look old."

When asked about the year gone by SRK said, "Fortunately or unfortunately, I count my years by the work that I do. Last year has been bad on the physical work front, I haven't done too much work either. Whatever little work that I have done has not done as well as I wanted it to be. Kolkata Knight Riders hasn't reached the heights that I had wished it would. The injury has put me down in terms of my advertising, endorsements, meetings etc. But on the other hand, what has been wonderful this year is that I have had time to introspect, I have become quieter. I have been able to spent a lot of time with my children. Somehow, all this has made me feel more energetic and happy."

Sounding positive about the future SRK said, "Because of this one year break, you all will have to deal with a lot more energy, lot more work and lot more happiness for the next two years."

Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan, who’s turned 44 today, came in from Delhi to ring in his birthday with best friend Karan Johar, gorgeous wife Gauri Khan and their two kids, Aryan and Suhana.

Shah Rukh was in London till October 30, he then flew to New Delhi via Mumbai for a professional engagement and then landed back in Mumbai only hours before the clock struck 12 on his birthday.

Gauri and Karan are expected to host a surprise party for the actor with regulars like Juhi and Jai Mehta, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Chunky and Bhavna Panday, Kajal Anand, Arjun and Mehr Rampal, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan attending it.

The actor will also greet fans who gather outside Mannat each year on his birthday and is expected to have an hour-long media interaction, too. “He usually ends up cutting at least two dozen cakes because he finds it hard to turn away any of his well-wishers,” said a source.

SRK wants to perform in CWG opening ceremony

The controversy-marred build-up notwithstanding, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan today said next year's Commonwealth Games here would be successful and expressed his desire to perform at the event's opening ceremony.

"God willing, I think India will hold a successful Commonwealth Games. I am confident about that," Khan told reporters on the sidelines of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon.

Khan said he would love to perform during the opening ceremony of the event at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and would also come to watch some of the sporting events.

"I would love to perform (in the opening ceremony). It really sounds great. I will come during CWG. Get ready Dilliwalo," he said amid loud cheers from fans.

Khan said it was heartening to see such a large number of people braving the early morning chill to participate in the half marathon.
