Some dogs from Bridgend Dogstrust where I came from..doing their Good Citizen Award I don’t think I could manage it, as there are bound to be rabbits or cats looking at me…

It’s no easy feat to pass the Bronze or Silver Good Citizen Award, and here are two former Dogs Trust dogs working towards the Gold! These beautiful Staffies and their dedicated owners (who are also volunteers) show off what they are learning to do (or, in Millie’s case, what she chooses to!).

It’s not just Dorothy we’re looking for, we’re searching for Toto too. The Wizard of Dogz is a story that unfolds in a magical dog-inspired World of Oz, where the yellow brick

My old home the dogstrust is looking for a home for the lovely terrier Benji

I can’t believe I left there just over a year ago, so give Benji a chance as well!

Gorgeous two year old Terrier Benji is desperate for a new home and, as you can see, he’s looking everywhere!

Benji is happiest outdoors, mucking about and digging holes, so staff at the Dogs Trust’s Rehoming Centre in CourtColman think he’d make a great farm dog. Benji is housetrained and gets on well with other dogs so would enjoy living with another canine companion. He can be quite strong willed though and would benefit from confident, consistent handling from an experienced dog owner.

I don’t look too happy but that’s because dad keeps taking my photo, but was a bit shocked to not have any hair but everyone says I look very smart.

Lots going on in the house over the past few days. Quite a few strange men and a lot of noise. My poor ears! Think the builders have been in.. and out.. and in again. A new room has magically appeared next to my bed. And the dining table has moved. I now get to sit under it while the grown-ups have their tea.

I also get to slip and slide a lot as the stuff they’ve put on the floor is slippy. And a bit noisy, too.

The good thing about it is that mum is less likely to go bonkers if I go in there with muddy feet. I hope she realises that I don’t actually know I have muddy feet unless someone tells me. Yes, I can see the paw prints too, but only AFTER they appear. No-one’s perfect.

“Belle is a four year old West Highland White who was handed over to Dogs Trust Bridgend following a family split. Sadly, because she is very scared of other dogs and people she can’t be rehomed, however she has recently made friends with a terrier called Benji, which is a giant step for Belle.

Belle has skin allergies so needs regular medicated baths, but this isn’t a problem because she loves them. She’s a bit of a tomboy and likes getting her coat muddy especially when she’s playing football with Benji. Belle is currently undertaking her Good Citizen Bronze Award which involves lots of training – she loves it and it has really increased her confidence levels.”

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and cares for over 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year through its network of 18 rehoming centres in the UK and Ireland. Although thousands of dogs are rehomed every year, a few will spend their life as permanent residents at Dogs Trust as sponsor dogs.

Because it happened a few weeks back, I can tell you all about ‘the incident’ of the dog lead and the cat. It’s only now I can talk about it (or woof about it) as it’s taken mum quite a long time to calm down about it and I didn’t want to get her started.

I love my mum but she needs to remember just one thing: I AM A DOG

And because I am a dog I do certain things – like chase cats. I love chasing cats. But the other week even I realise I took things a little too far. I chased a cat and forgot I was on a lead and mum was at the other end. The cat went under a car, I followed it, the lead broke, mum hurt her hand and I ran off.

I did come back though, with my tail between my legs. I could hear mum shouting my name. She picked me up and carried me home. She was not a happy bunny (bunnies?? I love bunnies too.. but I digress). She wouldn’t talk to me for ages.

She had to go back to the house where the car was and let them know there was a lead wrapped around their back wheel. Dog lead RIP. That was the last we saw of that one.

On the up side I now have two shiny new leads! Perhaps I meant for the old one to go

Mum and dad could not go to work today due to the snow – but Iam helping mum work from home

I went out for a walk this morning early with dad it was very windy and the snow was blowing everywhere – but I love snow dad does not..

Hopefully when mum has finished for lunch she will take me out for a bit.

in other news I have got a new bed – a bit scared of it as its very soft and comfy but getting used to it.

Something funny was going on at home the other day. Mum and Dad were making a lot of noise with a lot of paper. I heard someone say Christmas… but as I’m a dog I don’t know what Christmas is. Anyway I had a new toy…a present from T. It was a black, squeaky pig and I LOVED IT! But after only 10 mins Dad took it off me.

I know I bit his ear off (it was made of plastic I heard mum say) and the squeaky bit fell out but was there really any need to chuck it in the bin???!!!! Ah well, maybe next time they’ll find me something I can’t wreck.

Oh, and thanks to nannie Margaret for the pigs’ ears. Lovely!!
