It seems pretty crazy that we are a month away from Christmas, but here we are..! There’s a lot going on and we are excited for you and what God’s doing in the student ministry at Southwood.

Don’t forget we leave the church tonight at 6pm sharp for the Care Xplosion at South Tulsa Baptist Church! Bring some canned foods like we’ve talked about and be ready for a great evening with your friends.

Also don’t forget about the Global Missions Conference this weekend! Afshin Ziafat will be speaking (an incredible communicator!) and there will be great worship as we focus on missions teaching.

Student Ministry bulletin from September 6, 2009

HIGH SCHOOL ‘ONLY’ WORK DAY
– Saturday, Sept. 12 –

We’re “RENOVATING” Room 208. Come dressed ready to paint, move furniture, clean-out a closet. Pizza & Cokes provided. We’ll work 9:00am – 2:00pm and be done in time to watch OSU and then OU, on TV, that day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ‘ONLY’ SWIM PARTY
– Sunday, Sept. 13 –

We’ll head to the Boatmans from 6:30 – 8:45pm.

”SEE YOU AT THE POLE”
- Wednesday, Sept. 23 -

Find out what YOUR SCHOOL is doing and GET INVOLVED!

FCA / OSU GAME DAY
– Saturday, Sept. 26 -

We’ll load & leave at 2:00pm and return by 11:00 that night. If you have your ticket, all you’ll need is money for food at the game.

S.N.A.C. (SUNDAY NIGHT AFTER CHURCH)
– Sunday, Sept. 27 –

YEC payments due

This is an update to simply let you know money is due for YEC this Wednesday, July 29th. Again the cost is $40 which includes conference fees, room costs, pizza, and breakfast on Saturday. You will need extra money for 2-3 meals and concessions. See you guys Wednesday!

Youth Evangelism Conference 2009

It’s hard to believe, but YEC is coming at us fast. We’ll be pouring out more detailed info as the date arrives, but here’s what you need to know for now:

- Only 30 spots are available for this trip, so sign up quickly!
- To reserve your spot just turn in your money for the trip.

Cost:

$40.00 (This covers: hotel, conference, breakfast, and pizza Saturday night)
Extra money will be needed for 2-3 meals & concessions.

Departure time:

Friday, August 7th from Southwood at 3:00pm

Arriving home:

Saturday evening at Southwood around 7:00pm

Extra info:

Jeff Johnson will be leading worship for the sessions and Chad Norris will be our speaker. Go to the SKOPOS website for more detailed info!

Falls Creek early registration ends soon!

Students, if you haven’t already begun registration for Falls Creek, do so quickly! After June 14th we must bump up the price, so let us help you save some money by registering now!

Also, don’t forget to ask your friends to come, seriously! This is an evangelical camp, meaning they will hear the message of Jesus over and over all week. Hopefully this week will make a serious impact on your friends who haven’t experienced Jesus. This is what it’s all about.

Getting started with Falls Creek 2009 registration

School is so close to ending and you know what that means, snow cones! No more academic responsibility! Simply put, fun! We also think it means, more importantly, more time to grow as a church family and experience God together. We love summer because it tends to be the time of year we have opportunities to focus more on our spiritual growth.

One of our favorite places to experience this awesome benefit of summer is at Falls Creek, definitely the best event of our summer.

I just wanted to let you know that registration is possible for camp starting now. Why am I telling you about this so early? Because if you register early, you get to save a little money, something nobody is complaining about in our wonderfully weak economy.

So head over to the Falls Creek page and find out the requirements for registering early so your family can take advantage of the early registration discount!

Looking ahead at Vacation Bible School

Southwood’s annual VBS draws near! This means the children’s ministry is looking for help from their favorite co-ministers in the church, you! The students! This year we are trying something different and holding VBS at night instead of in the morning. This is wondrous news to us all! We will not miss out on our beloved summer sleep in days. Let me entertain your basic questions:

Date?
June 14th-18th (Sunday-Thursday)

Time?
6:00pm – 8:30pm

Perks?
Volunteers get a free meal every night starting at 5:15pm

How can you help? Click over to our Forms page and fill out the VBS commitment form then give it to Jeff! Your service will really show these kids how Jesus has personally impacted your life.
