2CELLOS: Smells Like Teen Spirit & Smooth Criminal [Music]

2Cellos is a Croatian cello duo consisting of Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser. The two got together and uploaded a cello cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal. Which did receive a fair amount on YouTube video views online. Since then there has been no turning back for the talented duo. The idea of this post came about because their cover of Nirvana's 'Smells like teen spirit' has made it to the front page of Reddit and has already received about 500 comments. Their debut studio album covers a lot of rock songs but nonce has received as much recognition as 'Smells like teen spirit'. The 2 cellos have done a fantastic job of covering the hit Nirvana single that critiques say defined the music style of an entire generation. Blogger Custom URL not working without WWW [Solution]

This is going to be a little techie, away form our usual social media. The reason for this post is becasue those of us who use Blogger with a custom URL are facing a problem. Whenever someone types Sociolatte.com without the www in front of it. It does not direct to www.sociolatte.com. This means that when someone types out web address with out the www in front of it. A 404 error is show and therefore a blank page. Apparently this is a problem which the Google team are having and it has not been working from Sept 19 or maybe even a few days before that. Something like this is quiet stressful and many of you, must be just typing domain names in your browsers without the www. Therefore if there is no redirect, means we loose a lot of visitors, which is not something any blog will want.

So there has been a temporary free solution offered by the Blog ExtremeTechblog. If youa re facing a problem like this you can definitely use it. We can confirm that it works -- bloggers name is Roomi and it is a fantastic solution.

Facebook have been rolling out quiet a few products that are going to help them generate revenue. We saw the launch of Facebook Gifts and Facebook offers. We now have promoted posts that essentially let your promote your own post of status update to a larger audience. This is a simple guide to help you get started promoting your posts.

Benefits of promoted posts
Your friends login ot Facebook and many updates get lost in all the clutter on the news feed. Promoted posts will stay on top and mostly friends will click on it, if it is interesting. You can also promote the post to friends of friends.

How to create a promoted post on Facebook.
You can do so by clicking on the 'Promote' link available under any of your posts. Once you click that you will have to pay using paypal, credit card, MOLpoints or Western Union QuickPay. Once this is done you can select your audience. Friends, friends of friends, custom lists or specific people.

Facebook Offers & Event+ for Page Admins

Facebook offers has now rolled out internationally to Facebook page admins. The product was in beta testing with a select number of Facebook page publishers but is now available to all users who run and administer a page on Facebook. It is know as Offers, Event+ on the Facebook home page. There are some preconditions however to be able to use it - your page must have at least 400 likes and you must have about $5 in your account. It is of use to especially merchants who have offers to products they might want to run on Facebook, targeting members of the page and friends of friends.

Facebook Offers: How does it work
Let's say you have a small store or a business that people like on Facebook. You page has received over 400 likes and you would like to now run a campaign to make the most of it. You can run a promotional offer on Facebook, offering a discount on a product or service that generates more interest in your page and make a profit. Facebook have also said that these campaigns are run individually by the merchants and Facebook does not get a commission. Page admin can also add a bar-code and promotional offer numbers for better tracking of campaigns.

Who benefits?
Both Facebook and local merchants would benefit from these campaigns and this add additional revenue sources to both merchants and Facebook. Merchants now get an additional opportunity to generate revenue in additional to traditional media sources that have existed in the past like print and visual ads.

Facebook Offers, Event+: How to use.
Go to your page and click the Offers, Event+ link
From the drop-down click on offer - choose in-store, online or in-store + online, depending on your offer. In-store if people can walk-in to your store and redeem the offer or coupon.
Compose your Ad set the budget and time and you're good to go.

The latest e-reader from Amazon the Kidle Paperwhite starts shipping globally from today. One of the special features of the Paperwhite, is its built-in light. Kind of similar to Barnes and Noble glowlight. Offering readers the ability to read in any kind of light situation either night or day. The light is evenly displaced within the screen and not directed at the reader's eyes. Illuminating and e-ink screen can be quiet a task which Amazon has almost reached perfection in.

The Paperwhite comes in two versions, a 3G version for $179 and a Wi-Fi version for $119. Each Paperwhite is capable of holding 1,100 books and can can last for more than 8 weeks on a single battery charge, this even with the light on. Now this is an impressive e-reader.

So, how good is the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite's built-in light.
You will feel that the device glows when it is switched on. Unlike back-lit displays that project light out to a users' eyes. The Built-in lighting of the Paperwhite actually guides lights from above onto the whole screen. So the device has a glowing feel to it - this allows users to adjust the light to all reading conditions; sunny day at the beach or nighttime reading conditions. So let's start this post with this to say. If no one is watching TV, it's best to turn it off - this according to researchers in the latest issue of pediatrics. So what is Background TV - typically parents who leave the TV on while no one is watching. The study that took place in American households studied the effect of TV noise and visuals that kept going on in the background while parents and kids went about their day. The constant noise in the background is shown to alter kids attention between noise and the play tasks at the same time. This constant shift has adverse effects.

Why is exposure to background TV bad for kids.
Background TV as apposed to actual TV viewing has brought out some startling results. Background TV according to a previous study has been shown as a deterrent to development to social skills in kids. Specifically acts as an impediment to social skills, impulse control, the ability to concentrate and complete tasks, lower interactions between parents and kids. Lower a kids' performance on tasks that require thinking and drain kids' attention.

The study further explains that the average US child was exposed to 232.2 minutes of background television on a typical day. As kids get older they are exposed to less background TV. The research suggests as is implied that turning the TV off when no one is viewing will definitely help your child learn better and grow with the right social skills and less impediment to growth and learning.

Facebook Smart Lists: How it works

Facebook have been creating lists for users and one of the lists that has started appearing recently is know as 'Smart Lists'. This is an automatic list, meaning Facebook populates this list for you. There are two main reasons why users create and maintain Facebook lists.

1. View updates from only people in that list -- say you have a list know as School Friends, you can always click on this list to see updates from the people on that list. So instead of browsing through your entire news feed for individual updates, you can click on the list and see all the updates from people belonging to that list.

2. Post status updates to only certain friends on Facebook -- so when you want to update only a certain group of friends, you can post a status update and from the drop-down choose only the group or list of people who you want to be seeing this post and replying to it.

Facebook has taken the liberty to work for you by creating Smart Lists. Automatically populated by the Facebook algorithm, that works for you. Here are a few questions if you're wondering how this whole process happens.

How to activate Facebook Smart Lists
On your news feed you should see the Smart List introduction, also if you go to your other lists on Facebook, you should see the suggestion to create and maintain a smart list. You would need to click 'Okay' to get the list setup.

Who are the friends' that Facebook suggests for this list
Smart lists automatically update themselves with coworkers, classmates, local friends and family members based on your friends' profile info.

How to edit 'Smart Lists'

No, smart lists are a group of lists that update themselves automatically. You might have been using many passwords and therefore have become reliant on the login manager in Google Chrome. Sometimes however you are asked to login again and you want to remember what the original password is but cannot remember. There is a simple way to view those characters hidden behind the asterisks. You need to have stored this password and login information in Chrome for it to work.

View your hidden passwords in Google Chrome

1. Click on the wrench icon in Chrome

2. Choose settings

3. Then advanced settings

4. Scroll down to passwords and forms

5. Click on manage saved passwords

6. Click on the password (Hidden as asterisk characters) and a blue 'Show' button pops-up

The official ad for the iPhone 5 is now available on YouTube. This after all the fuss made by Samsung and ads for its GS3. Where in addition to other things said that the screen was larger than the iPhone 5 and that the next big thing is already here. The ad for the iPhone 5 is however really cleaver and it's titled Apple - iPhone 5 - TV Ad - Thumb. It shows the range of the human thumb and how the iPhone 5 has been designed with a touchscreen to exactly fit that range. The obvious message is that screens much larger don't really fit that range and therefore become quite inconvenient. Nextdoor is a Social Network that is meant for neighborhoods and people living close by. In a way bringing your neighborhood online and creating awareness among communities. Also a place if you would like to get to know your neighbors a little more and start sharing. Provided of-course that they are already there on Nextdoor. The social network also says that they've been inspired by the early days of Facebook and to join you would need to enter your real name and your real address. Once you have entered this information you will get a postcard to verify that it is you at this address. A call to your landline phone number. Credit card verification or reference from an already verified neighbor. These are the four methods that Nextdoor uses to verify that you indeed live in that neighborhood.

Nexdoor: How it works
1. Head over to Nextdoor and you will be asked to enter information like your email ID, street address, city, state and Zipcode to see if your neighborhood is already listed.
2. If you neighborhood is already listed you would need to enter any of the four methods mentioned above to prove your existence in that neighborhood.
3. If your neighborhood is not listed you can send the site a message asking them to add your neighborhood.
4. Once setup you will need to create a profile and introduce yourself to your neighbors and let them know a little bit about you.
5. Now that you have joined other neighbors online you can view your news feed, maps and recommendations. All the things you must be familiar with if you are used to using Facebook, Google+ and Twiitter.

You can also draw your neighborhood on top of a Google map. Each neighborhood online might consist of 50 to 2000 members. Twitter: How to change your header image

As you might have been seen there are a lot of profile's using the new Twitter header image. The header image works like Facebook's Timeline cover and Google+ cover image. So when people visit your profile there have a nice big banner image to view with your profile picture placed in the center of the image. It looks very impressive especially if done right. You can either do this on the Twitter App or on the web - the Twitter iOS App for iPhone and iPad is pretty easy to use and configure the new header image.

How to change the Twitter image on your iPhone or iPad
1. Open Twitter
2. Tap on the 'Me' icon on the top of your page. This leads you to your Twitter profile page.
3. Tap the 'Settings' icon under your profile image
4. Choose edit profile
5. Select change header
6. You can either choose 'Take a Photo' or 'Choose Existing Photo'. Take Photo will allow you to use your camera to take a picture and use the same as your header image.
7. Select save and your done.

How to Change your Twitter image on the web
1. Login to Twitter
2. Click the Cog icon on choose settings
3. Click on design and scroll down
4. Beside header click on change header
5. Select an image to use - click on save and you're done

Note: Recommended dimensions of 1200×600 and a Maximum file size of 5MB is what Twitter allows. Smaller images are fine but not too small as the quality of your header image will drop. Impressive images are sure to get more people to follow you. Be creative and make a connection between your header image and your profile or avatar.

How to update Twitter and Facebook using Siri [iOS 6]

To be able to update your Twitter and Facebook using Siri you will need to have the latest iOS 6 on your Device. Once you get it you can send out Tweets by simply speaking them and Siri will update Twitter with your Tweets. We do have a guide on how to get the latest iOS 6 on your device. Once you got everything setup and ready, you can now launch Siri and start sending Tweets based on your voice-based dictation. Once Siri has been opened all you need to do is say 'Tweet' followed by your update. Once you update is ready Siri will send out your tweet to all your followers. You can also tag people if that person's Twitter name is in your contacts. This way you can mention your friends in your Tweets.

Sending a Facebook status update is even simpler. Tell Siri 'Post to Facebook' and anything you say after Facebook will be used as your Status update. Once you message has been reviewed simple post and it get onto your Facebook status. iOS 6: How to download and install

iOS 6 has been released and you can now update your iPhone, iPad and iPod with the new operating system. If you want to know if your device is compatible with iOS 6, please check the image above, this is a screenshot from Apple and you can click on the image to enlarge. All iPhone 3GS and later can upgrade to iOS 6. All second generation iPad models and all iPod Touch models fourth generation and later can upgrade. So if you are ready to continue with the downloading and installing the new iOS 6, let's get started.

There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 6, Over the air and using iTunes.

1. Over the Air - Before you start it is advisable to sync your device to iTunes. You also need the latest version of iTunes on your device - iTunes 10.7 and you get can the latest download here. Also backup your data, nothing should go wrong but just in case. ON your device go to Settings > General > Software update. You should see iOS 6 and a download and install button below, tap it and agree to Apple's terms and conditions. Once downloaded onto your device - it will restart. Once your device comes on again, you will need to click on continue, sign-in with your Apple ID, enable location services - useful for Maps etc and your ready to go with iOS 6 on your device.

2. Update to iOS 6 via iTunes - make sure you'r using iTunes 10.7, now you can click on your device name under the Devices header on the left-hand corner. Under version tap on 'Check for update'. A pop-up will appear announcing the new iOS is ready for download and use. You can now tap the ' Download Only' button if you would download now and install later. Since it takes time to get it done and if you are in need of your phone choose only download now. If you have about an hour to space tap in the 'Download and Install' button. Once the download is complete keep your device connected until it restarts. Go through the start-up screens and then enter your Apple ID and password and you're ready to go.

Samsung Ad 'The Next Big Thing' [Video]

It seems Samsung is relentlessly pursuing Apple Fanboys -- going after the iPhone 5. just a few days ago Samsung ran a print ad called ' It doesn't take a genius'. The ad does a comparison between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy s III. Well the latest is a video called 'The next big thing is already here' - this time poking fun at the people waiting in line outside the Apple stores wiating to be the first to get their hands on the all new iPhone 5. The video cleverly shows how the Galaxy S 3 already has features that the iPhone 5 will be coming with and some features that have not yet come to the iPhone. For instance the large screen that the iPhone 5 is getting is already there on the S3, 4G LTE connectivity already available. Samsung also references the phone as 'GS3' bringing about the hip quotient. The biggest dog seems to be the guy who is waiting in line reserving a spot for his parents. This jibe at the iPhone 5 to show that the next big thing is already here and the iPhone 5 is already old before it comes out.
