The new series of changes includes:

• The Latest blog post snippet on our home page, so users can easily see if our blog has been updated recently
• The new buttons in the top-right corner of our home page
• The Home button in our blog, which redirects you to the Social Marker main page now, rather than the blog’s main page
• Added the WordPress Plugin button, as we are in the process of making our plugin official with WordPress.org
• Improved the overall performance of the site’s code
• Fixed a few display bugs that appeared in Linux

More changes to come as we manage to implement them!

Please don’t hesitate to post a comment or contact us if you have any suggestions for future changes, complaints about the current ones or you just want your opinion to be heard. Either way, we’ll be more than glad to read through them!

Changes so far include:

• Modified the basic layout of the home page (text order)
• Moved the Submit button to the bottom of the submission form
• Created a Videos page for videos on social bookmarking and how to use Social Marker; it is accessible from the bottom of the How to use it section of our home page
• Modified the image for the Social Marker All-in-one Bookmarking Button
• Rearranged the existing information on our FAQ and added some more

One of our staff members is currently trying to finish a personal project of his and has hit a bit of a snag with the advertising bit. What we are looking for is a suitable voice for a commercial we are making.

If you think you have a pleasant voice and would like to help us out, here’s how. Simply get your hands on a microphone and record the following 6 phrases:

We three see free tea.
Make Jake bake eight cakes.
James blames girls’ names.
Internet marketing is a simple science.

They will give us enough information to determine if you have the voice we are looking for. Once you’re satisfied with your recording, simply send it via the Contact page, with the title ‘Voice Recording’.

All entries must be sent in until Sunday, April 26th at midnight GMT. The results will be posted on the blog on Monday and colaboration will start as soon as possible. And just to make sure we’re on the same page, I have to specify the following: while your contribution is greatly appreciated, we will not pay for it. We have kept our service free, so we expect the same from all participants!

Right now, we are trying to reach a compromise with their staff, however, if we don’t find a solution, the service may be removed from our list for good. We are sorry for all the bugs this weekend and realize that this is not the best solution, yet it seems to be the only one at this point.

Yes, you’ve heard me right! Same concept – new ideas! We’re going to use all that we’ve learned in the past year to redesign our engine, yet keep our interface intact. That way we get to boost the site’s performance while maintaining that distinct SocialMarker feel. It’s still a bit too early to announce all the changes that will be made, but rest assured, we’ll be making them public as we move along.

However, since SocialMarker revolves around you, the users, we will urge you to leave comments for this post, mentioning what you would like us to improve. The main idea is to create a pleasant experience for everyone so we will consider each idea you bring to the table.
