INILAH.COM, Jakarta – Inggris membeberkan file rahasia departemen pertahanan yang melakukan penyelidikan tingkat tinggi, terhadap pesawat aneh berbentuk berlian di atas wilayah Scottish.

Departemen pertahanan Inggris melanggar aturan larangan penyelidikan terhadap penampakan UFO, karena bukan merupakan ancaman bagi negara. Lebih dari satu tahun, lembaga itu meluangkan waktu untuk mengungkap misteri yanag belum terpecahkan itu.

Pengungkapan itu terdapat pada laporan lebih dari seribu halaman mengenai penampakan ratusan UFO antara 1987 hingga 1993. File rahasia itu diungkapkan ke publik untuk pertama kalinya di National Archives di Kew.

Pengumuman ini berbarengan dengan makin meningkatnya laporan UFO di Inggris. Penampakan selama dua bulan awal 2009 saja, lebih banyak dari satu tahun laporan yang sudah diungkapkan.

Kebanyakan penampakan UFO ada penjelasannya. Namun untuk peristiwa Scottish masih merupakan misteri.

Menurut file itu, Dephan Inggris tahu penampakan dari laporan koran yang menyebut ada obyek dengan enam warna. UFO melayang di dekat Pitlochry pada 4 Agustus 1990 disaksikan 2 orang, salah satunya berhasil mengabadikan dengan kamera.

Saksi mengatakan benda itu melayang sekitar sepuluh menit. Pada saat itu juga terlihat pesawat militer sedang terbang rendah, sebelum UFO bergerak cepat dan menghilang dari pandangan.

Dari foto itu terlihat pesawat militer itu berjenis jet Harrier yang tidak dioperasikan di wilayah itu, pada jam itu.

Departemen Pertahanan Inggris tampaknya sudah menyiapkan strategi membela diri, jika wartawan mempertanyakan mengenai pesawat itu. Wartawan yang menanyakan hal itu hanya diberi penjelasan, belum ada kesimpulan mengenai obyek berbentuk berlian berukuran besar itu.

“Kejadian itu merupakan laporan UFO yang paling besar. Itu menunjukkan Dephan khawatir mengenai apa yang harus dikatakan dan mereka tidak tahu benda itu apa dan bagaimana pesawat Harrier itu ada di situ. Itu sungguh-sunggu misteri,” kata Dr David Clarke, pengajar jurnalistik dan pakar UFO.

File itu muncul setahun setelah foto aslinya. Dephan minta pakar untuk mengukur seberapa besar UFO itu, namun hasilnya masih dirahasiakan.

Pada 1992 rumor muncul Amerika sedang mengembangkan pesawat mata-mata baru bernama Aurora. Misteri mengenai pesawat itu mungkin menjadi bagian dari proyek itu.

INILAH.COM Jakarta- Sketsa alien dan UFO dirilis oleh Departemen Pertahanan Inggris. Sketsa itu termasuk di dalamnya obyek berbentuk pisang berwarna biru mirip manusia dengan memiliki tangan dan kaki.

Alien berbentuk pisang itu muncul di London pada 1989.

Sketsa lain dibuat oleh ibu rumah tangga berusia 65 tahun yang menunjukkan lingkaran cahaya merah yang dilihatnya pada pagi hari 21 Juni 1984.

Kebanyakan sketsa adalah penampakan pada tanggal 16 Agustus 1987. Seperti laporan seorang laki-laki di Derby yang melihat cahaya terang di angkasa pada jam 10.15 malam.

“Obyek itu bergerak perlahan sangat terang dan meninggalkan pancaran di bagian bawah, katanya.

Laki-laki yang mempelajari astronomi itu menambahkan, ia menyangka obyek itu adalah meteor. Tapi proses menghilangnya tiba-tiba, serta ukurannya sangat besar dan terang. Partikel di ekornya juga sangat berbeda dari meteor.

Seorang pelukis profesiaonal berusia 45 tahun menggambar sketsa dengan pensil setelah melihat lingkaran cahaya di dekat Rochdale, Lancashire, pada akhir Agustus 1987.

Ia mengatakan ukuran cahaya itu sangat besar dan bila berputar terdapat tiga cahaya terang di masing-masing lingkaran.

Seorang polisi juga memberikan kesaksiannya mengenai munculnya dua UFO pada Maret 1988.

Ia menerima laporan pengemudi taxi yang melihat pesawat yang berwarna silver dengan cahaya merah terang, putih dan hijau. Dia menggambar di buku catatannya saat UFO terbang di atasnya dengan mengeluarkan suara pelan.

INILAH.COM, Jakarta – Pencarian sinyal alien dimulai pada 1960 saat astronomer Frank Drake mengusulkan teleskop radio 26 meter. Meskipun berhasil menangkap beberapa sinyal, hingga kini belum terjadi komunikasi kosmik. Sinyal alien diyakini bisa ditangkap 24 tahun lagi.

Pencarian sinyal kosmik itu dilakukan oleh lembaga AS, SETI Institute dengan teleskop berukuran sangat besar. Saat ini AS telah membangun Green Bank Telescope berukuran 43 meter dan yang lebih hebat lagi adalah teleskop di Arecibo Observatory sepanjang 310 meter.

Hampir 50 tahun ilmuwan mencari kehidupan makhluk luar angkasa dengan menangkap sinyal radio. Namun komunikasi kosmik, hingga kini belum pernah berlangsung. Pencarian makhluk luar angkasa selalu sama, yaitu mengamati sinyal radio yang tidak alamiah di satu bintang. Jika tidak ditemukan, maka akan bergerak ke bintang yang lain.

Kini metode itu berubah. Allen Telescope Array, yang merupakan kerjasama SETI Institute dan University of California di Berkeley membuat mengamati bintang dapat dipelajari dalam satu kesempatan sekaligus. Selama beberapa tahun ke depan, diperkirakan lebih dari jutaan bintang bisa diperiksa apakah ada tanda kehidupan.

Selama berabad-abad strategi SETI terpaku pada aturan emas kosmik, yaitu mencari dengan cara komunikasi yang kita punyai. Satu generasi yang lalu, manusia mengirimkan sinyal TV analog "I Love Lucy" ke ruang angkasa. Kini Frank Drake memperkirakan alien juga telah melakukan transmisi secara digital, menggunakan laser dan bukan antena radio berukuran besar.

Drake yang kini presiden SETI mengatakan, perlu alat yang lebih kuat untuk mengirimkan sinyal ke luar angkasa. Hal itu bisa dilakukan oleh National Ignition Facility yang bisa memfokuskan 192 laser dan membuat pulsa seterang sinar matahari.

"Cahaya dari laser seperti itu bisa membuat pulsa cahaya yang bisa dilihat dari teleskop kecil di seluruh galaksi,” katanya.

Seth Shostak, astronomer senior SETI Institute memiliki dua teori bagaimana ET mengirimkan transmisi ke makhluk lain di jagad raya. Pertama sinyal semacam pulsa cahaya dikirim ke berbagai planet yang mungkin berpenghuni termasuk planet bumi. Sinyal yang lain lebih kecil intensitasnya dipancarkan dua arah dan memberitahu bagaimana bisa saling berkomunikasi.

Jadi dimana harus mulai mencari? Berdasarkan sejarah SETI Institute membidik planet mirip bumi yang kemungkinan ada kehidupan seperti bumi. Namun Shostak mengatakan alien mungkin mengirim sinyal intelegensia tingkat tinggi.

Drake dan Shostak membantah pencarian sinyal alien selama 50 tahun tanpa menghasilkan apa-apa. Dia mengatakan dari ribuan bintang yang sudah dipelajari, hanya sebagian kecil potensi yang sudah ditelusuri. “Kami baru mencari 5-10 kombinasi yang mungkin,” imbuhnya.

Shostak mengatakan ada bukti kehidupan di luar bumi akan ditemukan dalam 24 tahun ke depan. Baik itu akan dilakukan oleh SETI atau dengan menganalisa atmosfer exoplanet atau menggali di Mars.

Sementara Drake lebih pesimistis. "Aku tidak yakin pada 2025 ada sesuatu kecuali kita beruntung. Mungkin butuh dua kali lipatnya, mungkin 2050," katanya.

INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Perusahaan keamanan mengingatkan ada dua program Adobe yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh hacker untuk menguasai PC. Hacker secara aktif menyerang kelemahan itu, terutama pada Adobe Reader dan Acrobat versi 8 dan 9 yang digunakan untuk membuka file PDF.

Menurut Adobe, permasalahan ini bisa menyebabkan aplikasi crash dan secara potensial mengijinkan penyerang untuk mengambil alih sistem yang menjadi korban. Adobe mengkategorikan masalah itu kritis dan merekomendasikan user mengupdate antivirus mereka dan menscan dulu sebelum membuka file dari sumber tidak terpercaya.

"Adobe merencanakan akan mengeluarkan update untuk Adobe Reader dan Acrobat guna mengatasi permasalahaan ini. Adobe akan menyediakannya pada 11 Maret 2009 untuk versi 9," kata perusahaan itu. Untuk update versi 7 dan 8 keluar belakangan.

Untuk waktu sekarang, Adobe telah menghubungi vendor antivirus termasuk McAfee dan Symantec. Menurut Shadowserver Foundation, ada beberapa variasi serangan dan hanya masalah waktu saja kekurangan itu akan bisa ditembus exploit pack di internet.

"Permasalahan di Adobe Reader menyebabkan penyerang bisa menimpa memori di lokasi arbitrari," kata Geok Meng Ong dari McAfee . "Serangan itu menggunakan metode 'HeapSpray' melalui JavaScript untuk mendapat kontrol pada eksekusi program," jelasnya.

INILAH.COM, Jakarta – Pihak berwenang Singapura melarang peredaran game Mass Effect. Game produk Microsoft yang ditunggu-tunggu itu dinilai menampilkan hubungan percintaan antara manusia dengan alien, serta percintaan homoseksual.

Mass Effect merupakan game Microsoft pertama yang dilarang beredar di Singapura oleh Media Development Authority.

Game itu dimulai dengan percintaan antara dua wanita, manusia dan alien. Saat musik mulai keduanya mulai menunjukkan adegan seperti sepasang kekasih.

Australian Classifications Board memasukkan game itu dalam rangking 15+. Sedangkan British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) memberikan rating harus berumur lebih dari 12 tahun.

BBFC meloloskan game itu karena adegan lesbian sangat singkat dan tidak jelas. Versi lainnya, menunjukkan adegan itu dilakukan oleh jenis kelamin berbeda.

Percintaan tidak sesama jenis, biasanya selalu lolos sensor di Singapura.

Seperti di game God Of War menunjukkan adegan yang lebih vulgar. Sedangkan game Mass Effect kurang jelas, dan tidak interaktif.

Ketidakkonsistenan itu disebabkan politik Singapura saat ini, menyangkut percintaan sesama jenis. Pada Oktober, parlemen Singapura memutuskan larangan hubungan sesama jenis. Selain itu, PM Lee Hsien Loong juga mengatakan Singapura harus menjaga nilai konservatifnya dan tidak memberikan hak khusus pada homoseksual.

INILAH.COM, San Francisco – Sejak pertama kali mulai membangun Facebook di bangku kuliah 4,5 tahun lalu, Mark Zuckerberg berangan membangun satu terobosan bagi manusia modern.

Zuckerberg, yang masih berusia 24 tahun, berharap ia telah menemukan sebuah jalan yang berbeda sehingga ia tidak perlu memberikan permintaan maaf di depan publik seperti yang ia lakukan dua tahun lalu.

Teorinya akan menghadapi sebuah ujian besar pada Rabu (11/9) ketika perwajahan Facebook akan berubah total. Sekitar 100 juta pengguna bersiap melihat perubahan besar itu.

Upaya memoles perwajahan Facebook ini sebagai upaya mengalahkan dua pesaing terberatnya, yaitu MySpace dan Bebo.

“Sekecil apapun perubahan akan berpengaruh besar terhadap pengguna, karena situs ini adalah jalan bagaimana mereka bisa terus terhubung dengan anggota keluarga dan teman. Jadi kalau anda mengubah sesuatu yang sudah menyatu pada banyak orang, perubahan bisa saja diterima sebagai hal negatif meski itu demi kebaikan,” ujar Zuckerberg.

Ia menambahkan sekitar 40 juta pengguna Facebook sudah menyaksikan perubahan desain wajah situs jejaring sosial itu dan sekitar 30 juta pengguna memberi masukan positif.

Tapi ada juga sekelompok pengguna Facebook yang mengajukan protes atas perubahan perwajahan situs jejering sosial andalan mereka.

“Kami bukannya tidak suka dengan sebuah perubahan. Tapi kami tidak suka dengan perubahan seperti ini. Anda harus mengklik lebih dalam untuk melihat profil pribadi seseorang,” ujar mahasiswa Austin Peay University, Scott Sanders, yang tak setuju perubahan wajah Facebook.

Facebook versi facelift ini memaksa penggunanya untuk memasuki area berbeda pada situs tersebut dan menggunakan tools tambahan untuk melihat informasi profil dan foto seseorang.

“Saat ini tidak ada lagi jalan yang mulus jika anda berhadapan dengan 100 juta orang. Tidak ada lagi yang peduli saat lusinan mahasiswa dari kampus yang berbeda mengeluhkan tentang perubahan wajah sebuah situs,“ kata Zuckerberg.

Sementara itu, Sanders masih berharap untuk bisa membujuk Zuckerberg untuk kembali mendesain ulang Facebook.

“Saya tentu saja tidak bisa berhenti menggunakan Facebook begitu saja karena situs ini adalah situs jejaring sosial terbaik saat ini. Orang-orang mungkin akan memprotes perubahan ini pada awalnya. Namun mereka akan terbiasa pada akhirnya,” tutur Sanders.

I've always been fascinated about this unexplainable event that happens at the most random times. Whenever the conversation comes up, I'm always curious to hear other people's opinion about it. Personally, I have no scientific explanation, and I haven't really read too much about other scientists explanations either, but... I do have my own theory! This theory that your about to read will seem a little weird, and honestly, I don't even know if I believe it myself!

When deja vu happens, I get the sensation that I've been here, I've done this, and on that rare occurrence, it's almost like I know what's going to happen in the next few seconds. The next logical question, for me at least is, what could possibly make this happen? Is it because that event was similar to a past event? That seems to be the response for most people, but I like to delve a little deeper and think... is that point in time a scripted event, that happens at certain times of your life? Think of it like time that runs parallel, but then breaks apart. After that connection is made, does your life go down multiple paths or maybe your life goes on and doesn't connect again.

That's the best I could come up with, I suck with computer graphics, but hopefully that visualization will give you an idea. I'm not really sure where to go from here, I'm not going to make any connection with God, or even that your life could branch into thousands of different paths after the deja vu event or that our we could be living in some programmed world... that's a completely different story altogether! Abortion: Laminaria Use in Early Second Trimester Abortion (12.5 to 17 weeks)

Lamiinaria tents are made of the stems of the algae Laminaria digitate and Laminaria Japonica. Laminaria is seaweed that is mostly grown and cultivated in Korea, China, and Japan. It is written about in the Chinese literature that dates back over 1000 years. For the past 100 years Laminaria have been used in the U.S.. The standard stick is approximately 6 to 7 mm in length and 2 to 3 mm in diameter. The Laminaria sticks are individually packaged and sterilized using gamma-irradiation.

Laminaria use in Early Second Trimester Abortions (12.5 to 17 weeks) is associated with reduced maternal morbidity (complications to the mother) and mortality). Laminaria work by its hydroscopic (swelling) action by removing water from the cervix (lower womb). The Laminaria tent is associated with the synthesis and release of prostaglandins. This causes local changes to occur in the cervix that leads to the maturation (softening and dilation) of the cervix which allows for easier use of surgical dilators or shortens the induction (uterine contractions to delivery of gestational tissue) interval with the use of prostaglandins, and also reduces the amount of prostaglandins that are needed to terminate a pregnancy which in return reduces the side effects associated with the use of using prostaglandins.

Attempting to dilate the cervix with cervical dilators (serial enlarging rods) in patients in early second trimester abortions without cervical preparation or maturation (softening and opening of cervix) can lead to an increased incidence of cervical tears, cervical lacerations, damage to the cervical musculature, cervical incompetence where early miscarriages occur due to the cervix not able to hold a pregnancy, uterine (womb)perforation (hole in uterus), bowel injury, retained products of conception (pregnancy tissue remains in uterus), bleeding, or maternal death. The complication rate is reduced by 20 to 40% by using Laminaria. Laminaria tents are inserted into the patients cervix. Generally 1 to 6 are placed in patients that are in their early second trimester of pregnancy.

The Laminaria remain in the cervix from 3 to 24 hours. The earlier the length of pregnancy, the less time that is generally needed for the cervical maturation process to take place. Some patients remain in the office for the three or four hours before the surgical procedure is performed. Other patients are sent home to return the following day for the surgical procedure is to be performed. The opening and softening of the cervix can be so adequate, that serial dilators are not necessary to carry out the surgical procedure. It can be done with placement of a adequate size suction currette and when the procedure is performed under ultrasound guidance, it leads to minimal morbidity for the patient.

The complications that can occur with Laminaria tents include difficulty with removal of the tent, displacement of the tent into the vagina or the uterus, impactment (stuck inside) of the Laminaria in the cervix, breaking off of the tip ends. These complications are rare if the Laminaria are carefully placed straight inside the cervix. Other complications include cramps on insertion, and menstruation-like symptoms in approximately 8% of patients. There are a few reported cases of anaphylactic reactions after insertion, and infection. Laminaria are recommended for reduced incidence of trauma to the cervix, reduction in the time it takes to perform the surgical abortion procedure, reduction in blood loss, uterine perforation or cervical laceration when performing early second trimester abortion procedures.

Exhibiting in economically turbulent times is problematic. Yet the challenge may not lie exactly where you think it does.

It's not the falling Dow Jones that's the problem. It's not the S&P, nor the price of oil. It's not even the constant reiteration that we're headed into the Great Depression II.

No. The problem instead lies in the resultant consumer confidence crisis. People -- both on an organizational and individual level -- are afraid to buy. The constant bad news has created a perfect storm of economic turmoil, leaving people frozen in place, uncertain what to do.

How do we, as exhibitors, address that fear?

The first thing to do is to assess and understand what the changing marketplace actually means to your industry. Not all sectors are hit equally by an economic downturn, and it is never safe to assume that what is happening to your organization is representative of what is happening in the market as a whole.

Before determining an exhibiting strategy, it is a wise step to take an objective look at your industry, as well as the markets for organizations that purchase your products and services. A consumer confidence crisis means one thing in the high end apparel market, for example, that it may not mean in a health care or financial services market.

Throughout this assessment, consider the following:

Baseball is a sport played between two teams which have nine players each. The goal of the game is to score ‘runs’ against your opponent, by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching four markers called bases that are arranged at the corners of a ninety foot square, called a diamond. Players who are on the batting team will take turns to hit while the team called the fielding team will try to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any number of ways. When a batter hits the ball they run from home plate to first base and try to reach the base before the ball is either caught in the air (fly ball) or before the fielder can throw the ground ball (ball hit along the ground) to first base. If the ball reaches the first baseman before the batter, the batter is "out". If not the batter is "safe" and remains at first base until another batter hits the ball and advances the player on base to the next base (second base) or further if the player running the bases can reach the next base (third base) or even all the way back to (home base) in which case the batting team would score a run. The teams switch between batting and fielding when the batting team gets three outs. One turn at bat for each team makes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Even though a similar game was played in England as early as the mid-eighteenth century the modern version of baseball developed in The Untied States of America in the late nineteenth century, where baseball became widely recognized as the national sport. Baseball on the professional, amateur, and youth levels is still popular in North America, parts of Central and South America, the Caribbean and parts of East and Southeast Asia.

When playing baseball, each player will need some basic baseball equipment. There are a number of basic tools used to play the game. Some equipment that are necessary to play the game are: the bat, the glove, the ball, protective equipment (batting helmet, catcher's mask etc.), bases and lets not forget "the field".

The bat is offensive baseball equipment - usually made either of wood or of aluminum (aluminum bats are used in amateur leagues). It is a stick which is long and hard with an approximately two inch diameter - except at the handle, which is smaller, about one inch.

The ball is approximately the size of a fist and is usually white with red lacing (though other colors are also used). The baseball glove or mitt, is defensive baseball equipment. It is usually made of leather and is worn on the hand of the player opposite their throwing hand to help in catching the ball. To meet the need of the defensive position of the player, the glove can take different shapes and sizes.

The other basic equipment that you just can't do without is a field. This is the place where the game will be played and its dimensions vary according to the age of the players and in some cases the available space. The field, however, always has a diamond shape with bases at its corners. The first, second and third bases are 90 feet apart and are canvas bags. The base called ‘home’ is a rubber plate in the approximate shape of a house or home.

The area of the field that is closest to the bases is referred to as the infield and the area behind and most distant from the bases are referred to as the outfield. The outfields (there are three) are named "right field", "left field", and "center field".

Other baseball equipment used includes, a batting helmet, baseball cap, catcher’s helmet and other protective gear (like a chest protector and safety mask). The batting helmet protects the head and the ear of the batter that faces the pitcher, from the thrown ball. The baseball cap is worn by all players to shade their eyes from the sun. Catcher’s helmets are protective equipment that guards the face of the catcher using a face guard or mask. Good care needs to be taken of this equipment- as without them, the game will not continue.

The highest level of play in North America is professional or major league baseball. Major League Baseball refers to the organization that operates the National and American Leagues, by means of a joint structure that has developed gradually between them since 1903 (the National has existed since 1876). In 2000, the two leagues were officially disbanded as separate entities and consolidated in the commissioner's office. Major League Baseball (MLB) effectively operates as a single league and as such constitutes one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States. It is currently composed of 30 teams 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada.

Each season consists of 162 games (with an additional game, or games, in case of a tie breaker needed to determine playoff spots). The season generally begins on the first Sunday in April and ends on the first Sunday in October, with the playoffs played in October and sometimes into November. The rules of play between the two leagues are the same with one exception: the American League operates under the Designated Hitter Rule, while the National League does not. Utilization of the DH Rule in inter league play, the All-Star and World Series games is determined by the home team's league rules.

In MLB the overall champion is decided in a series of best of seven games between the winner of the National Conference playoffs and the American League Conference winner. The series of games is called "The World Series" and is one of the best known sporting events on Earth.

Baseball, although perhaps not as popular as it once was, is still one of the most played games on the planet with fans that number in the multiple millions.
