Naturally, “American Idol” producers could not resist exploiting the sad plight of 16-year-old contestant Symone Black, who took a header off the front of the state on last night’s episode. Bad enough that they used the incident as a depressing cliffhanger to close out “American Idol” last night. Even worse that they lingered over it for far too long on the follow-up Hollywood week part two episode.

Just in case you somehow missed it, Symone Black is perfectly okay after her “American Idol” fall off the stage. She was hurried off to the hospital and told she was dehydrated. Not getting enough liquids and nutrition, plus lack of sleep and incredibly hot spotlights, is a great combination for anyone looking to take a fainting nosedive off a stage. Luckily for Black, her pretty little rendition of Otis Redding‘s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” before she passed out got her through to the next round.

Then, instead of actually saving any time at all on the show to hear at least a few group auditions, viewers just had to watch a whole lot of other contestants puking, whining and complaining about feeling like crap. Which really does suck, don’t get me wrong. This is not “Fear Factor,” however, and I don’t tune in to “American Idol” to watch someone hunched over and about to hurl into a trash can.

For the rest of the “American Idol” season 11 episode, there was the usual scramble for a handful of outcasts to find a group. A whole lot of bitching about groups not meshing and people bailing when they should have stuck it out. More sick people. One sick girl with a plastic bag in her lap in case she hurled in the middle of rehearsing. Usually during this whole process, there are a few cool people who stand out as not being douche bags that get you through. This time around, pretty much everyone seemed either pathetic or lame. Not much to root for there.

Finally, after all this vapid running around and medical madness, the first group went to take the stage. Very un-originally named “the Bettys” stepped up to sing their little hearts out and… cut. That’s it. No soup for you. A whole night of watching puke and pointless posturing and no actual real singing.

If it weren’t for the whole mystery of what insane string of randomness interspersed with cuss-words is going to emerge from Steven Tyler‘s mouth next, I might just have to tell “American Idol” that I have become strong enough to quit you. Then again, I might miss Jennifer Lopez having another fiery laser eye battle with the stage crew over her missing black tights. Oh no!

The first round of American Idol season 11 Hollywood week ended on a seriously dramatic turn last night when teen singer Symone Black took a header off the stage following her performance.

Black had just finished a relatively decent rendition of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” right before the fall and was receiving her critique from the judges. Judge Randy Jackson asked why she chose the Otis Redding song, to which she replied: “I wanted to reach out to an older crowd, an older audience.”

Smiling along with the other judges, Randy Jackson teased Symone Black for her answer, asking: “Are you saying that we’re older?” The teenager slowly slurred out a “No” while she staggered toward the front of the stage. As Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez watched in horror, Symone Black fell right off the tall stage and crashed onto the floor below. In the American Idol Hollywood week fall video, it looks like Symone Black fainted as she tumbled off the stage. One of the cameramen attempted to dive and catch her, but only ended up knocking a camera onto himself.

As Lythgoe and other American Idol staff rushed to help Black, who was stretched out with a blank stare on the ground, the judges watched the drama unfold in shock. Steven Tyler, his mouth agape, could be heard saying quietly: “F*** man, she hit her head.”

American Idol fans will have to wait until tonight to find out the fate of fallen hopeful Symone Black. According to Lythgoe, Black wasn’t the only one to suffer physically from the stress of Hollywood week. “Hollywood #AmericanIdol week is so tough,” Lythgoe posted on his Twitter feed last night, “5 contestants collapsed with one falling dramatically from the stage. It was extremely frightening.”

The Princess Diana movie, from Britain’s Ecosse Films, will focus on the two years before the beloved Princess of Wales died at 36 in a horrific car accident. The film charts Princess Diana’s search for “true personal happiness for the first time” while continuing to be “a major international campaigner and humanitarian” in the final years before her death.

“It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role — Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen,” Watts said in a statement.

“Caught in Flight” director Oliver Hirshbiegel said he believes Naomi Watts has the acting chops to truly bring across “the warmth, humanity, and empathy of such a global icon as Princess Diana.”

The Princess Diana movie, “Caught in Flight,” will reportedly begin filming this summer.

Exton Elias Downey was born at 7:24 a.m. on Tuesday in Los Angeles and weighed in at 7lbs., 5oz. A friend of the couple reportedly told People.com that “everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier.”

The sex of Robert Downey Jr.’s baby was already previous announced by the actor during an interview with Jay Leno. Despite being told he was “not permitted to discuss” the sex of the baby by his wife, the Sherlock Holmes star blurted out that the couple was expecting a boy.

“I could never really stay mad at him, but I can tell you it genuinely wasn’t something we planned to reveal,” Downey Jr.’s wife, who is a Hollywood film producer, later said when asked about the announcement.

Robert Downey Jr. did manage to keep the baby boy’s name a secret until the official birth announcement. Back during his appearance on Jay Leno, the actor said if he revealed the name early, his wife “would lop off my head with a machete.”

Speaking to Metro US this week, fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld blatantly insulted the chart-topping singer/songwriter by calling out her curvy figure. “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat,” Lagerfeld said, “but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”

In typical fashion mogul style, Karl Lagerfeld much prefers the stick-figure of Saturday Night Live parodied singer Lana Del Rey. “[She] is not bad at all,” Lagerfeld told Metro US. “She looks very much like a modern-time singer. “In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.”

I kind of actually feel bad at this point for Lana Del Rey, despite her flat performance on Saturday Night Live and subsequent mocking by the SNL cast and fans. First she is compared to the worst prior SNL musical performers ever, then Karl Lagerfeld calls her an ‘implant construct’ person. That poor girl just can’t win.

Honestly though, coming from a man who looks like Skeletor, any kind of insult about someone’s appearance is rather hysterical. Karl Lagerfeld may be a fashion guru, but his appreciation of true beauty is obviously severely limited.

As for Adele, she told British Vogue last year that she doesn’t stress about her weight, even if she does have “insecurities” like anyone else. “I enjoy being me. I always have,” Adele told the magazine. “I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, you know, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs and how it wears them down. And I just don’t want that in my life.”

Adam Lambert shows his displeasure with Prop 8 as part of the NO H8 campaign

The California Supreme Court struck down a previous state-wide gay marriage ban in 2008. Gay marriage was legalized in the state, but those marriages were stopped after the state’s high court upheld Proposition 8 six months later as an acceptable amendment to the California constitution.

The federal appeals panel Prop 8 ruling upholds a decision by former Judge R. Vaughn Walker in 2010, who wrote in his decision that Proposition 8 “fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license.” After retiring, Judge Walker later revealed he was gay and in a long-term, committed relationship, which prompted Prop 8 supporters to accuse him of bias in his ruling.

The three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 to declare the Proposition 8 gay marriage ban unconstitutional, stating that it “served no purpose, and had no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationship and families as inferior to those of opposite sex couples.” According to the Prop 8 decision, the voter’s initiative violated the 15th Amendment’s guarantee of equal protection under the law.

Supporters of gay marriage equality cheered the Prop 8 ruling outside the courthouse in San Francisco when the decision was announced. However, same-sex marriages in California will not likely resume any time soon as the appeals process could stretch out for another year, or longer. Six states across the U.S. currently issue same-sex marriage licenses — Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. The District of Columbia also recognizes gay marriages.

Same-Sex marriage opponents are already making plans to appeal the Prop 8 ruling. The case could be appealed to the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit or moved directly to the Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme Court has never made a ruling regarding same-sex marriage.

Mimi Alford, who is now a 69-year-old grandmother, claims in the book that the JFK affair began when she was a 19-year-old White House intern. In Once Upon a Secret, Alford says that she met was invited by the president’s “first friend” Dave Powers to an after-work party at the White House. After consuming several drinks, Alford was invited on a personal tour by President John. F. Kennedy. The tour ended up in First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s bedroom.

“I noticed he was moving closer and closer,” Alford writes in her memoir. “I could feel his breath on my neck. He put his hand on my shoulder.” Alford’s description of her first alleged sexual encounter with JFK is fairly steamy.

“Slowly, he unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts.

“Then he reached up between my legs and started to pull off my underwear.   “I finished unbuttoning my shirtdress and let it fall off my shoulders.”

Alford said she lost her virginity to John F. Kennedy that day in his wife Jackie Kennedy’s bedroom. “After he finished, he hitched up his pants and smiled at me,” while pointing her to the bathroom. “I was in shock,” she writes. “He, on the other hand was matter-of-fact, and acted as if what had happened was the most natural thing in the world.” Kennedy allegedly asked her if she was hungry and called a car to pick her up and take her home.

According to Mimi Alford, the JFK affair lasted for 18 months, although they never revisited his wife’s bedroom. She always called him “Mr. President” and says they never kissed when they made love. Alford said she never felt guilty about the affair. Alford also claims that President Kennedy once asked her in a dare to give oral sex to his friend Dave Powers and she complied, while JFK watched. Alford claims Kennedy later apologized to both of them over the incident.

Alford says she last saw Kennedy shortly before she was about to be married to her college sweetheart, Tony Fahnestock. Alford and JFK allegedly met briefly in a hotel in Manhattan just seven days before he was assassinated. She claims he told her he was sad she would not going be going to Texas with him and that he would call her when he got back, despite knowing she was about to be married.

Halfway through the insane, over-the-top Madonna halftime show, M.I.A. apparently decided she was just not getting enough of the worship fest going on. So, the “Paper Planes” singer raised her middle finger in a rude gesture and  rapped out “I don’t give a s**t*” at the cameras. NFL censors tried to blur out the obscene middle finger salute, but they didn’t quite get the timing right. So, 100 million fans watching the Super Bowl halftime show were gifted with a f**k you from M.I.A.

M.I.A.’s middle finger flip-off will now go down in history as yet another example of performers using their body parts to get attention in a negative way. Now, while we don’t think M.I.A.’s middle finger salute is quite as offensive as Janet Jackson’s bare breast hanging out, it was still a just as much of a pointless display and juvenile cry for attention.

We’re sure her child will be so very proud of Mom.

The NFL and NBC have both now apologize over the incident, although both entities seem to be trying to blame the other for the middle finger malfunction.

“There was a failure in NBC’s delay system,” NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy said in a press statement. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, every disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.”

NBC, however, is taking the NFL to task because they “hired the talent and produced the halftime show.” A spokesman for the network said in a press statement that the “system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our views.”

So far, M.I.A.’s representatives have not commented on the middle finger malfunction incident during the Madonna Super Bowl halftime show. A source allegedly close to the hip-hop star, however, reportedly claims it was all a mistake. “She wasn’t thinking,” the source said, according to the Daily Mail. “It wasn’t any kind of statement… She was caught in the moment and she’s incredibly sorry.”

The terrible Josh Powell explosion took place only moments after a social worker had dropped off his two sons with Susan Powell for a supervised visit. Powell let the boys into the house, but then shut and locked the door, leaving the social worker outside. Just minutes later, the social worker smelled gas and the home exploded into flames.

“I think this was a last-ditch effort on his part to hurt everyone around him and escape all of the problems,” Susan Powell’s brother, Kirk Graves, told People. “Regardless of the impact on the boys, he just wanted to hurt everybody else.”

According to Susan Powell’s family and police authorities, the missing woman’s two sons had started to share more information in recent months. Charlie, 7, and Braden, 5, had reportedly been more talkative about Susan Powell’s disappearance. According to Graves, Charlie Powell  recently said his mother was “in the trunk” on the night when she went missing. Josh Powell allegedly took his sons camping that night and claimed he had no involvement in his wife’s vanishing.

“They were beginning to verbalize more,” attorney Steve Downing, who represents Susan Powell’s family, said today. “The oldest boy talked about that they went camping and that mommy was in the trunk. Mom and dad got out of the car and mom disappeared.”

Before his death, Josh Powell was the only person of interest in wife Susan Powell’s disappearance in 2009. He was never charged with any crime related to her vanishing. However, his father, Steven Powell was arrested on child porn charges last year. Josh Powell lost custody of his sons in relation to that arrest after police allegedly found images on his computer that were ‘concerning’ in regard to his children’s welfare.

“I have a very addictive personality,” the 22-year-old actor told Heat magazine. “It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily – I mean nightly.”

“I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes,” Radcliffe said. Well, we hate to admit it, but there were some times when Harry Potter did seem a little wasted… we just thought it was too much butter beer.

Daniel Radcliffe said he has learned from the experience and no longer drinks alcohol. “You either have to change something,” he told the magazine, “or give into that shame.” Radcliffe is currently on a promotional tour in support of his new horror film, Woman in Black, which opened on Friday.

The Harry Potter star isn’t the only celebrity to come forward recently to admit they were drunk on the job. Pat Sajak confessed in a recent interview that he and Wheel of Fortune letter turner Vanna White used to get drunk before doing the show.

“Vanna and I would … have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet,” he says. “I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did okay.”
