Some of us just are not happy with one clock in our Windows. Why is this? Well, most of us have family in different parts of the world. For this reason, we need to know what time it is at their place so if we were to call, we would know if the time was appropriate or not. Another reason may be you want to know what time it is in an area where you are planning on doing business in the near future. Another trend has arisen as well and that is to have multiple clocks in case you are tracking sports matches that are taking place across different parts in the world, for example, have it set according to England so you know what time football is going to start etc. Whatever the reason may be, we are not interested. All we know is that we need to address this issue for many people, so here you all are.

Go to the System Tray (the area where your clock is, on the bottom right-hand side of your screen). Right-click on the Tray and choose the option that says “Adjust Date/Time”.

This will open up the “Date and Time” window. Here you can change the preferences and settings for your date and time. Click on the tab, “Additional Clocks”. The time zones will need to be set so we recommend that get that out of the way. Enter the display name for the clock as well so it can be shown with that name.

After you’re done setting our clocks up, hit “OK”. Move your mouse over to the System Tray again but don’t click on anything, just hover it over there. The additional clocks you set up can be seen there.

Now, with a few simple steps, you can very easily restore the Recycle Bin icon using the built-in feature of Windows 7 / Vista. How To Remove Useless Items From Right-Click Context Menu By Hacking Registry

There have been instances with me, and I’m sure with everyone else too, when you install applications like an anti-virus, WinZip or other such apps that end up adding some items into the context menu when you right-click on a folder or a file. Excluding Windows Vista, these applications and programs install something known as a shell extension to add apps in the context menu. If you delete these extensions from the Registry, then you will not get these additional items in your menu.

A right-click context menu is shown in the image below. You can see there are several additional items in the menu like Scan with ESET NOD32, SmartFTP and so on and so forth. In this tutorial, I will show you how to remove these unnecessary items by removing SmartFTP from the menu.

Just a reminder, we recommend that you make a backup of your registry in case you remove a folder by mistake. The back will help you to restore the deleted file.

Remove Item from Context Menu of Files

Go to the start menu and type in the following in the search bar: regedit. Hit Enter to send the command. This will open up your Registry (shown below). You are looking for the following folder: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContexMenuHandlers.

To remove this, you want to start by making a backup of SmartFTP by right-clicking selecting the Export option. The registry needs to be saved in a safe place to make sure you do this. Deleting the folder is a lot easier once you complete the backup.

This will remove the SmartFTP item from the context menu of every file in your computer.

Remove Item from Context Menu of Folders

Again, open the registry. Navigate to the following: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\contextmenuhandlers

Delete the SmartFTP folder the same way you did before when you deleted it from files. Again, you will see the SmartFTP option removed from every context menu in each file and folder in your computer.

How To Permanently Delete Windows Files With RightDelete

Deleting files from your computer is not as straight forward as it may seem at first. When you delete a file from your computer, it is not completely deleted. You may think that you totally emptied out your recycle bin but these deleted files can be recovered using different recovery tools and we are sure pro’s are aware of these different techniques. If you are looking to delete a file permanently from your Windows, then you will need to be sure that it has been deleted completely.

There is a tool to ensure this is done properly and the name of this tool is RightDelete. This neat little tool allows users to permanently delete any file of your choice from your computer system securely, which means that it will not be able to be recovered later in the future. This program is very simply yet very, very powerful. It is a secure method of file deletion. The publisher says:

“RightDelete uses the seven pass method, i.e. overwriting the content with $00, $ff, $00, $ff, $00, $ff, random (256), before the file is actually deleted and buffers blushed. This will ensure this file is no longer recoverable SO be sure you want to delete the file selected!”

After you have downloaded the software, unzip it and run the Rightdelete.exe file you see. It will ask you if you want to add RightDelete to the context menu, on this prompt, click “OK”. Now, to put it into use, you want to right-click on any file you want to delete. Select the “Securely Delete This File”.

After you choose the aforementioned option, it will again as you for confirmation because once you move on, you cannot undo your action. Click “OK” to continue.

That is all you have to do to permanently get rid of a file from your system. The file will no longer be recoverable. It is compatible with different versions of the Windows OS including Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. However, Mac OS and Linux are still not supported.

How To Open Elevated Command Prompt With Administrator Privileges In Windows 7 / Vista

Windows 7 and Windows Vista both come with a security feature that offers User Access Control (UAC). This means that processes are launched in a restricted mode until and unless users accept the elevation confirmation. An example is running a regvr32.exe command. This is used to register DLL/ActiveX, opening up a batch file or a script that requires administrative privileges. All three of these require you to open an Elevated Command Prompt (ECP). ECP runs under these sort of privileges so users need to try and launch a command prompt that have fill rights to admin-ship and permission. Here are three ways users can do this.

Method 1:

Navigate to the “Start” menu and then go to “All Programs”. In this list, there will be a shortcut for the “Command Prompt”.

Don’t click on it just yet. Right-click on it and choose “Run as administrator”.

Method 2:

Go to the “Start” menu.

Type “cmd” in the search bar.

Now, press “Ctrl+Shift” and click on the “cmd” shortcut icon that will be present in the “Start” menu. To trigger the elevation of the command prompt, press the following combination of shortcuts “Ctrl+Shift+Enter”. This will automatically “Run as administrator”.

Press “Alt+C” from your keyboard or hit “Continue” to confirm the elevation. Once you do this, the privileged command prompt will show up.

Method 3:

We start this method by creating a shortcut on the desktop for “CMD.EXE”.

To run this shortcut with the administrator setting by default, right-click on it and choose “Properties”.

Once you are here, go to the “Shortcut” tab and hit “Advanced”.

There will be an option here that says “Run as administrator”. That is the box you want to check. Click on “OK” and then click on it again on the following window.

How To Open Docx File In Firefox Using OpenXML Add-On

In order for us to get into the detail about this process, it is important that we define a few important terms that can be seen in the title of the article. First off, we have a Docx File. What is a docx file? Well, we all have used Microsoft Office Word 2007, or at least some version of this MS Office tool. When you save your file, you have probably come across the format of the file you are saving. This format is ‘.docx’ format. Word 2007 saves its file in this format and it replaces the preceding .doc format that we used to get with older versions of the software. If you are using older versions of MS Word, then you can open a.docx file with Microsoft Compatibility Pack.

The second term we want to briefly describe is OpenXML. This is a specific file format that was developed by software giants, Microsoft, and it was based on a zipped and XML-based format. It was and is used to represent charts, word processing files, presentations and spreadsheets. It has been standardized so there nothing to worry about.

But now, you don’t have to worry about opening Docx files with MS Word 2007 anymore because you can now use your own Firefox extension, or add-on. Thanks to the OpenXML Viewer add-on, Firefox has become a lot faster in opening this format of files. OpenXML will let you open up any .docx file inside Firefox, just like any typical HTML webpage allows you to. The one strong point regarding this add-on is that neither does it change the format of the text and neither does it play around with the layout of the document.

Go to the provided link and download the zip file that is mentioned on the page. Once you download it, open the zip file up and look through the different files that are there. You want to choose the one that says OpenXMLViewer_win_firefox.xpi. Open this file using Firefox.
