2009 SJMBC Sock Hop

Come join us at the 2009 St John Missionary Baptist Church  2nd Annual Sock Hop Party will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 7 PM - 11 PM.

A sock hop is a dance that first became popular in the 1950s, when the term was incidentally coined.  Since dances were often held in school gymnasiums, dancers would often kick of their shoes and dance in socks or stockings so as to avoid marking up gym floors, and to get better slide in dances like the Twist, the Mashed Potato and others.  Dances held might simply be referred to as sock hops, since the practice was so common.

Break out your poodle skirts, penny loafers, and other 50’s clothes! It will be a fun time!!! The cost of this event is $10.00 for one person and $15.00 for two persons.

Bishop Bobby L. McCarter is currently the pastor of Charity Mission/Fairview Full Gospel Baptist Church in Crawford Mississippi, two of the fastest growing and most successful churches in Mississippi. He has been pastoring for the last twenty-five years. Bishop Bobby L. McCarter began pastoring Charity Mission Missionary Baptist Church in 1981, with approximately 35 members. The church began experiencing phenomenal growth in membership and more importantly in spiritual matters, as a result of the dynamic life changing word of God that was brought forth. Bishop McCarter began fulfilling part of his mandate from God by transitioning the church out of the bondage of tradition into the fullness of God. Salvation, healing (e.g., tumors, and final stage cancers), deliverance, and the casting out of demons occurred frequently. He is a proven God sent anointed leader for this New Millennium. Under his divine leadership he has grown from a 35 member church to over 1400 members.
In the season and timing of God the church became an official member of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship under the leadership of International Presiding Bishop, Paul S. Morton, Sr. In January of 1994, the church changed its official name to Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church (FGBC). In the same year the church moved into over a half a million-dollar sanctuary. The ministry’s membership doubles the town of Crawford’s population, with the church being the largest structure in town. Currently the church is housed on a 54-acre lot called Charity Village. Also housed is Jackson Theological Seminary facilitated by Dr. Bobby L. McCarter, and a newly structured Family Life Recreational Center. There are 30 in-house ministries, while membership totals over 1,700 and is rapidly increasing.

In May 1997, he graduated from Memphis Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Arts Degree in Theology. He continued his education at Jacksonville Theological Seminary where he received his Masters in Theology, he continued on to pursue his Doctorate of Ministry in Theology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.

Bishop McCarter is consistently trying to reach a lost and dying world for Christ. His heart for soul has allowed him to travel to different states and countries spreading the Gospel. He is anointed and appointed in bringing God’s people out of tradition and bondage that keep them from reaching their greatest potential for the kingdom work. Bishop McCarter has a humble spirit with a vision for “Taking the Kingdom Ministry”.

Charity Mission FGBC is know throughout the United States as an “Oasis in the Desert” because of its location and the magnitude of its impact in the communities.
