sigur rós to play bestival festival in september

after a break of over three years, sigur rós are going to be touring again in 2012.

this morning we’re delighted to announce that on the 9th of september, sigur rós will play at bestival festival on the isle of wight in england. it’ll be their only show in the uk in 2012. information about the festival and tickets are available via our tour page.

credo in canada

credo, by kjartan, will receive its canadian premiere on the 1st of february at the “new music festival” that takes places in winnipeg.

the piece will be performed by the winnipeg symphony orchestra as part of the festivals “icelandia” night, along with pieces by nico muhly, daníel bjarnason, valgeir sigurðsson.

tickets for the event are available now direct from the winnipeg symphony orchestra or from ticketmaster canada.

for those going to the “icelandia” event, there will be a pre-concert q+a with muhly, bjarnason & sigurðsson as well as a performance of three sigur rós songs; “von”, “hoppípolla” and “andvari” by brandon university new music ensemble. information on that event is available here.

ljóspappír fan art competition

included in the limited special edition of inni was a pack of light sensitive paper sheets (ljóspappír). in the ljóspappír competition we would like to invite fans who have purchased the special edition to upload and share their experimentations with this paper for the rest of us to see. the public can vote on all submissions and the top images will be submitted to the band, who will pick the winner. the winner will have their design used in a piece of sigur rós 2012 merchandise, as well as a 100,000 icelandic krónur (apx. £500 / $800) prize.

the questions and answers session that took place after the london screening of “inni” on the 3rd of november is now available to watch – thanks to the british film insitute / bfi live for the footage.

at the screening of “inni” at the british film institute next week in london (on november the 3rd) all four members of sigur rós and the director vincent morisset will be in attendance. after the screening there will be a questions and answers session moderated by the bbc’s colin murray. this event is sold out.

the following day, november 4th, rough trade east record shop will have a screening of “inni” at 6.30pm. admittance to this screening is by wristband only – which will be available from 8am on the 4th from the rough trade east record shop. full information of the event is available here.

we’re pleased to announce that we’ve now hit a total of more than 100 screenings of inni taking place around the world over the rest of the year. we’ve sold out screenings in london, paris and new york, which will lead to more announcements soon.
