SideDoor’s The Rock program will be hosting their first skate competition of the year, Extreme Skate Trick Competition.

The competition is open to all ages and will be held in the Short Brown Aerna in the Multiplex. The event will be held on June 27 and will start at 1pm.

As well as have the local skate talent being there, there will as be live local bands preforming.

In celebration of Yellowknife’s 75th anniversary the SideDoor will be hosting a dance for the youth at the DND Gym in the Multiplex. The Dance will be help on June 26, 2009 from 7pm to 11pm

The SideDoor will be holding a Guitar Here Challenge on May 29, starting at 7pm.

The entry is $5.00 and is open to all ages. There will be $500 in cash and prizes to be won.

From time to time I will post up these posts to let everyone one what is happening here on the website.

My hope is that this site becomes very interactive not only with the members of the community but for the youth as well. A place where they can come and ask questions and get guidance when they can not make it down to the SideDoor or we are closed.

Recent Updates:

1. Well obviously the whole layout is new and very user friendly.
2. We have added a couple new supporters to the Supporters page as well as the header banner. Please browse through their websites.
3. Calender Events. Over on the Events page I have started adding some of the programs we offer here at the SideDoor. Senior SideDoor for our older youth and is offered 4 nights a week starting at 7pm and Junior SideDoor is offered Monday through Friday, please check the calender for times. Also take note that the Living Room program wont be on the calender but is offered EVERY NIGHT starting at 10pm for youth 16-19.
4. I have also added a Favicon which is the little SD image you see by the address bar or in this tab.

Updates I want to get to:

1. Adding a flickr widget to the homepage with all SideDoor pictures, for everyone to see.
2. Monthly online Newsletter with news and updates of whats going on inside and outside of the SideDoor.
3. Update the donate button so it works properly.
4. Get all the special events into the Calender, such as Mustaches for Kids and Spring Break Program.
5. Convince Spencer to write Blog posts of the “happings” of the SideDoor.
6. and more of course.
