Just a short walk away from the O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in Lamington National Park, that spot at the Moran Falls gives you wonderful views of the valley below. It is a great location for sunset as the warm light shines on the flowing water. Just make sure you have a torch light to hike back when it gets dark!

Shot on Leica M10 and Voigtlander 15mm.

When you have dramatic clouds around sunset time, you already know you got a decent photo. If you’re lucky enough to be on the beach by low tide too, you can use that nice reflection for a really cool one!

I shot this handheld (without tripod) with my Leica M10 and a Voigtländer 15mm lens at ISO 3200. I’m impressed at how sharp this came out to be!

An “old” photo taken exactly 2 years ago in the Canadian Rockies on a cold but beautiful winter day. I was just driving in the other direction when I noticed in the scene in the back mirror and had to stop to take to take a photo.

I love this view of the mountain lit by a soft side light, some of which managing to pierce through the trees, leaving streaks of light on the floor in front of me.

I used my Leica M Monochrom with a 50mm and I love the result. It’s a mix of subtlety in the shadows without burning the highlights and intense sharpness bringing out the angular details of the mountain. More importantly, it makes you feel you are there (when viewed in full screen and with the full resolution file…) Incidentally, it’s also the evidence not all landscape photos need to be taken with a wide angle lens

I love it when I can rediscover a photo taken several years before and I am able to reprocess it in a completely different way, not to mention the fact that I’ve sharpened my skills and the tools have become much more powerful now!

This was taken in Yakushima, Japan 3 years ago. I loved the place for its incredible atmosphere but I felt I wasn’t able to do it justice with the previous version. Hopefully, this is closer to how I felt then.

For those who are curious, I’ve uploaded the unprocessed photo in the comments. Taking the photo is only the first part and gives you the canvas. The post-processing part is needed to give the photo some character! Don’t let algorithms of a camera maker decide what your photo should look like!

Yakushima Magic

I love to visit NY city. There’s always something to do or to look at. I didn’t much time to take photos lately but I was lucky enough to be in Manhattan recently, close enough to the “Manhattanhenge” dates, when the setting sun aligns with the streets of NY.

I took this photo on 42nd street, just next to Grand Central Terminal, another iconic location of NYC.

On another note, my back has been thanking me for traveling light, carrying only my Leica M10 camera and a few small lenses. This is a huge improvement compared to the heavy backpack I used to stuff with massive lenses! Besides the dynamic range of the sensor is fantastic so I don’t have to spend time using ND filters or blending exposures in post-processing

Sorry if posts have been scarce for the past few months. I’ve been pretty busy and didn’t have a chance to travel much for photography. Hopefully things will settle a bit soon and give me more time to shoot.
