I know I haven’t been working on the revised art pages the way I’ve wanted to. I’m not so sure how Shimmer will progress in the future given I’m back to working full-time away from home. I wonder if that window of opportunity has passed, but you can never tell when I’ll get the itch to progress with the remake again. So I won’t say never.

I did want to post to say that 8 years ago today I first released Shimmer public. Much as it is today, Shimmer was an experimental project that I actually was using to practice art, layout and color in a comic style. Now that Wayrift has gone full color, I get plenty of practice. But that doesn’t mean I want to leave Shimmer by the wayside forever.

Just too many projects. Too little time.

Ah, well. Happy birthday Shimmer!

Shimmer Domain Change!

I mentioned a while back on a Tumblr post that the renewal of the Shimmer domain was coming back around. I’ve decided not to renew shimmermanga.com (for a variety of reasons), which means that the domain is scheduled to go inactive after Thursday, January 19th.

Does this mean I’m quitting with Shimmer? No! Absolutely not. I know I’ve been slow in getting back to the revamp, but I’m certainly not shutting down this part of the site.

Instead, Shimmer is going to become a sub-domain of Sygnus.org. For now, Shimmermanga.com still redirects to this site. However, once it expires, you will find Shimmer located here: http://www.sygnus.org/shimmer

I’ll be updating links and bookmarks around the network to reflect this change soon.

Revamp Chapter 5 Page 4

The newest revamp page, Chapter 5, Page 4, has been posted today.

I’m not happy with the linework on this page at all. Compared to the previous pages, it’s far too thick and not very smooth. Part of this is because I was learning how to use Painter for inking and should have used a much higher DPI and base size. I understand that now and won’t make the same mistakes again. I put too much struggle and work into inking this page, so I decided just to finish it and chalk it up to a learning experience. : <

However! Thanks to everyone who joined me on the LiveStreams. I hope future pages will be easier to complete!

Thanks a million to everyone who turned out for our Shimmer LiveStream today! This page, Chapter 4 Page 8, and the next are the results of the time spent streaming this week. I feel quite productive, and it was lots of fun to see everyone!

I’m happy to say that I’m posting the final pages of Chapter 4 this weekend.. and will be moving into Chapter 5 very shortly! Again, thanks to everyone for support and fun in the streams. Hopefully if I can keep up this kind of work, I’ll get the revamps done soon and move on to new content!

Chapter 4, Page 7 Revamp

Thanks to the folks visiting the LiveStream, I managed to get another revamp page done – Chapter 4, Page 7! Some minor changes to the images and layout… I also cut the “Lunar” language and simply used brackets to signify a translation. Smoothed out some of the text and it’s a done day. Enjoy!

Getting closer to finishing this chapter, one page at a time. ^^;
