Shindanmaker is a joke web service which diagnoses you by your inputting your name.
Although “Shindan” originally means “diagnosis”, sometimes the meaning of “fortune-telling” is also used. You can enjoy Shindan made by other users and you can also make them.

What is ShindanMaker
It is a website that allows any person to easily create a [comical diagnosis/horoscope] for their own person by simply entering their name. (The original meaning of the word [SHINDAN] as used on this website is that of diagnosis, but it is also used to mean [horoscope]). You can create a maximum of 1024 patterns for diagnosis results by combining a maximum of 256 ＊ 10 types of items. Shindanmaker is a registered trademark.

How diagnosis results are determined
Shindanmaker works by randomly allocating results in accordance with the [name that was entered]. In other words, it is similar to drawing omikuji (written fortunes). It should be treated as a [caricature diagnosis].

Why are the diagnosis results different depending whether upper case or lower case characters are used?
Diagnosis results are allocated based on the characters used in the name that was entered, and since upper case and lower case letters in the alphabet are recognized as separate letters, the results will also differ.

How many persons have been diagnosed?
The number of [persons which have been diagnosed], which also influences each ranking, is not counted as the number of times a diagnosis is made. Rather, it is counted with several items of information used for such diagnosis. Accordingly, the number of persons which is diagnosed stays the same no matter how many times the same diagnosis is executed. (The number of persons which have been diagnosed is displayed on each page and updated every few minutes. Please note that at times this number does not change immediately.)

Things to remember when creating a diagnosis (Guidelines)
To make this website fun to use and available to a larger number of users, the following guidelines have been set in place regarding creating a diagnosis. These guidelines are displayed on the diagnosis creation window as Terms of Use. Please observe the following guidelines:

No vulgar (pornographic language or images), abusive, offensive or racist content
No content which insults or vilifies individuals, groups or organizations
No content which makes no sense such as garbled characters, symbols
No links to adult websites or websites with offensive content
No content which may offend other browsing users.

If you happen to come across a diagnosis which does not observe these guidelines and uses prohibited content, please report this abuse by clicking the link displayed at the bottom of each diagnosis result page [Report problems about this diagnosis]. Depending on the reported content and the number of such reports, the diagnosis may be deleted.

Some set violent or vulgar words may be replaced by symbol ●/* in the diagnosis results. Such NG words may be frequently updated however, we would like to refrain from making such contents public.

Remember to check Twitter Terms of Use when tweeting the diagnosis results displayed on this website using Twitter. Please be aware that irrespective of the content of the diagnosis result, all responsibility for any statements on Twitter lies with the user and not with this website.

How to alter or delete a diagnosis
A diagnosis which was created in a logged-in state can be altered or deleted. However, a diagnosis which was created without being logged in cannot be later altered or deleted. (Please be aware that even if you contact our offices, we cannot assist you since there is really no way to prove you are the real author of that diagnosis). If you accidentally created a diagnosis with contents which do not observe the guidelines, please use the [Problem report function] displayed on each diagnosis result page.

Stop displaying tweets sent from ShindanMaker using Twitter time line or search
Please be aware that this website cannot handle tweets on the Twitter time line. We apologize for the inconvenience. * Some Twitter client applications allow for selecting an NG word filter function which does not display specific terms, and if [shindanmaker.com] is set as an NG word, the tweet will not be displayed in the time line. (some clients can filter URLs which are abbreviated to bit.ly or the like). Tweets from Shindanmaker can be excluded from search by entering [-shindanmaker.com] in Twitter search box at the time of search.

[Everyone’s diagnosis results] are not displayed properly
Everyone’s diagnosis result/everyone’s tweets are acquired in real time using Twitter’s official widget. However, from time to time, display may be delayed or tweets cannot be displayed properly depending on Twitter’s operating condition. If this happens, please try again later. Tweets sent prior to a fixed period of time cannot be acquired using Twitter widget, however, these tweets as well as certain past tweets can be displayed using a website called TOPSY. The link to TOPSY is displayed on each diagnosis result page. If tweets are not properly displayed, please use the link.

About the [Tweet using @ in the name] function
When a user tweets using @ in the name of the diagnosis result, Twitter automatically sends a [Mention (message)] to the owner of that name. When you [want to share diagnosis results with friends], use [Tweet using @ in name] displayed on the same page to send the diagnosis results to the person with the name. When you tweet using [@] to other people, please be thoughtful of the persons you tweet to and aware that the tweet will reach them.

About hashtags
Hashtags are used as a grouping function for comments on Twitter. When a diagnosis is created with hashtags which are already being used on Twitter, tweets on the original topic of discussion and tweets on the diagnosis results may get mixed up and [hashtags which are already used on Twitter] cannot be registered. Hashtags which are used on ShindanMaker for the first time are checked automatically. Hashtags which were already registered once on ShindanMaker can be registered thereafter as well. Only one hashtag can be used for one diagnosis. (Please note that if hashtags which have been registered with the previous specifications were used on Twitter prior to being registered, they may be removed). In order to avoid cases such as when more than one user uses the same hashtag, [a user must [Log in] to register a hastag and also, must check the box ON for the [Display name of author] so as to enable later confirmation that he/she is the author of the hashtag.
