Although Lost Boys 3: The Thirst is still in production, Corey Haim is set to return to the franchise in the fourth installment. Here's what B-D is running...

After the events of Lost Boys 2, it was said that Corey Haim would not be returning to the franchise alongside long-time co-star Corey Feldman. Movieweb broke some huge news this evening as they're reporting that Haim will in fact star alongside Feldman once again, only it won't be in Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, which begins filming soon in Africa.

They report, "We just got back from chatting with Haim, who confirmed that he will not be participating in Lost Boys 3: The Thirst due to his very busy schedule. But he is in fact looking to come back for [LOST BOYS] Part 4, in which Sam Emerson will play a huge part in the storyline..." If the third film is as bad as the second, I don't think I'll even care at that point.

Again, this comes from Clint over at Moviehole.

- The sequel to “Ghost Rider” will pick up eight years after the events of the first film, scribe David Goyer says. But will it be more realistic? "I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker," Goyer added. "It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'" (MTV)

- Garry Marshall will reunite with his "Pretty Woman" and "Runaway Bride" star Richard Gere for the romantic comedy "State of the Union", according to Entertainment7 reps at AFM.

- New AFM Posters and Logo Art for "Scream 4", "Machete", "Resident Evil : Afterlife", "Tekken", "Outpost II", "Conan", "Bait 3D", "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse", and "The Toxic Avenger 5", are online.

- Bloody Disgusting reports that Dan Aykroyd will reunite with his "Blues Brothers" director John Landis for the comedy "Burke and Hare".

- Annette Bening and Anthony Hopkins join Andy Garcia in 'Hemingway & Fuentes" (Variety)

- Roadside Attractions has picked up U.S. theatrical rights to social satire “The Joneses,” toplining Demi Moore and David Duchovny. "Informers" babe Amber Heard also stars in the pic. (Variety)

- Sally Hawkins and William H. Macy will star in Abe Sylvia's feature directorial debut, "Dirty Girl," a 1980s-set coming-of-age comedy that's being shopped at the American Film Market. The pic, which also stars Lisa Kudrow, Juno Temple and Jeremy Dozier, revolves around a high school tramp who pairs up with a shy and overweight gay teen. Together, they set off to find her real father in California. (Variety)

- James Franco will follow up his upcoming stint on "General Hospital" with a guest role on "30 Rock" (Now that's more like it!), according to Michael Ausiello.

- There will be 3-D characters in the "Roger Rabbit" sequel, but Roger and Jessica will remain 2-D, director Robert Zemeckis tells the MTV Movies Blog.

- Steve Guttenberg is again tooting the "Three Men and a Baby 3" horn. The actor, who has been suggesting a second sequel to Leonard Nimoy's 1987 hit has been in the works for roughly a decade now, tells WENN that "Three Men and a Bride" will see his, Tom Selleck's and Ted Danson's characters reuniting for the marriage of young Mary. Guttenberg, obviously down to his last dollar, is also trying to convince the money-men to do another "Police Academy" or "Cocoon" sequel.

- Not surprisingly, Paramount are considering sequelizing "Paranormal Activity". (Access Hollywood)

- 1980s Rock Icon Peter Murphy has filmed a cameo in "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" (MTV)

- Sony Pictures announced today it's acquired the motion picture rights to the board game of world conquest, "Risk", from Hasbro. (Deadline Hollywood Daily)

- Monica Bellucci will star in Joel Schumacher's "1:30 Train", about a young woman robbed on a train and left alone in the city penniless and desperate.

- The trailer for Phil Noyce's "Salt", starring Angelina Jolie (my buddy Christopher Showerman was this close to snagging a role in the film too at one stage!), is online (/Film).

- The "Red Dawn" remake will ''blow up all of Downtown Detroit" says cast member Josh Hutcherson. (MTV)

- Steven Seagal's post-"Machete" role? That of a hard-nosed Interpol agent in Eastern Europe taking on gun traffikers and dope runners in Voltage Pictures' "Born to Raise Hell".

- Robert Zemeckis wants Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to appear in his "Yellow Submarine" remake. (MTV)

Kevin Williamson talks a little Scream 4 business...

Kevin Williamson’s kept his “Scream 4” script, er, pretty close to his chest but he’s at least shed some light on what we can expect in the recently-announced third sequel to the Wes Craven hit.

Williamson, still writing the script, tells MTV, "It's going good…I’ve gotta finish that baby."

As for the plot, he’s tight-lipped but will say, “The fourth one is an ensemble...It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We'll have our three main characters, and we'll be introducing several more."

(I'd originally heard that the new film would fix solely on Gale and Dewey trying to protect their 'newborn' from Ghostface - who, for some particular reason, wanted the tot's head on a rattle; Not sure if that's still the storyline Williamson's drawing from).

The three characters that will be returning are Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette), Williamson confirmed, adding, "We'll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That'll take us through the next three [Scream movies]."

Williamson says we can expect “Scream 4” to give the horror genre as much as a ribbing as the previous films did.

"I guess I'll just have to be very aware of the fact that we're a '4' and that we're beating a dead dog. I'm going to make that very apparent in the dialogue," laughed the writer/producer, who is also hard at work these days making "The Vampire Diaries" for The CW.

"Come on," he laughed. "It's the age of the remake! And 3-D and all that [other horror fad material], can you imagine what ['Scream' movie-within-a-movie] 'Stab 10' is like?"

Wes Craven is reportedly in talks to return as director of “Scream 4” – but no deal is in place yet.

Moviehole has the dirt, and like Clint points out, this isn't a definitive yes, but it's not a no either...

Now let’s preface this news item with a bit of an avowal: David Duchovny isn’t saying there’ll be a third “X-Files” movie just that he’d like there to be one. So, even at the risk of cutting off your blood supply, keep ‘em crossed for a little while longer. We will let you know when it’s safe to unstitch your storks.

The “Californication” star tells The Daily Beast he’d be happy to hang the ‘I Want to Believe’ poster back up in his office. And he, like the fan community, believes the next film should be set in 2012 – since that date played a big part in the show’s folklore.

“As far as the X-Files movie I’d like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it’s natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we’ll see if we get to do it.”

The final date on the Mayan Calendar, 2012 is supposedly the dawning of a new kingdom, according to the followers of the Church of the Red Museum. They are supposed to have the world ready for this "new age".

In “X-Files” lore this is the planned date for the alien colonization. We continue our list with the Child's Play sequels...
1. Child's Play 2
No suprise here. Believe it or not, I'm actually going to rank these in the order they were released. Part two was a breath of fresh air; Chucky's triumphant return was welcomed with open arms in the horror community.
2. Child's Play 3
This is probably the sequel I've seen more times than any of the other Chucky films (including the original). This takes place 10 years after the original, Andy Barclay is now 16 and in military school, and Chucky's wit is at its best here...and finale is one I'll remember for years.
3. Bride of Chucky
According to the timelime, Bride of Chucky takes place just a couple days/weeks/months after the events of Child's Play 3. I was a fan of this film for many reasons, I was thrilled to see Chucky back on the big screen, and sporting a cool new look. But, there were times when the film seemed to leave the horror genre and play in the comedy field a little bit.
4. Seed of Chucky
I disliked this movie for all the same reasons why liked Bride. This movie was just too...oh, what's the word...I don't know. I just didn't like it. So I ranked it last. However, the opening POV kills were pretty cool.
There. I ranked the Child's Play sequels. Boy, isn't my life hard. Agree or disagree with my list? Comment!

Friday the 13th Part 3
I would've possibly ranked Part 2 at number one, but I feel this is the definitive Jason movie. Besides, not only is this the film where he gets the hockey mask, but it's also in 3-D!
2. Friday the 13th Part 2
Even though this is the first of the series to feature Mr. Voorhees as our main antagonist, I feel Part 3 was ever-so-slightly the better film, so this falls to a close second. Don't get me wrong, I love sack-head Jason.
3. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
This chapter is probably the biggest guilty pleasure for me. I absolutely adore Corey Feldman's "Tommy Jarvis" character, and scenery in this film is amazing. It also helps that this time around, Jason seems a little more brutal and raw (reminds me a lot of remake Jason, Derek Mears).
4. Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
What's not to like about this movie? I really have nothing negative to say, even the absence of Jason Voorhees doesn't bother me (he does appear in Tommy's hallucinations). Overall, this movie captures the essence of 80s slashers...and that's a good thing.
5. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
So Jason has officially became a zombie now. Yeah, maybe it was hinted at before with his look, physical endurance and all that jazz, but now it's official. Once you've been re-animated by lightning, you're a zombie (in my book...or Frankenstein). However, this was a fun movie with a solid soundtrack (thank you, Alice Cooper), and some of the kills are downright killer (pun intended!).
6. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Hmm, I wonder what would happen if Carrie White and Jason Voorhees threw down...oh wait, this movie IS what would happen. "Tina" (Lar Park Lincoln) has a telekinetic gift...but does this really work in an F13 film? If it wasn't for the cool-looking Jason (exposed spine!), this may have been ranked lower.
7. Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
So the creator of the original returns to bring us the last, huh? Yeah, right. Anyone with a brain stem knew this wasn't the last. However, I did enjoy this movie and the fact that they strayed away from the norm. It was an interesting movie, but it just lacked something (cough, hockey mask, cough!).
8. Freddy vs. Jason
So it turns out that Camp Crystal Lake is just outside Springwood, go figure, I guess Haddonfield must be right down the road, too. Anyway, so if you seen the ending to JGTH, then you seen this coming: the epic battle of evil versus evil. The only real memorable thing about this movie is that it was Robert Englund's last hoo-rah in the Freddy Krueger make-up.
9. Jason X
"In the year 2457, on a routine training mission, a group of..." Wait! 2457?! Huh? Okay, so takes place in the future AND in space...but that's okay. It was a very entertaining piece of cinema. I'd like to know what good old Uber Jason is up to nowadays.
10. Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
There really isn't much to say about this movie. You either love it or hate it. Me? I'm kind of in the middle. Even though it ranks dead last on my list, it definitely has great re-watchability (yeah, Google that shit, it's a word). There are so many plot holes, continuity errors, teleportation, etc. And when did Crystal Lake connect to the ocean? Oh well, it's a fun little boat ride (my god, aren't I good with puns, haha).
And that's it, our complete rundown of the F13 sequels, best to worst. Agree or disagree? Let me know by leaving a comment...or even rank them yourselves!

And to kick off the event, we'll begin with the finest (in my opinion): the Halloween series (minus Rob Zombie's versions).
1. Halloween II (1981)
Obviously the best of the sequels. What better place to start then where the original immortal classic ended. Halloween II delivers the goods, fair effort considering the original's status.
2. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
The only reason this is ranked above H3 is simple: this is the return of Michael Myers. After a decade of silence, the Halloween Theme is back.
3. Halloween III: Season of the Witch
I ranked this film higher than H20 for many reasons, but mostly because this is honestly the better film. Even with the absence of Michael Myers and the Halloween Theme, this film still manages to capture the essence of the season (this year's Trick 'r Treat nailed it). Besides, the Silver Shamrock jingle is annoyingly catchy.
4. Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later
When the seventh film (sixth sequel) in a franchise disregards chapters 4, 5 and 6, there's a problem. I get that it's a "reunion/anniversary" film, so I took that into consideration and ranked it fourth. Did this feel more like a run-of-the-mill 90s teen slasher than an epic Halloween to any of you?
5. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
This isn't a quote-unquote "bad" movie by any means, but Thorn? Really?! This is the reason behind Michael's madness? I did, however, like the return of George P. Wilbur as The Shape (previously played Myers in H4) and Tommy Doyle's character (this time played by funny guy Paul Rudd).
6. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
There are so many things wrong with this sequel, or hell, so many things wrong with movie, period -- from deaf kids to the Myers' house turning into a Gothic mansion. The sole reason this film isn't ranked last is due to the redeeming qualities Donald Pleasence, returning as mad Dr. Loomis for a fourth time.
7. Halloween: Resurrection
So you've probably guessed by now, I ranked H8 dead last. Do I really need to go into detail with this one? I guess this is my reasoning: the original title for the film was Hall8ween: Michael Myers.com. Oh, and a certain rapper going all kung-fu on Mr. Myers. I blame H8 for the reasoning on why the next chapter in the series was a remake.
An there you have it! The Halloween sequels ranked from best to last. Disagree or agree with what I have? Read on for the buzz...

With his once promising ‘'Superman'' series (I think it's safe to say we'll never see a sequel to "Superman Returns". A new "Superman" movie, sure, just not one that has ties to the under performing - Warner's words, not mine; I think it did quite well considering, and for the most part, I enjoyed the heck out of the flick - 2006 flick) now as motionless as a highway-traveling meerkat, it's no surprise to hear all-round comic-nut Bryan Singer is back in talks with Fox about returning to the "X-Men" series.

As you'll recall, Singer existed his post as the director of "X-Men 3" when Warner Bros offered him the chance to direct a "Superman" movie. But when "Superman Returns" didn't exactly set the world on fire, Warner Bros pushed the pause button on any further adventures of Kal-El. The last we heard the franchise may be rebooted yet again - possibly with "V for Vendetta" director James McTeague taking the reigns. But at the moment, the official studio response is that there's currently nothing happening with Superman.

But there's a lot happening with the X-Men - there's spin-off's in the works ("Magneto", "The First Class", "Deadpool"), sequels to spin-off's ("Wolverine 2"), and even rumours of a third sequel to Singer's smash-hit "X-Men". Thus, Singer's looking to Rothman for his next meal.

And why wouldn't Fox let Singer defect!? He did, after all, near single-handedly give life to the studio's steady roster of comic-book movies.

"I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Singer as saying at South Korea's Pusan International Film Festival. "I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast," he said.

Singer, whose most recent film was the Tom Cruise vs. Hitler drama "Valkyrie", said the "X-Men" series, which follows a group of mutants with superpowers who struggle to fit in with humans, is about tolerance and social structures.

He said he likes to "trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say."

"The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is - the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition," Singer said.

If Singer's indeed serious about returning to the world of "X-Men" hopefully it's for the recently-mooted "X-Men 4" which it's said would reunite the cast of the original trilogy - including Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and so on. After the abysmal "X-Men : The Last Stand", that series needs to be sealed off in style.

Thanks to Moviehole for the story.

But of course those talks likely never included Will Smith’s accountant – which, it’d now seem, is the reason we’ve yet to see the film.

Talking to Latino Review, Emmerich said he’s got a great storyline ready to go for “Independence Day 2” – but it involves Will Smith’s character, and at this stage Fox don’t know if they’d be willing to cough up the cabbage to bring the Fresh Prince back. Understandable I suppose, Smith comes with a hefty price tag, but on the other hand, how much money is “ID4 2” bound to make!? Shitloads! Smith’s fee would be a drop in the pond at the end of the day!

“Dean Devlin and I are still set to make a sequel likely because we’ve found some sort of idea and we approached FOX and FOX has not quite figured out how to incorporate Dean’s and my deal, and Will’s (Smith) deal. Will wants to do it in some sort of a package they can live with. So it's just been in negations now since forever, and naturally FOX says “Why don’t you do it without Will Smith?” I said Will is essential for us, for this movie and actually for the audience too. And, so, it's in limbo and lately the studios are fighting. Like gross players, and Will is a gross player and is probably the only gross player right now who’s worth his gross. So we’ll see what happens. I would love to do it.’’

Yeah, guess a sequel with the ghost of Randy Quaid’s character flying a pesticide plane into another alien ship wouldn’t be quite as appealing…..

Well, other than the proposed reboot that Kim Henkel had a year or so ago. Anyway, here's the skinny on the latest Massacre...

Twisted Pictures is becoming the house of multiple sharp objects as the makers of the Saw series are closing a deal to take over the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, putting the villains Leatherface and Jigsaw under one roof. The details are slim, but Leatherface could be returning in 3D. More soon. Read on for the rest of the story and tell us what you think below.

Sources said the producer/financier is in talks to partner in the films with Lionsgate, which has distributed all the pics in the highly profitable "Saw" series, including the Oct. 23 release of "Saw VI."

The plan is to contemporize the storyline for a 3D film that would be scripted by Stephen Susco ("The Grudge"). Carl Mazzocone, Mark Burg and Oren Koules will be the producers.

The series had been launched at New Line with a remake and a prequel produced by Platinum Dunes, the genre company run by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

Deals had been made on a per-pic basis with "Chainsaw" rights-holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel, the latter of whom wrote the original 1974 pic with director Tobe Hooper. Talks fell apart with Platinum Dunes. The Twisted Pictures deal is for multiple films, sources said.

The franchise is bloody big business: The 2003 remake cost $9.5 million and grossed $110 million worldwide. The 2006 prequel didn't do as well but still grossed $55 million on a $13 million budget.

The Platinum Dunes team, which just made a first-look deal at Paramount, still is aligned with a pair of iconic psycho murderers: After reintroducing Jason Voorhees in 2009's "Friday the 13th," they are relaunching Freddy Krueger (played by Jackie Earle Haley) in a new "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

It appears that Michael Dougherty has some Trick 'r Treat sequel plans up his sleeve -- or should I say sequels? Have a read for yourself...

Now that it’s October, we’re all in the mood to get the bejeezus scared out of us. And this year we’re in luck, because the instant cult classic “Trick ‘r Treat” debuted on DVD Tuesday, and its Halloween-themed tales of terror are scaring up some huge business. Naturally, if writer/director Michael Dougherty has his way, he’ll be haunting our All Hallows’ Eve with sequels for years to come.

“Yeah, I have to say that the excitement over the past few months of watching the film grow has started to jumpstart some ideas, and I know how the next one ends,” Dougherty revealed to us this week, saying he’s already brainstorming “Trick ‘r Treat 2” ideas in response to the film’s cult fanbase explosion. “If this [DVD release] does become something, if it catches executives off-guard, it might [get sequels]. I would love to do them.”

If you’ve already seen “Trick,” you’re probably changing into a fresh pair of undies right now – and you might also realize that the flick’s structure would lend itself easily to sequels. “The whole idea originally, for me, was to do one if not every Halloween, at least every other Halloween,” Dougherty explained. “Because it’s an anthology film, it lends itself to telling another four stories which would intertwine – but I think you could take the film and explore how Halloween was celebrated in different locations, different time periods, and the one consistent character would be Sam, the mascot.”

Much like the first film, Dougherty said he’d design the sequel from the back forward – and he already knows who his main character would be. “I know how the next one ends, I know who the main villain would be – let’s just say that there’s a whole contingent of people out there who hate Halloween, who try to convince people that Halloween is a genuinely evil holiday that should be avoided. And I’d like to see Sam go up against one of those types,” he explained. “No, no [it’s not a character from the first film]. I just know the type of character – when I sat down to write ‘Trick ‘r Treat,’ I knew that the final battle would be between Sam and a kind of Scrooge – Brian Cox’s character is very much Scrooge for Halloween. I know who that antagonist would be in the next film.”

And if Dougherty – an “X2” writer who is currently hard at work on everything from a “Dead@17” movie to a big-budget blockbuster entitled “Calling All Robots” – gets too busy to oversee the next film the way he did “Trick ‘r Treat,” he said he’d be willing to bring some other filmmakers into the fold. “I love the idea of collaborating with new people, so I might be willing to step back and just produce, but then find other writers and directors to work with to take the ball and run with it,” he explained. “I think that would be fun.”

Would you like to see a "Trick 'r Treat" sequel? What Halloween traditions/countries/eras would you like to see it explore?

This also comes from THR.

New Line is going on a "Vacation."

The Warner Bros. division is developing a sequel of sorts to the 1983 comedy classic, with David Dobkin attached to produce and possibly direct.

New Line is meeting with writers to pen the script, but the take is already developed: The story focuses on Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold, the protagonist of the initial movies and portrayed by Chevy Chase. Rusty, now a father himself, takes his family on a road trip vacation.

The characters would acknowledge that first trip, making the movie more of a sequel than a reboot. Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, who played the mom in the original movies, will have room to make appearances as grandparents, providing a sense of continuity, though no deals are in place.

The original “Vacation” is a Warner Bros. property, but as soon as New Line became part of the studio, exec Sam Brown began sifting through the parent company’s titles to see what was available in terms of rights. He eventually found “Vacation,” a movie he said he has watched more than any other in his life, and brought it to New Line president Toby Emmerich and production president Richard Brener, who jumped at the opportunity. The duo asked Warners brass if it had any plans with the title. It did not, and the New Line execs persuaded them to let them take a crack at it. Brown is shepherding for New Line.

National Lampoon is not involved at this stage, as Warners controls the characters and the title.

New Line is taking meetings with writers this week, hoping to make a movie that skews more toward “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” or “Little Miss Sunshine” than “RV” or “Are We There Yet?”

“Vacation” brings CAA-repped Dobkin back in business with New Line, for whom he directed and produced “Wedding Crashers.”

Ross is already writing “Spider-Man 4” for the studio.

In the comics, Venom is a gooey alien parasite that bonds with Peter Parker and later his newsroom rival, among other people, becoming one of more popular villains in "Spider-Man’s" rogue gallery.

Topher Grace portrayed the character in the 2007 movie, which ended with both the human and the alien symbiote apparently destroyed in an explosion.

The studio had no comment on Grace’s involvement nor on Ross writing the project.

Avi Arad and Marvel are producing the movie. If you’ve been watching the show on ABC Thursday nights, I promise you’ll love this interview as they explain how the idea came together, what’s coming up, David explains where the Oceanic Airlines billboard came from and is the show related to “Lost”, and so much more. Also, while my interviews are usually around ten to fifteen minutes, this one went for almost thirty, so we were able to really talk and not just scratch the surface. Look for the entire conversation Sunday night.

Anyway, since David is very involved in some big name comic book movies, I wanted to give you a taste of the interview by posting what he said about “Ghost Rider 2″ and “Magneto”. Hit the jump to learn more:

David Goyer image.jpgBefore getting to what he said, the first thing to know is last week we reported Sony was moving ahead with “Ghost Rider 2″ and it would be based on a script David Goyer wrote years ago.

So when I had the chance to ask him about the script and the project, he confirmed the story from last week and said “Ghost Rider 2″ was going to be based on his 9 year old script and all they were going to have to do is polish it up. The reason for the polish is his script was written for an R rating, and Sony wants to make “Ghost Rider 2″ PG-13. But while many of us would love to see an R rated “Ghost Rider”, he did say they got away with a lot in “The Dark Knight”, and he hopes to walk a similar path on “Ghost Rider 2″.

Later on in the interview I asked him about his other film projects like “Magneto” and how would he be able to make it with his crazy production schedule on “FlashForward”. Also, what was the status of “Magneto”. See what he said below.

Again, the entire interview with David and Brannon will be online Sunday night. I suggest coming back for the entire conversation as it was one of the better interviews I’ve done.

(Thankfully there isn't a new "Baby Geniuses" scheduled that year, so Bay's yet to cash in his prescription for Alprazolam).
